Cheers guys, I thought I remembered correctly, mine was a 040 small steam loco. Just managed to pick up a jouef 708 on ebay for 8 quid looks like it is gear driven so I'm hoping it's gona be the same like the one from years back. Model wise it's hideous and resembles more a German loco than a BR loco but hey, its a bit of nostalgia!!

Hi folks, am I imagining it or did I have a small electric (12v) loco when I was a kid, possibly made by Jouef that had some kind of built in inertia? Maybe by flywheel? Cheers Mick.

Hi, does anyone have any suggestions to what I can replace the power bogie with that's more reliable than the old triang one with the double rack and pinion armature? Thanks Mick.
