  1. They were missing when it arrived ( one and a half anyway!) so the owner will sort it out now it’s home!
  2. O Gauge Class 50. I finished this before Xmas so here it is! Respray from NSE dark to light blue and some serious weathering…
  3. Thanks - all in a days work but nice to have a variety to work on!
  4. Round up from the past week or so, 90s from the previous post and OBAs finished and a rescue job and round up! First up 90s, the GC with full branding ; followed by Glider 037 with stablemate 036, 036 was a respray I did sometime ago but adjusted the weathering slightly to the same shades as 037 as it’s off to a new home last of the 90s is 005 in Greater Anglia, Fitting the “lovely” Bachmann 166 with DCC lighting…. and the finished OBAs; Another of the new Bachmann 37s for weathering, man’s lastly a rescue job. This Thumper had had the blue resprayed but was suffering from overspray, dodgy white touch ups and a splatter weathering job:- here’s what I mean… and again; I've 99.9% got rid of the overspray and the white gunge, hopefully this is a bit better… and the yellow band, Thats about it for now!!
  5. Various projects from the workbench either in progress or finished.. Dapol Western being reworked to 1015 in its current guise. I’ve resprayed the yellow warning panel to a better shade and added the hi intensity headlight into the headcode panel, Accurascale 92s next, three in for weathering, Resprays now and a what if 60 to start, the large logo sits well on this… Revering to type a 90 going into Grand Central, Another Abelio GA , and a DB red to be 037 eventually last up starting on a few OBAs,
  6. Tractors, station and weathering in general! Update from the last few weeks with a pair of the new Bachmann 37s in for weathering. More my era BR blue 305 and a faded and battered 37201, and in close up, Other weathering includes a 58- always a good subject, more BR blue with 47435, Resprays coming to a close are 47709 in Fragonset, and the long running pain that is the Bachmann 166, the worst model in the world….. Light relief from it is the CLASP station that’s had most of its cladding complteted, and test fitting the roof, forecourt and platform, these need to be on for the canopy supports to sit on catch up soon, cheers Jerry
  7. Long time no update but here goes! Heljan Class 26s three for weathering and a renumber and rework of BR blue 024 and the rest of them: more wagon weathering again with @railtec-models graffiti sheets The rescue job 90 in a previous post has been completed, and another EWS 030 renumbered and weathered as 029 talking of renumbering and weathering these Hornby LSL Mk3s have been reworked back to their Anglia days….Hornby only do first class so had to lose the yellow stripe and renumber the seconds lastly something a bit different, laser cut SR Clasp station, first up here’s getting it put together and making a start on the cladding and doors etc That’s about all for now!
  8. Hi Denny, I made the roof Ariel myself as there isn’t one off the shelf - if anyone knows different please say! I used bare metal foil to cut the outer circle with a compass cutter then marked out the spokes and cut out the segments in between which then fitted inside the outer circle. The shark fin was made from plasticard. Hope that helps, btw if you can’t get the glazing out just use masking fluid as it will be fine for the fading and Matt coat, cheers Jerry
  9. Hi Paul, sorry for the delayed reply, there’s a number of ways but it really depends on the manufacturers glues which sadly are getting stronger. My usual way is scalpel under the edge and gentle pressure - listening to what’s going on! Don’t force it- if not a drop of IPA will free up a lot of glues but warning it will remove paint - whatever you do don’t try thinners as it will wreck the glazing. If it feels like it won’t budge then it’s tape and maskol! Good luck, cheers Jerry
  10. Accurascale 37043 in for weathering, such a good model, and some detail….the roof is a joy to work on… Staying with 37s a pair of Bachmann IC Heljan 33 renumber and weather The Hornby 56 still scrubs up well, modified the front end with square headlight, split handrails and oval buffers followed up with a good weathering, Next up work in progress with two reworks. The Bachmann 9F looks like a zebra…… so I’ve started by going back to a faded dirty black before I get round to a decent weathering job…. Another rework is this 90 which needs a bit of TLC I have had all the glazing out to give it a clean - before and after; and a new coat of red for the bodyshell Thats all for the time being!
  11. Wagon weathering and graffiti, mostly from @railtec-models and space invaders weathering on JJA, mainly rust and crust… Something completely different are these games machines to go in my mates station buffet, laser cut kit, which gives the option to light them, here just on a test bit of card but they’ll look great when plumbed in properly!
