  7. Sadly all the wheels have sold out already and we can’t get any more. They may still be available elsewhere. I believe Cavalex are trying to get more made
  8. We have released a few dozen analogue locos to our website today from unclaimed orders and cancellations. I have more being released over the weekend, including some sound fitted models, so keep your eyes open or request a stock notification.
  9. What's with all this news of shops closing, shows being stopped and the end of the hobby being nigh... It seems we may be bucking the trend... Trains4U is currently very busy, and we need some extra help. We are looking for someone to join our team at our store in Peterborough for a minimum two days per week. Sundays are essential, then one other day by negotiation. however we also would prefer someone who has the flexibility and willingness to cover holiday or sickness absence among the staff, equating to an additional 8-10 full weeks per year. This would be ideal for someone recently retired, especially if looking for something to keep busy, but without the commitment of full-time hours. Whilst the pay may not buy you your next Porsche, you will be well rewarded. In return for your commitment to us, we will give you a competitive rate of pay, 6 weeks paid holiday per year (based on your average working - approx 16 days), we have a kitchen with freely available hot drinks and occasionally even biscuits. Uniform is provided, we have a Christmas meal, annual bonus and after 3 months a VERY generous staff discount scheme to help pay for your hobbies., you also usually get first pick of the secondhand when it comes in... :) We generally pay a daily rate based on a 7.5 hour day, with Sundays paid the same as other days, despite it being a shorter working day (5 hours) All overtime hours (Agreed in advance) are paid based on day rate/7.5. There is also opportunity to help at shows and occasionally get out and about to meet manufacturers and suppliers or help with obtaining second-hand collections - if you wish to do so. So what would we need from you? Confidence and a willingness to learn- in dealing with the public, answering the phone, learning the shop processes, handling money and offering help and advice. No shrinking violet, but also knowing when to crack on with work (Some customers, whilst lovely, will quite happily use your whole day talking about the hobby!) Diligence - checking in orders, dealing with high value transactions and ensuring online orders are correctly picked and packed Honesty - It's my business and the livelihoods of all my staff I'm trusting you with after all! A helpful and open demeanour - our customers are our number one priority, and we have a many and varied clientele - some of whom can be very challenging, but all of whom want to be there and mostly love coming to our shop. A willingness to engage, help and advise customers is highly valued. A degree of physical fitness There is lots of going up and down stairs - fetching and lifting boxes, occasionally climbing ladders and being on your feet for a lot of the day. you don't need to be super human, but a busy day can leave you feeling tired! What would we like from you? A background in modelling... This is an opportunity to put your skills to the test - by helping and advising others. whilst desirable, this is not essential. We have a good, strong team at Trains4U, but we need even more good people to join us. If you feel that you might be suitable, or perhaps you know someone, please get in touch. You can PM me via RMWeb, or drop an email to info@Trains4u.com titled "Assistant Application" with a brief paragraph about who you are and why you think we'd be interested in working with you. I may then invite you for an informal interview. I look forward to hearing from you! Gareth
  10. We have reasonable stock of the ESU 59629 Lokpilot 5 if you order from us and add in the notes that it is for a Cavalex 56, we will ship it with the correct profile loaded. http://www.trains4u.com/p/301268/ESU-Lokpilot-5-59629
  11. Whilst I would love to take the credit, it’s John, Matt and Mark who are working at the shop and provide the great service! I was busy talking to a Japanese delegation about payment systems integration at the time…
  12. 10 days in and we are still working through orders, though the vast majority have now been sent out. If you are expecting an engine (or more than one) from us, please check your voicemail and/or email, or call us. If we haven’t heard back by next Friday, we will start cancelling orders - unless we’ve made arrangements with you. (Apart from non-uk, who have an extra week) I’m sure we can find homes for any of these - yet to be paid for- class 56s. (deliberately fuzzy for PII reasons!)
  13. I've also added P4 wheelsets to the page, if you need them!
  14. We have added our remaining stocks of Cavalex Models class 56 locomotives to our website... Stocks are limited and selling very fast! We currently have most versions available No DCR Sound No Metals Sound No Construction Sound No 56120 DC (at the moment -unless we get further cancellations) http://www.trains4u.com/c/945/Cavalex
  15. For anyone awaiting a DCC fitted locomotive from us. Cavalex did not offer factory fitted DCC. We offered this to save our customers the trouble of sorting out their own decoders. We are fitting ESU 10 function lokpilots and we are working on obtaining and programming a suitable decoder profile We will ship these models as soon as this work is complete. (Which wont be much longer!) for context, DCC fitted only accounts for about 7% of our pre-orders, which is why it would not have been cost effective to be offered as a factory option.
  16. The GBRf 'Military' twin pack is now available to pre-order Simply register your interest by selecting the form on our homepage at Trains4U.com and entering your details. We will contact you for payment once the sets arrive. And don't forget, you will be helping us support two very worthy causes. For each set produced, Trains4U will donate £10 to the Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA) and £10 to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC)
  17. We are stock checking this week and we hope to be able to release some stock for general sale. quite a few people are not picking up the phone… if we call you, pick up or you might miss out!
  18. We don’t require deposits however you can add credit to your account via our website at any time this can be used to purchase anything you wish…
  19. This is really sad and shocking news. Hattons were often touted as the bogeyman amongst many smaller retailers, You'd often hear proprieters complaining about them, but, a bit like Tesco to a corner shop, they were bloody good at what they did. The most successful player in any marketplace is bound to attract critics - but they must have done something right, otherwise the obvious outpouring of reminiscences and condolences wouldn't be happening. To me they weren't only competition, but also an organisation with standards to aspire to, a target to aim for (In the positive sense!) and a yardstick against which all retailers could be measured. I'm pleased to say that I've always had a very good relationship with Hatton's and it's been a privilege to have been able to offer their products through my shop. It was always nice to catch up with Richard at shows and have a chat, about business and life. Hopefully he will still be knocking about in future and we can catch up again... Like them or not, Hatton's are a cornerstone of the model railway hobby in the UK and abroad. Their closure will be felt widely and they will be missed by many, whether they realise it or not. I for one will certainly feel their loss. I wish all the staff well for the future and I hope the shutdown leads to a successful outcome for the owners of the business so that they can pursue their future ambitions.
  20. Yes thanks, and the Warwells are still on track for delivery. As I'm sure you've read, the shutdown is being done over time in an orderly fashion and the production of the warwells will be seen through by them.
  21. Hi they are now listed (although without images just yet) along with the Warrior and N gauge items
  22. We also have two exclusive versions of the Hattons Warwell coming… due in March/April
  23. I use Citadel paint a lot (including some 30 year old pots…) and its not just available in warhammer stores! if you venture upstairs at my place, you’ll find this lot…
