  1. Simon, It's been great to follow you on here. But it's been even more fun to visit the layout in Wakefield (possibly the coldest place on the planet, well the day we went!) and Harrogate, the second coldest. The layout is tremendous and really does need to be seen in the flesh. Roll on the NEC in 2024! Unfortunately RMWeb will have to manage without you, shame but still...
  2. But an Android app has to run on lots of different phones so is much more complicated to code.
  3. I spotted this on ebay from a trader called hornsandwhistlesworkshop: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144911822821?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=SkQb4dXvRHS&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=zOCTjQ4TSie&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY i was seriosly tempted despite the higher price compared to a refurb. But it went immediately out of stock. Looks to be part of the burgeoning 3D printing maker industry.
  4. It'll be a 10 second teaser video of the date and time of the January announcements! Steam (out of the ears) to be provided by RMWebers. 😀
  5. Hornby Magazine have released a render, not Hornby. The Oxblood red colour was a bit out, so I can understand why you thought it was Hornby themselves. 😆
  6. Thanks to Andy and crew for the dedication to the cause of RMWeb. It appears that parts of the t'internet seem to be still like the wild west and you have discovered some of the cowboys. Having worked in IT for 35+ years I feel ashamed for the profession...
  7. Steady tiger, there's another four episodes yet... :-)
  8. I do wonder whether Hornby will end up going private, owned by LCD? A reverse takeover as it were. Not sure whether Phoenix are really in it for the long term. How much of a loss they are currently looking at on their Hornby investment though...
  9. Been there, done that, got the Raspberry Pi paperweight! Two of the voltage rails are on adjacent pins on the expansion connector. They must not touch. At least they are relatively cheap to replace...
  10. Yep. I have Hornby Railmaster. I got it as part of a really cheap trainset from one of these Christmas shops a few years back, Pasttimes? £75 for the Western Master train set. I took a punt and I've never looked back. I've probably spent far more than I need to on IT kit to keep it fed than the Railmaster itself. APT-E works perfectly well with the Railmaster/e-link. There's even an old thread on it on the Hornby Forum. As with all non-Hornby engines you have to type the details in yourself.
  11. Ooh, a DCC sound version would be amazing! "This time next year we'll be millionaires, Rodney!", "Mange Tout".
  12. Our Tesco (Stafford) had no visible Hornby catalogues on the 6th, plenty of Hornby magazines, I asked and the lady said "what ever they had was out". There was Just a blank space on the shelves for the Hornby catalogue and presumably the airfix catalogue (similar deal with another magazine)? We left empty handed. The boss (my better half) went the next day and asked again as there was no Hornby catalogue out that day either. Another lady said she'd got a crate of these 'funny book things' that she'd not put out as she didn't know where they went... :-) My better half pointed to the space on the shelves. So we were all happy. I've had no end of trouble over the years at both WHSmith and now Tesco, getting the offer, maybe I should get them in the post in future? :-) A £4 saving is a £4 saving after all...
