Elieen's Emporium had a range of useful etches (especially the two wire handrail bending jigs for example) does anyone know if they were picked up as a range?

I seem to remember a company supplying a PCB drilled with a matrix of holes and linked by tinned copper traces. Links were made with a nut and bolt. Diodes were also included but I don't remember if they were fitted in production or by the purchaser. Seems ideal to recreate using the cheap online PCB suppliers that are around nowadays.

The 3mm Society had a N scale, 1:120, 3mm and 4mm demo of the same BR std loco. The difference in size and volume between 1:120 and 3mm is noticeable. With "Copper Wort" I could have spent the whole show examining the detail and especially the interiors. I spoke to Pete Gross about brewing and mentioned as a Midland modeller Burton was a must visit. I mentioned the remarkable railway model and was met with the revelation that the museum had closed -what? There was a Southern Pacific layout in the other hall and the owner showed me the full interior of the depot building - excellent.

The famous Japanese service culture is to be envied when from the UK. The customer is a "god" there. Ally Pally, was my first exhibition for about a year. Went on the Saturday, got into the queue for the early entrance, but when finally arrived at the front door was confronted by a hoard of people surging straight off the bus and who proceeded to gatecrash the main door. No security or stewards outside wrangling the persons getting in, which lead to a bit of a scrum. You could have also sold a guide to the queue beforehand. Bag check OK and queued up inside for the standard entrance time of 10:00. Definitely a lack of seating, someone I spoke to actually mentioned that he had raised it with the venue. Some of the padded venue seats then appeared. Could have done with more though, especially under the organ. Looking at the demographic of the visitors, seats would be a necessary later on. Somewhere for people to sit while having a brew, snack and a chat. Why is this always being raised about this show? Could we have proper metal barriers in front of all the layouts? The owners must worry about damage from people getting too close. Some empty spaces where the stands were marked out on the floor. I wonder who was missing? Much comment was made about Hornby not being present. Many thought they should have been there as Ally Pally is a major show and Hornby have alot of items that people would have liked to have seen. Rapido's stand was impressive with their superb detailing being on show. Copper Wort is a masterpiece.

Hopefully they have been gainfully employed measuring up a 80 Class DEMU. Come on lads.

The Japanese manufacturer Iori Koubou has released a working screw coupling that plugs into a NEM362 pocket. Please see couplings. I an not sure if anything similar has been posted.

Greenmax will be releasing the Plasser & Theurer Multiple Tie Tamper 09-16 in 1/80. It is a full plastic kit and is unmotorised. Design and production by Aoshima. available for pre-order from Japanese websites (current exchange rate GBP80 plus shipping). Not sure how well it matches any UK used machines.

The bar code is indeed a type of car identifier called KarTrak ACI (Automatic Car Identification) that was abandoned by 1977, but of course hung around for much longer. Press on detailing your other locos, though many a shortline make do with one one loco. I miss modelling USA trains, prices for the items and shipping increased really quickly, personal circumstances changed and I lost touch.

Seems odd that Hornby will only sell to certain retailers. If a retailer can provide service, then surely Hornby are losing out on sales?

The Japanese rail operator JRWest reported cracks in Shinkansen bogie components in 2018 which was due to suspected over grinding. I wonder what the reason is this time? No doubt someone important will have to give a public apology in Japan, while in the UK ... As a side issue why is Kato filed under Smaller Suppliers, its a massive undertaking.
