  1. @JonathanDavidson What type of computer operating system (Windows, Linux, iWhatever) are you using, and, with all due respect, how computer savvy are you? (By which I mean could you configure a network card?) Roco's Z21 Maintenance Tool only works properly under Windows and via a direct LAN connection. Guessing you're probably running Windows, do you know how to configure a network card to a fixed address? If not, you will need to seek assistance as the computer must be hard configured to speak directly with the z21 over this isolated LAN. If you can answer Yes to being able to sort these, then, IMHO, @JohnDMJ's advice holds: If you are not running Windows then probably https://www.roco.cc/en/aboutus/contactform/index.html will be your best bet. They speak good English!
  2. It is my understanding from previous communications on the subject with the that, whilst Heljan have sent ALL of their spares to them, the list is not fully comprehensive. Rather than use a forum to try and disgrace a local supplier, might it be more beneficial to contact Heljan direct at Heljan@Heljan.dk to get the official view?
  3. Good Evening Awl, for it may yet turn out thus (if there is any point in posting lest it switch to something else!) 3 puns in 10 did! Elsewhere: As an Engineer, ISTR that calories equate to energy without which you can do nothing. I also STR that the "calorie controlled diet" was lampooned by 'experts' on its announcement. Respectfully, as you have previously posted hereon, it is the type food that you eat and when you eat it that matters more! I suspect that a bacon butty for breakfast may be more beneficial overall than a purely carbohydrate-based start to the day in the longer term. Grilled sausage or bacon on buttered toast seems to be sufficiently satiating for the day ahead!
  4. Sorry for stirring a potential hornets' nest! I consider myself a modeller, although I have impediments / inabilities to achieve some goals. As an example, I have an impaired shoulder which can cause arm oscillations so violent that, if I am trying to drink something from a cup, or soup from a spoon, most of it can end up on the table. Painting is not an option for me, especially numbering; however, the likes of Dapol often produce nu-numbered models and I am more than happy for someone very much more capable than I to adorn it appropriately. Regarding the less fine detail of a model, I can happily build a layout on which to run the models (although my soldering is starting to suffer a little!) I hope that you, Mick, and the Mods see the above as a reason for not so doing!
  5. Silly question, but with Oxford now owned by Hornby, is another price increase imminent?
  6. I know it's been a while but I believe Schtyne to be correct, as in eye rather than ear! Despite the best efforts of the German band, Helloween, Germanic pronunciation of ei vs ie tends to take the second letter as the rule. ei - eye, ie = eee.
  7. Long time, no speak! Just a couple of observations on the recent milestones: Indeed! Indeed, we have traversed pages: 16 (10000) 17 (10001) 18 (10010) and 19 (10011) in pretty much short order! Next will be 10100, i.e. Page 20, but there is a long way to go! (89 pages, 2225 posts? See you next week!)
  8. First observation: So I suggest you bought the GWR version in the UK (might want to check the seating arrangement in coach 4!) and the LNER set from Japan. I believe it's only the roughly 10% of the total 800s produced that are coming to the UK; only these have track. This why this thread is in the 'small suppliers' group! To (mis)quote Alphaville, Kato is BIG in Japan (but very very small, bordering on miniscule in the UK)!
  9. Your signature "CURRENTLY OFF ALL SOCIAL MEDIA CHANNELS DUE TO AN INCREASED AMOUNT OF ONLINE HARASSMENT BY MANY FORUM MEMBERS. PLEASE REFRAIN FROM CONJURING UP STUPID THEORIES ABOUT ME AND THE PEOPLE I WORK WITH AND TRYING TO SHAME US PUBLICLY." speaks volumes and much more than your response! Ask the question direct rather than speculate over a forum.
  10. Given that when a certain S.K. came back into the fold, the Junior range disappeared without trace as he had seen Marklin's myWorld at the Warley show, future developments will be interesting. Whilst the red track looks to have its own connections, I wonder how long it will be before an adaptor track is produced to allow PlayTrains to run onto Dad's layout? Needless to say that Marklin already have adaptor track (their plastic track is simply their existing C Track but fully molded in plastic; even the central studs are included!) and adaptor wagons with an NEM socket so that their myWorld wagons can run happily on Dad's layout. Given the similarity between PlayTrains and myWorld, if there hasn't been collaboration between Marklin and Hornby, then a lawsuit may not be far off!
