I scored 30 which didn't surprise me - I do have some very strong Aspergers/Autism traits. Good luck to those awaiting diagnoses.

12 hour shift survived. Patricia may be bound for Greenock rather than Swansea.

POETS day may be dawning for some of you but it will be an anti-POETS day for me. My days off are currently Wednesday and Thursday so Friday is the start of my working week. And I have, perhaps unwisely, agreed to a 12 hour shift tomorrow. But at least the manager who phoned me just now didn't suggest extending it any further, he just gave me more work to do in the existing time.
#livingthedream
And yes, I do like my job. Which is just as well really.

Mr and Mrs Stationmaster report their arrival aboard. They were greeted with tea and home made cake, followed by champagne.
We've had a couple of heavy showers. They did nothing for the laundry but the garden is looking cheerful.

We'll turn you into an Early Riser yet.
I'm definitely an ER these days. I've done so many early starts at work lately that i'm having trouble sleeping past 6.
Maybe we should have an RMWeb trip to see Dom and his trams?

No e it is. Oxford Gold in this case, quite a pleasant drink. I recall having Brakspears Special, but it was a while ago. It was in the Hole in the Wall opposite Waterloo station IIRC, on our honeymoon, 31 years ago gone March! Yet the Oxford Gold brought back the memory of the taste of the Special, so it must be roughly similar.
As for Donk, he's on a tight rein at the moment, after flirting so dangerously with Dr SC. He'll have to speak to Mike to ask for her hand in such a cross-breed marriage! They did look very happy together, Donk has shown good taste, Dr SC is a nice girl/woman/lady * (*delete as appropriate to not cause offence) as well as obviously highly intelligent.
Well there's only one possible rating for that post - thanks.
Donk is a gentleman. Must be the influence of the company he keeps.

Good fecking morning. I'm on a fecking train to fecking swansea that's fecking late because some fecking feck was on the fecking tracks at fecking Reading. Thus begins week 9 of a fecking 7 week project. FECK. feckitty feckitty feck feck feck.
Have a fecking good day all.
Fecking fecktards
Good luck with that mate.

Evening all.
Making an attempt to catch up after the weekend, it was really nice to meet Stationmaster Mike and Dr Station Cat, who are both gregarious good company. Donk was ready to leave with Dr Cat, I think there's something going on there, we will have to watch him. He had a new shirt bought at the show, so he now has a Hawaiian holiday shirt - I'll see if I can get a shot reduced to post later. I think he got it to impress Dr C, seemed to work.
We had a bit of a whistle stop tour around with Debs nephew who came over from Swansea, where he has settled after going to Uni there, and getting his MA in automotive design. Nice lad who had a difficult childhood, due to usual family shenanigans, but put himself through Uni having earned every penny of it himself.
Rain though.....did we get some of that this afternoon! And folk have the cheek to say Fraggle Rock is wet, I don't know. I would have used an exclamation mark there, but I'm an offender with those....and serial full stops indicating a pause for effect......like that. Maybe a hyphen is more correct? There's nothing correct about my use of the written or spoken English language anyway. Ahm a Geordie ya knaa.
As this campsite at Wallington is very nice we have decided to stay another night and go into Oxford tomorrow. Just had a very nice curry too, in a curry house that wasn't ashamed to call itself Bangladeshi. Most 'Indian' restaurants are anyway but don't have the honesty to say so.
Us small furry types have to stick together
It was really nice to meet the four of you, I hope you enjoy the rest of the trip - though it doesn't look like you'll have good weather today.
I was going to do some gardening but it looks like being a bit wet. Perhaps i'll finish my holiday diary instead then?
Belated congratulations and commiserations as appropriate.

Any comments from his sister?

Sorry i'm late. Touch of finger trouble. Well hand trouble actually, being as it was nearer wrist level where it got squashed. It isn't broken so i've been told to elevate it (but not been given a sling) and rest it (but i've not been signed off work)...
In any case I am still in working order, as indeed is my brother post bollard incident. Well that's what he says when he gets home from certain nights out anyway.

I can't believe you lot are encouraging Roundhouse to lie about the destruction of the plants.
Just hope it destroys them completely and then deny that they existed in the first place. Plants, what plants?

Well done Jock.
Other congratulations/commiserations as appropriate.
Today's exciting news is that my old school has at last achieved fame. I'm so proud #not http://www.getreading.co.uk/news/local-news/denefield-teacher-banned-life-after-6283897

Well I was thinking about making the Stationmaster a sausage sarnie but I can't possibly live up to that level of artistry.

Happy Anniversary Tony and Aditi.
I really ought to see about some lunch before I have to go to work, not sure the travelogue will be getting an update today.

there is a web site that loves to post those pics. Just google "yplac" which stands for You Park Like A ...................
I was hoping for something a bit more publically humiliating

More great OBB pics and memories. Thanks Dave.
I spent a week in Seefeld in 1990 and took the train to Innsbruck. A short walk from the station took me to this location with a great view for trainwatching.

Is that the Olympia Brucke?

On the subject of rude road users, I was waiting for the bus today when a very respectable looking older lady drove up and left her car parked on double yellow lines blocking the bus stop. I'm wondering whether to send the photo to the police or the local paper. Selfish cow.

Flavio, I know how Lucy feels.

Who is stuffing you with frankfurters then?

After his Baltic and Balkan jaunts Matthew seems to have developed a taste for pickled cabbage.
Not so keen on that. German style potato salad on the other hand...

I’ve actually been offered a “Pickled Pepper” for breakfast at a hotel in Belgrade. I turned it down saying that I “picked it” already...........to much bemusement.
Best, Pete.
My favourite think about German hotel breakfasts (and it also seems to be a feature of Bosnian and Croatian hotel breakfasts, perhaps because of all the German visitors) is the gherkins.

Ahh, a rest day! TT is over.
So much for that, all day doing jobs on the camper van and then in the garden, I'm knackered!
Jock, sorry to disillusion, but it's only a Panasonic Lumix compact! TZ35 or something like that. They do have Leica lenses, it is the second one we have had after the first developed a fault after many, many photos and being abused regularly - they live in my pocket when out on the bikes! If you PM me your e mail then I can send a higher resolution shot of John McPint for your screen!
Just checked - DMC-TZ35. Very easy to use, generally shutter priority for the bike stuff but you can just let it do everything! Oddly this one isn't as good for model (railway....) photography as the earlier one we had, losing out on depth of field which I don't understand. I must see what is hidden in the menus.....we've had it over a year and I have only just realised it has a burst mode.
Stewart, thanks for recognising we're not all nutters.
You say only but I have one too - mine is a TZ25 and I reckon it's a great little camera. I've taken some picture i'm really pleased about with it. (Those of you reading my travel report may or may not agree about the quality of said images). Not great for layouts though it must be said.

Just a gentle reminder that the Summer Poultice will soon be upon us, and there are only 193 shopping days till Christmas.
Where's the dislike button when you need it?

I saw the highlights of the TT sidecar race last night. Those pillion riders must be totally nuts.

I got 14 on the empathy test, i'm that person who inadvertently offends people with monotonous regularity.
I don't like conversational nuance at all, though I don't mind it in written things.
