  1. Photos taken over the past couple of weeks, a rather multi-national selection PW crew at Brussels Midi Shunters Zagreb Wheeltapper Zagreb Coupling up Volinja Station master somewhere in Bosnia War memorial for railway staff, somewhere in Bosnia
  2. Best wishes to you both Dave. I have started sorting out my holiday pictures and downloading them to photobucket. There are over 550 of them. My poor old computer is struggling
  3. Good evening from Brussels where I am awaiting my Eurostar home. Today's excitement has been sitting opposite a bloke who strongly resembles Adolf Hitler, albeit in a blonde and big eyed way.
  4. In this case it was autocorrect. I had a nice day out, in spite of the weather which was threatening downpours all day although very little actually fell.I squeezed in a cheeky trip to Lindau as well as the planned jaunt to Friedrichshafen, the joys of a one day regional train pass. Now all I have to do is make it home tomorrow, fingers crossed that the 20 minute connection in Frankfurt works out ok.
  5. Please do. The UK suffers from a lack of first raiders and it really impacts our survival rates for things like heart attacks. Actually there's an online CPR trainer, I think it's lifesaver.org Well done Bill, good thing you got there when you did. It's my last day on holiday, Friedrichshafen beckons
  6. I am in Ulm. But of an odd mixture of medieval and modern but the solar powered boat ride up the Danube was great
  7. Morning all. Just about to leave Nuremberg for Ulm
  8. Quite possibly. But something with lots of veg for lunch first. Incidentally the ICE I caught from Munich to Nuremberg did a full on emergency stop. That was interesting.
  9. Zagreb actually has a massive fruit and veg market, so there certainly is stuff to be had I've only flown into Newark but I thought it was ok - five minutes to clear immigration cover s a multitude of sins! Anyway, greetings from sunny Nuremberg
  10. Depends on which way round. Good afternoon from Zagreb where the weather is sunny and there appears to be a distinct lack of asparagus.
  11. So I wasted my time coming up with 6 alternative plans for getting home then? My last evening in Sarajevo is being marked by a major thunderstorm. On to Zagreb tomorrow.
  12. That's the one. They've changed some of the graffiti though.
  13. Evening all. I can report that there is some downright scary driving in Bosnia. I went on a tour today and we went up a mountain to see the bobsled track. For most of the journey we were following somebody who was apparently oblivious to the fact that he was about to part company with one of his wheels. Luckily our tour guide was a safe driver in a well maintained vehicle.
  14. Good evening from Sarajevo, where the hills are green and the sun is shining. I am on route to Nuremberg but it's a rather circular route. Can anyone suggest a way to get photos onto here from my phone? Otherwise I am afraid you will have to wait til I get home and then suffer from severe pic spam. No asparagus here. Incidentally the stuff in Cologne came with hollandaise, boiled potatoes and schnitzel.
  15. Good evening from Cologne, where the much vaunted asparagus is nowhere near as good as the English stuff.
  16. Afternoon all. I'm off on holiday for 11 days tomorrow so have spent the morning doing the packing. Just a few minor details to look up now, such as whether one gets to Cologne airport by U-bahn or S-bahn. Commiserations to Sherry, good luck to Jock.
  17. There are preserved railways operating from Totnes and Paignton. Paignton is the Dart Valley and you can do a combined boat/train trip. Or you could just walk along the sea wall at Dawlish trainspotting admiring the beauties of nature.
  18. Many thanks for all the birthday wishes. Yesterday made it a very happy birthday indeed. So 2 days worth of picspam coming up. Railex (CAUTION: TRAINS) Aberbeeg Loch Tat, whoever did the scenery and back scene on this is a talented artist Black Country Blues, looking a bit misty on this may morning Frecclesham was the layout I enjoyed most Perhaps it was the communication between the operators Moving onto Wembley... Walking down Wembley Way The view from the nosebleed section Post match pics Sorry about the quality of this one, apparently cameras don't work so well when you're jumping up and down
  19. Don't forget the ani-inflammatory effects of ice, I'd consider branching out into cider or Pimms.
  20. I have a ticket. Weekend Complete! Til Norwich lose anyway...
  21. Well you've evidently done a thorough job on it, I just hope the medics do the same
