  1. Chickened out of doing this myself and sent it to Wickness Models who have done a cracking job! DCC only, no sound sadly, but working great now! Clive
  2. Hi All, I have a Bachmann Royal Scot which is DC and I've been told it's difficult to convert to DCC (I'd Like DCC Sound ideally). The model reference is Bachmann 31-275Z. Does anyone know if this is impossible to do or just very tricky? If it is possible whats the best way to go about it? Cheers Clive
  3. I searched for ages and didnt find one!!!!! Thanks
  4. HELP!!! I have a Dapol motorised water tower and would like to connect it to the DCC Accessory control. I've spoken to Dapol who suggest I need a Digikeijs DR4018 (Can't find one anywhere!!). Apparently I need something that acts as a voltage free SPDT switch? Has anyone succesfully connected one of these towers to DCC and, if so, how? Cheers Clive Lyneworth Model Railway
  5. Milestone today as the trackwork is complete!!! (Except for the bit that I'm using as a workbench!). It's taken longer than expected due to my Dad being ill last year and passing away in March, but I'm sure he would have loved to see this. Now the modelling can begin!! Rgds Clive
  6. Thanks everyone, some fantastic and fascinating answers! Cheers Clive
  7. Hope this is in the right section! As part of the Lyneworth to Millhampton branchline crosses over the central well of the layout I have decided I want a Bowstring Bridge to achieve this. The question is, would the track bed across the bridge be ballasted? or finished in some other way. I can find lots of pictures of Bowstring type bridges but none that show the trackbed clearly. Over to the "Hive Mind" !! Cheers Clive
  8. Just to let everyone know, Problem Solved!! Amazing what following the instructions properly does!! Thanks Richard and team!!!! Clive
  9. Thanks for that, I completely forgot to connect the track bus - even though I have had Richards note on this right in fornt of me! I feel such a plank! I'll get that sorted tonight and let you know how it goes. As an aside, when I first tested the points I ran an 0-4-0 over them and all seemed fine - however, what I hadn't thought about was that the 0-4-0 had a "Stay Alive" fitted !!! So, obviously the fault didn't show up straight away! Cheers Clive (feeling rather silly!)
  10. Hi All, I have set up some peco electrofrog points using iP Digital Point motors and connected them through a DCC Concepts Aplha Sniffer to some Cobalt S levers. The points open and close fine. However I am getting a problem woth the frog! When the points are set in one direction the exit tracks are both live! (as tested with a Train Tech Track Tester). throw the points the other way and only one of the exit tracks is live! How can this possibly be!!! Help Clive
  11. Hi Again! It's been a while as I'm balancing running a business, caring for my elderly father (who lives 125 miles away!) and trying to build Lyneworth! Here's an update on fitting the Cobalt S levers for the points and signals in the preservation area, Lyneworth Station. Currently working on the second Liftout Section which is the bowstring bridge which joins the upper level to the incline at Millhampton. Coming along nicely - albeit slowly at the moment! Clive
  12. Thanks both, yes oo gauge but realise that there would be a "fragility " problem ! O gauge would be acceptable! Yes I want to actually use it to move it to throw the point. Clive
  13. Hope this is in the right section! I would like to have a working ground frame to operate a single set of points on the entrance to the Lyneworth preservation loco shed, but can't see any available. Does anyone know of one or have ideas/instructions to scratch build one? Clive
  14. Hi everyone, Just a quick video update on the progress at Lyneworth where I am now working on the Upper Level which will be home to Lyneworth Station itself. @Harlequin Merry Christmas Everyone!! Clive
  15. @HarlequinLong awaited liftout section is done!! Got in a bit of a mess with it at first, primarily because I tried to overcomplicate things, but also because I can't drill a hole straight!. Went back to simple and things were much more successful (surprise!!!) and seems to have worked out fine. Moving on to the upper level now!!
  16. Hi again, This one was supposed to be the lift out section video but that went a little bit pear shaped and I decided to do the inspection pit as a distraction. Just fitted all this and thought it looked good wehn up pops Chadwick Model Railways version which I thought looked even better! Thanks Charlie!! Maybe I'll revisit it at somepoint! Clive
  17. Hi, I'm building a small TMD on my Lyneworth & Millhampton layout and have got the Bachmann 2 lane shed to use. I notice that there are loco doors at both ends of the shed and wondered what the use was for the rear doors? Were these always used or rarely? Was the through track just enough for the length of a loco or would the track have gone on elsewhere? I've looked up images to show this but can't find anything uselful! Cheers Clive
  18. Bit of a long video this one. Installing the station curves and some point motors. Using the new video editing software was a steeep learning curve!
  19. @Harlequin Hi Phil, Here's the pic of the station curve. Think the top part looks ok but as you come around the curve it tends to straighten out for the last half. What do you think? Anyone else - please feel free to throw your comments at me too! Clive
  20. Hi Phil, I did the curves but think I may redo them!! The curve starrted out well then ended up a bit straight! Theres a video about this soon. I'm at work at the moment but I'll put a picture up later see what you think. And yes the next bit is the lifting bridge to join the two sections together, drawingss are under way in conjunction with myjoiner buddy! Clive
  21. Been a while since I posted a vid as I've been looking after and ailing elderly dad - thankfully on the road to recovery now. Here's a little clip of the latest addition to the Lyneworth & Millhampton locomotive Stable. Enjoy! Cheers Clive
  22. ilding a Railway, running a business, having an ageing parent who lives 120 miles away is tiring and time consuming! Nearly all of the TMD is laid and I'm working on the curves for Millhampton Station (Lyneworth on the plan! I changed them around!). Here's a quick video to show some of the power setup, and a little video I did for my "Honorary Grandaughter" Emilia (Long story!)!! Hopefully more progress by next week! Clive
  23. Well A bit more has been done! The T?MD is starting to take shape and I've changed to concrete sleeper track for this more modern area. Hopefully I'll be able to blend in the points sleepers with paint and ballast at a later date! Found a couple of things too 1) I've missed out a track joiner between two sets of points (insulated one is in but the metal ones isn't - No idea how I managed that!!!) and 2) an interesting "short" problem at points 1, 2 and 3. If any of these points short out (on PD1) then PD2 shorts out too??? any shorts any where else on PD1 don't affect PD2 at all!! Weird - but I'm sure I'll figure it out! Here's a little intro video for anyone who's not followed the Lyneworth story so far! (How come you always hate your own voice when you hear it played back? Sounds so weird! LOL). Haven't quite figured the thumbnail bit yet! Clive
  24. I'll leave well alone then!!! Cheers