  12. Scrapline 90, Leyland support vehicle and another 90 identity this time. 90025 is long term stored at Crewe and unlikely to ever run again. Here’s a reworked 90 which I had de-weathered in a previous post now covered in mould and waiting it’s fate buffers gone and a light cover as per the original And more mould! in slightly better health 029 reworked from 030 Lastly something a bit different, mixed media kit of a Leyland support vehicle, and from the other side
  13. I fade the yellow using light grey washes with a dab of white in the centre of the panels to lighten it more as required. The mig washes are ok for highlighting detail but not overall as they darken it rather than fading. George Dent has done a good article in the June 23 MRM which is very similar to mine but not quite as battered if that helps!
  14. Hi, it’s a real mixture of washes, weathering powders, detail painting on top of a fading of the yellow and finished off with the airbrush. I mix my own enamel washes, weathering powders are Tamiya and MIG with paints by Phoenix Precision. Hope that helps, cheers Jerry
  15. Heljan R&H PWM weathering underway! great little model this one, detail picks out nicely,
  16. Wagon works at Squirrel Rail with HEA, China clay and interfrigo vans pleased with the ladders! and the vans Continuing the wagons Bachmann Warflat with a bit of work to bring the little Centaur cargo to life… No update is complete without a 90 so here’s an ex 030 renumbered and renamed as 031 Onto the Southern now, 2 HAL weathering after a few repairs: and a weathering for the Brighton Belle, dirty but clean if you get my drift and the roofs, all 5 cars in total Two resprays of the Hornby MK 3 sleepers into the support coaches Crewe and Balmoral First Accurascale 37 for renumbering, all came off nicely ready for a new identity; man’s finally a workbench update :- this is the current lot in progress! This will be the last of my resprays , the Anglia ONE rake and the GWR166 (apart from any others I’ve promised as I’ve been trying to cut my workload for the last 9 months. I will still be doing weathering and renumbers but just haven’t got the time that I used too.
  17. The Stratford 47s were our staple diet back in the 70s, right at the end of my mates garden!!
  18. Anglia One Mk3 rake and lots of weathering on the workbench. First up roof vent conversion on the Mk3, removing these vents then reinstating the ribs and adding the centre flat vent, quick coat of Matt black as a primer before I do the roofs later meanwhile more blue and doors added on one of the rake Sticking with Mk3s a pair of sleepers going into Pullman Class 15 rescue job, first losing the weathering and cleaning up the glass followed by a respray, before the finished article, class 56 weathering; and a Stratford 47 always nice to weather the roofs on these; and the new Bachmann 47 has such good underframe detail; Last up 73202 in GBRF, added the roof Ariel and lots of other little details, just need a black shedplate!
  19. More electrics, the finished 90s and a pair of Accurascale 92s…. Simple weathering on 037 Renumbering on Intercity and then modified intercity with grey cab roofs both renumbered and weathered Next up Dysons, swapped the sound between 042 and ex 003, the renumbered and renamed; and weathering for 042
  20. More 90s, Dysons, Mk3s and……… Haven’t posted recently as busy with non Rail duties but have been ploughing on in the meantime so here’s some completions and work in progress- An off the wall project was to make an A3 look like Hurricane on the RHDR, a good bit of fun and a change from the normal! Back to usual & 90 renumber, and 3 more for bogie repairs, weathering and a couple of new identities Sticking with electrics two Dysons, sound swap, new identity for the 3TG and a weathering for both; just started on the roof of 042, and a close up Long term projects on the go are the GWR 166, And a rake of Mk3s, here getting ready for primer last Up was a Mk3 for red stripe and respray the bands to Scotrail That’s it for now! Cheers Squirrel
  21. Weathering continues, another 47004, lots of runnng grime on this one; and the other side, and another railfreight machine with a slim Jim 33, and again, I will post a couple more pics when they’re done and the EWS gronk lurking in the background!
  22. Various weathering projects on the go including Hornby 31; Dapol bubble car Another 59, with the underframes and tanks getting extra attention and a TPE 68 just having the shine taken off it:
  23. Stored class 90. Whilst Western Lady was tatty in my last post 90031 takes things to a new level. Based on the actual loco festering at Crewe here’s mouldy 031 All enamel paints used apart from the windows which were water based AK weathering pencils so I didn’t damage the glazing. Couple more pics:- At the other end of the scale a nice what if commission 128 parcels in RES livery, The large slab sides were very similar to doing a 47 so nice to paint and finally from the other end, A few more weathering jobs on the go so they’ll be my next update!
  24. Bit of weathering and some coach resprays, Western Lady very tatty, followed by a renumber and rename for D825 Intrepid Last up couple of Scotrail resprays
  25. O Gauge Dapol 08. Not often I get O gauge but had the pleasure of creating 08202. Lot of work in creating this one from resprayed roof, faded, Additional handrails and altering stripes new numbers and works plates and all the detail painting & weathering And the finished article…..
