  1. Ahh l see, thank you so much for correcting me, we are learning every day! Cheers Bob C
  2. This is going toi sound very silly but to make up a typical 4 car set, say RH side, as i understand when made up correctly all the vents would be on the same side. So does that mean both Brakes are RH or does on need to be a LH to keep all vents on the same side? Bob C
  3. To Be Honest........ No One Can🤣
  4. Ahh right then its feasible, gulp that means l need to buy one now! The wife's going to kill me
  5. Thanks PB, l think that will be the fall back position, if no suitable examples can be found. It now rests on finding the best priced example, which seem to be a well know shop in Sheffield currently, and being able to swop the centre doors over. I ve read somewhere that the power cars of the 4BEP are actually new tooling and not based on the previous 4CEP model? Bob C
  6. Thanks for the conformation FP! Well that's that problem sorted then, so that leaves finding a 4BEP in Green livery without UIC markings (Red and Yellow head bands) around 1966 Cheers Bob C
  7. I ve just gone through Bachmann's spares web site and found this item listed for both 31-490 Green version, and 31-491 Blue/Grey versions . Is this the correct Commonwealth version? It seems to be only fitted to the Blue/Grey versions according to photos l found on the web
  8. Ahh that sounds an interesting suggestion, well worth a look, many thanks that's got me wondering if its possible to obtain the correct bogies from Bachmann, as fitted to the later Blue/Grey version? Bob C
  9. Thanks gents, it seems that the bogies could be an issue then. Most likely why Bachmann chose the earlier time frame for the Green version, I knew it was to good to be true. I m going to check again on the "Blood and Custard" web site to see what info it has on bogies Bob C
  10. I happened to be unpacking a Green SYWP Bachmann 4CEP earlier today, and saw the additional end gangway door that's provided to allow the owner to alter head code blinds if they choose. The thought struck me that since the newer Bachmann 4BEP is basically a 4CEP with a buffet car, the motor coaches must be the same as the original issue 4CEPs? If that is the case then the plain green end doors on the 4BEP could be replaced with the spare end door with SYWP from the 4CEP, giving you a post 1962 model? Can anyone confirm this or have l missed something? Cheers Bob C
  11. Top of my wish list is a CIG or BIG in Green with SYWP............ well one can dream!
  12. Hi Phil Thanks for the the help My SR layout is set on the Wimbledon to West Croydon line in the spring of 1966, on the single line section. The station, Babington lane is based on Beddington lane, with an EMU stabling point added for the indigenous 2EBPs working the line. The layout is a tail chaser which allows the models to stretch their legs every so often, and also allows me to run almost any other EMU as an ECS move between the LSWR and LBSCR main lines. Just to add variety the occasional parcels or freight can be seen passing through as well! Once again many thanks Bob C
  13. Does anyone know if there is someone producing suitable platform benches for BR Southern region layouts in 00 gauge, please? Fingers crossed Bob C
  14. Ah right ,l have seen one of these once before, on an RhB web site, Seeing yours got me all excited thinking l d missed potential model. Thanks for your reply
  15. Where did you get the Krock from, Nutbrook?
  16. I suspect that would mean round lights and Green livery, that would be nice to see, thanks Paul
  17. Thanks Paul, sad news indeed. I wonder if they will return the preserved one to original condition with the three windows cabs? Bob C
  18. Sad to hear that the 7xx 6/6 iis have been withdrawn, when were they withdrawn from service?
  19. Could someone please help? I m currently building a te-miniatur's timber kit for the RhB's Rueun Station Building in Nm scale. The problem l m having is finding a suitable colour for the roof tiles. In certain photos the tiles look a sort of purple/brown colour, in others, more an orange/grey. Could anyone suggest a suitable colour from a proprietary range please? Fingers crossed Bob C
  20. Carrying on from the last topic, whilst looking for more photos of traffic over the branch, l found myself drawn to the camping coach S38S at Combpyne halt. As understand it the coach in question was a 1954 replacement for the previous 6 wheeler. I believe this was an ex LSWR composite vehicle built around 1904. I was wondering if one of Hornby's R4795 SR Ex LSWR Non-Corridor 3rd Class (Diag 31) coaches would serve as a basis for conversion ? This would require the removal of steps at the coach ends and the replacement of the oval buffers with round ones. All the colour images l ve seen of this coach show it in Green, but as the Southern often re varnished coaches could this coach have survived into the late 1950s in Southern Green? As an alternative perhaps i could try one of Hornbys Generic 6 wheelers SR coaches to represent the LC&D vehicle the LSWR coach replaced? Bob C
  21. I d like to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to contribute to this thread. The information has been a massive help in my very basic research. I am indebted to you all. Bob C
  22. Thanks for the advice, l ll look out a suitable LSWR beastie, pity about Kernow's Road Van, lovely model! I take it that the Bachmann SR Pillbox is a "full fat" version and therefore now suitable either?
  23. I know l am going to get shot by pestering folks, but is that a Maunsell Brake Composite coach in the top photo?