  11. Good morning (I think!) Plans for the weekend include a visit to Sainsbury and washing the car (It'd be good to see out of the windows!) In my defence, yur onnor, 'wierd' and 'peculiar' are relative terms based on the perceiver's attitude. Marmalade and mint sauce are on the shopping list!
  12. Good evening, With the editor now cleared, I can start afresh! Another day at work when the dispensing of bottles of complimentary cyanoacrylate glue has oft been considered (make one long plank from your two!) Two days respite before the next onslaught. In other news: I heard that there was a competition for the worst pun; apparently, ten were entered with a view to receiving the prize. It seems One Pun in Ten Did! (AYMod - where's the long departed, much fought for, sadly missed GROAN button?) Regrettably, iD, your suggestion is not currently practical and, given previous experience of such treatment, may not yield long term success! Now that's given me an idea for breakfast - a warmed, buttered croissant with two rashers of bacon! Yum! A kind colleague today treated us to bacon butties; well received and very much appreciated! Thanks! I suggest that may not be the full declension : I am idiosyncratically eccentric, You are from an alternative Universe He/She is wierd We are from another planet You are [all] peculiar They are Bat Sh1t Crazy! You neglected the copious underscores: _________________________Mr A1 Aaron Aardvark! "the letter of the law" that's the crucial phrase. However, there are also local bye-laws which can be introduced and enforced. I seem to recall something, coincidentally in Brighton, where parking in an indicated bay for disabled persons without an appropriate (Blue or Orange) badge allowed the winner to claim 3 points on their driver's license. Refusing to vacate said bay when asked won them a further 3 points! I forget the other reasons / offences that the local bye-laws had created but in parking in such a designated bay without a badge could win sufficient license points as to be banned from driving! In summary, let's hope that local authorities can derive some local, but sensible, bye-laws under our current circumstances!
  13. Good Evening (I think! - deep eyelid inspection beckons!) Welcome, Foden, to this 'interesting' bunch of - think I'd better stop there before I cause an E-Riot! Yet another manic day concludes peacefully; tomorrow may possibly classify as a POETS day but since 8 full hours will still be worked, albeit from an early start, is it still just another POTS day? In other news: Depends which way you're looking; could be on the right! And never a more supportive bunch! It takes one to know one! TRAINed in what, professionally, who knows? You may very well be self certified; do I see a pair of white coated orderlies approaching? You don't have to be mad to be here, but it sure helps! In a similar vain, whilst growing old may be obligatory, rowing up is optional! Looking at some breakfasts, you may be beyond therapy and counselling should be sought! For me, 1 slice of OBT (ot buttered toast), two rashers bacon and, if I'm feeling indulgent, two dry-fried (using a non-stick pan with nothing other than the eggs in it) eggs.
  14. Some interesting posts! Perhaps it depends upon how many times in a Century do chrimbo day and New Year's Day fall in the same year! Dry cooked (akin to fried) egg on grilled bacon - Perfect startup to the day.
  15. Ar'ernoon from a damp West Sussex village. HUMP day - it certainly was after our manager called a meeting this morning! Everybody got the hump! £7.99 monthly, i.e. £95.88 (22% interest)! They can pay a visit to their local taxidermist on their own behalf (as a well known TV programme used to say) on the whole concept of Prime! I'm happy with their lockers at our local stations! Good thing about the early starts: 2 to 3 hours of c0ckwômble-free time to actually do some proper work.!
  16. Good Evening Afternoon! (Forgive the error; I've been put on shift working due to C-19; nearly eyelid inspection time!) In wider circles, and based on previous comments, the interaction of ChrisF and twitter offers the potential for an extremely large can of worms on which the lid should have been weighted down heavily rather than just prised off, as seems to have happened. Respect and Best Wishes, ChrisF, for applying the can opener. Elsewhere, And Spillung?
  17. There is, indeed, a thread on this forum specifically for the Playtrain, as, indeed, there are for all the differing areas in which Hornby have made announcements; however, I was of the impression that The Stationmaster had set up this independent thread as an overview, regardless of specifics, thus covering all aspects of the releases.
