Sorry back on topic. early 1970's on the day of the Derby Loco open day. August Bank holiday Saturday. I missed it but obviously a good few enthusiasts will remember this. a western took a service train up as far as Derby Midland station & was changed there. Peter

Back in the Pontrilas station again for a weeks holiday, Booked workings of 13 class 67 loco hauled passenger trains on weekdays this time. plus the new class 197's units Hopefully a few freights. Talk of a new station still ongoing & lucky not at the original site & assume a park & ride near the Sawmill,,, Happy hols. Peter

There usually was a Peak on the middle road for the Northern express change around for London & vice versa, on the MML via Trent.

on the public side of a low wire fence, just at the point where the high metal palisade fence finished. In the undergrowth, A well frequented photo location in ''fine weather''. Strange at this spot someone had lifted several cable trough covers on the railway side. Must be cameras in the trees ! A cropped photo obviously.

Hi Peter. D411 I also cabbed at Toton. (May have stood in there with You !) It was their open day. They came to Toton for load bank testing as new. I use to go on Toton bank & saw several new delivered ones there around that time. Peter, happy days.

Just realised for the Emails, (yes I just received one) [the you tube influencer has no effect!)] that the wagons are in pairs.singular in a plastic bag would make for a better deal ? Are these the wagons that ran over BR at Consett ? Born in Ilkeston, stanton & staveley iron works in my blood I do have a feel for these! Of note, a load for these wagons one could melt down all your old triang models... thanks, Peter

Hello, Wagon loads, with my wagons but being coal loads I used a fine track pin, head in the wagon.thus the pin protrudes upwards, as coal can be pained black & blends in quite well. Can be lifted out with pliers. If clever you could glue one loose prominent brick to pull on. Like your wagon build & interesting you have found model loose bricks as I have an interest in some Palbrick wagons in manufacture at the moment ! must make life easier if the same wagons can be made to look loaded & unloaded. thanks, Peter

The model railway (toy) shop in Ilkeston lets say from the 1960's was Gunns on the Main shopping road Bath Street. the back room dedicated solely to Triang Hornby. Not read in any of the above was their preview Chistmas toy fair each year was a dream come true when Santa's toys where all on display & a visit was a special event in my early years. The Train base board layout. Plus our Co-op had at that time a christmas built layout. The co-op one, one year arrived at my friends house, how that came down the chimney I will never know. Not true Model rail shops as such, but the way i was influenced in my early days to model railway advertising. Peter
