  1. Hi, I have been looking at some locomotive/rolling stock storage boxes with foam slots and before I purchased some I was wondering whether some one knew where I could purchase similar plastics wrapping that Bachmann locomotive ice cube packaging has glued in as that I can prevent any potential scratching/reaction to the foam or the plastic that comes in the Ellis Railworks locomotive boxes. Thank you very much for any assistance to this possibly strange request. Charles
  2. If anyone is looking for formations Mordern Locomotives Illustrated Issue 249 has a brilliant article about nuclear rail traffic and has some brilliant images of KUA train formations from the last ten years, tempted to try the formation on pages 42-43 if a Bachmann Class 57 can haul both of these excellent wagons. If you want a copy let me know and [Admin Edit - you can go and buy it!]
  3. Hi, I’ve have recently become aware of a oo scale locomotive of mine that is in dire need of a bit of servicing and I was wondering whether there were any recommendations for a grease that I can use to make sure all the gears and worm drives are lubricated. Any suggestions are appreciated as I have been looking at the Woodland Scenics Hob-E-Lube Moly Grease but I’m not sure whether this would be a good option so feedback would be welcome people have used this. Thanks very much.
  4. Thanks very much for the suggestions so far, they have really helped. Most of the tools I have enquired about will be for servicing/modifying locomotives, laying track and electrical work purposes predominantly however it is always worth knowing what is needed if I were to branch out into kit building. Thanks again.
  5. Hi, Having only just started the modelling aspects of this hobby, having been a collector for many years, I was looking for some recommendations for what tools that I should be possibly purchasing. The here tools that I have having the most problems in working out what to get due to the high variety: A decent soldering iron that doesn’t take up to much space and stand that if possible can hold additional things like brass wool A high quality set of precision screwdrivers (preferably magnetic) mainly for locomotive repair/servicing A high quality set of set of files suitable for detailed work A multimeter Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
  6. Thanks for all your suggestions. In the end I put a ViTrains chassis in the Class 37 & and the chassis from one of the Hornby Railroad Class 47 for my Res Publica locomotive. For anyone else looking to do this for the Class 47, it is worth noting that the main glazing units also need to be switched out as Hornby has made adjustments to theirs to fit the bracket that the motor clips into. Thanks again, Charles
  7. Hi, This may sound like bit of a strange question but would anyone be able to tell me the distances between the headlights on the Bachmann Class 37/5 e.g 32-387 Class 37 37506 in Railfreight Red stripe Livery, for a project that I am planning. Thanks very much
  8. Thanks 37114. I have actually found a Bachmann Class 47 in RES livery that I am going to possibly purchase to replace my Lima one, which will keep the train pack complete
  9. Thanks, do the Bachmann Class 47 chassis’s work as I am wondering whether I can avoid the bogie based motors. Thanks again.
  10. Hi, Firstly apologies if this has already been answered. The question I have is that I have owned a couple of Lima locomotives (Class 37 & 47) for quite sometime and I came to the conclusion that I would try and upgrade them as so to replace the ringfield motors and I have been wondering whether I could use current Bachmann chassis’s to do this. As far as I have worked out the easier option is to use ViTrains chassis’s and to just fit the old bodies. However I am trying to future proof and considering that spares for ViTrains are quite difficult to obtain I was wondering whether purchasing a Bachmann Class 37 & 47 would work. Thanks very much.
