  1. Ahh if that's the case l think a little redesign maybe in order. So perhaps a dummy siding leading up to the end door would be the answer like this? I m aware that the track work is becoming to neat and tidy for a light railway, l m sure my track laying will sort that issue out.
  2. Ahh thanks Jason, l m currently designing a smallish Ffestiniogie 009 layout, which originally had the wagon access road on a loop, hence my thoughts about the insulated turntables, however l ve now adjusted the loop to sidings with the tables at the end section of the siding, hopefully minimising any loco issues, here's a first rough outline of what l have in mind Cheers Bob C
  3. Thanks Jason, l d not thought about that end door you mentioned, mmm so that could be for wagons........ l ve spent hours going through various web site and although there's lots of photos/information there's nothing pertinent to these styles of buildings or how they were used. As for the Peco Wagon Turntable, after looking at it it appears to be electrically dead so that could pose a problem if locos were to pass over them. More digging on these beasties required. cheers Bob C
  4. I think l might be getting somewhere with this building. I ve come across an old "Narrow Gauge" plan on the internet, it shows in the bottom lower left hand corner what l suspect is a "Slate Processing" building. What's interesting is that the siding adjacent to the structure has two what look like wagon turntables on it. They appear to line up with "Shutes" in the side of the building. Am l interpreting this plan correctly?
  5. Just wondering if anyone has either a Bachmann 44 0102 Slate built water tower or 44 0103 Slate built coal store, that they no longer require? If in the off chance you do please PM me Many thanks Bob C
  6. I have recently acquired a few of the Bachmann 4mm scale Narrow Gauge Slate buildings, which appear to be very nice models indeed. However the Slate Processing building has me scratching my head as to how it should be situated within a railway environment. I have a couple of books on the Padarn and Penrhyn railways, but have found nothing to help me within their pages. From what l can see there are to "Loading shutes" at the front of the building and suspect that the un dressed slate enters the building via these, which would necessitate them being close to some track work? Can anyone help me out of this, please? Cheers Bob C
  7. Ive just bought a second hand copy of L&B drawn and measured, excellent book, but ouch to the price!, this book can t be as bad can it?
  8. Many thanks Andy, l appreciate your help in this matter. You mentioned "Little Giants" is that refering to a book or web site? Cheers Bob C
  9. Thanks Johnster, all the pieces will come together l m sure! Cheers Bob C
  10. l m scratching my head on this one........... Bachmann produce two versions of Merddin Emrys in 009. One in lined green with open cab roof (391 100) and one in lined maroon with enclosed cab (391 101) I ve been trying to identify the date that covers the earlier green version. There is information available about the modifications this locomotive received during its long life but nothing about the change of livery from green to red. Can anyone help please? Fingers crossed Bob C
  11. Hi Paul I very cheekily PM'd Richard yesterday evening, and he advised me, that the models come with the the name and builders plates printed on the tank side, but there is a set of etched name plates for the loco in question included for the owner to add if they so wish. So l ve contacted RoS to change my order to three "Exe"s and l ll use the LRS plates you mentioned. Bob C
  12. That's great news Richard, I can have all three locos in 1898 condition then! One very happy bunny! We just need a few more coaches in 1898 condition and a couple of goods wagons/vans ?
  13. Quick question to the L&B experts lurking within RMweb, I note that currently Lionheart list Exe in as delivered livery and details. Does anyone know if that includes the locally modified pipe work she received after thieves stole some of the original fittings? The replacement pipe work sat higher over the boiler and therefore made the engine more easily identifiable. I m interested to find this out as, if not it hoping that a change of name and builders plates would be all that's needed to allow me to model both Yeo and Taw in as delivered condition using two additional "Exe"s models as base models Any thoughts folks? Bob C
  14. Hi Phil I ve given your suggestion a go and there are certainly a lot of returns, but the ones l ve checked on so far are generic and not pure GWR. I ll have more time this evening to use a bigger shovel ! Thanks Phil
  15. Hi Dave, thanks for the tip. I ve got 4 cats in the family and don't fancy them having a chew at white metal ones!
  16. I ve been trying to source some 4mm scale GWR platform lamps. They are proving quite elusive to find. I see DCC concepts, used to make working lamps, but l believe they are now discontinued, can anyone recommend a suitable alternative please? Fingers crossed Bob C
  17. Hi folks, just a quickie, does anyone have or know of anyone who has a Bachmann Collett Goods, GW Churchward Tender version (32-304a) they be happy to part with? Cheers Bob C
  18. Suspect l m a little late to the party on this one. I m seeking a Hornby Collett Bow Ended All Third corridor coach R4679 (In pre 1934 GWR livery), does any one have one for sale or know where l could locate one please? Cheers Bob C
  19. After a bit more trawling through the "Tinter Web" l can came across this page on the GWR.Org site. This is a basic everything you need to know but were afraid to ask about large prairies sort of thing, Question now answered. Sliding cab shutters were fitted as new to 5190–99 and 4100–79, and were fitted to the earlier locomotives from 1933 onwards http://www.gwr.org.uk/no-prairies.html Bob C
  20. Can anyone please help I m trying to identify when the Collett 5101 class of large prairie tanks were fitted with the sliding cab shutters, as later fitted as standard on the 41xx and 61xx? I am asking as l m thinking of renumbering my Hornby 61xx which has side shutters) to a 5101 class. Many thanks in advance Bob C
  21. I ve just tracked down and ordered the very same models. Smashing, at least l know l ve go it right and oredered the correct ones for once! Cheers Bob C
