  1. Please tell me I'm not the only Discworld reader finding this sewing discussion rather amusing.
  2. That's bad. At least I have a shadow A most satisfactory sporting day for me. Norwich snatched a 90something minute winner at Bolton and, on a more local note, Oxford won the boat race and the Grand National winner is a Lambourne trained horse
  3. That's a really nice looking layout. I love your loco shed
  4. Don't fancy coming over and splititng ours do you? We'll give you tea and possibly a bacon sandwich.
  5. Sounds a bit big, what about a blow dart? Or a harpoon gun?
  6. I suppose lassoing drones would be a good challenge
  7. I shouted down for him to check his PMs
  8. Are you coming upstairs to read it or shall I just post it on here?
  9. I think everything within Germany is available online, but some international stuff isn't. I had to phone them to: book Zagreb-Munich by overnight train (though I think the day trains can be booked online), make a seat reservation from Brussels to Cologne (you can buy tickets online but not seat reservations on their own) and buy a ticket from Ulm to London (which should have been bookable online but wasn't for some unknown reason).
  10. I think that DB Ticketing is easy enough provided you are prepared to do a bit of research before buying. I certainly found their UK call center to be very helpful - but I did know exactly what I wanted. The only real problem I had was some tickets not being available online.
  11. My not very good Ally Pally pics (i'll post a few more in the thread in exhibitions) Interesting platform marking at Alexandra Palace Station Wellmich am Rhein Mer Les Bains Sandford& Bandwell Waterloo Street
  12. Evening all. We have returned to Ally Pally - nice to see/meet various RM webbers there. I have taken some pics but i'm not sure if they're any good. I was very good and only bought a book.
  13. I think that's still going on some US airlines And if you want to know what it was like on 9/11http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/united-airlines-mileageplus/499645-listening-channel-9-september-11-2001-a.html
  14. Good news Jock. Interestingly, Norwegian airlines have just announced that their flights will now be required to have two people in the cockpit at all times.
  15. I too have got lost in Preston.
  16. The local suggestion was Towcester. That's over 50 miles away so I really wouldn't call it local
  17. It suggests I should move to North Lincolnshire though i'd only be marginally ahppier than I am now. Apparently I should avoid Lambeth which sounds like quite a good plan
  18. The crash site is reportedly over 2 hours walk from the nearest road, the recovery services are not going to have an easy time of it. It is also reported that the largest bit of debris is about the same size as a small car.
  19. I have one booked for the end of May. Oh well, I bet they'll be paying a lot of attention to safety. Poor sods on the plane, I wonder what happened to it? Very odd thing to happen to a Western European airline
  20. Ahh celebrity encounters. I once threw Noel Gallagher out of my reserved train seat. He was very polite about it. I've also seen Ian Duncan Smith and Nigel Worthington (then manager of Norwich City) on trains. And i'm sure I saw Damian Lewis in Tesco a couple of months ago. Anyway, onto the slab laying. Or not. The card fraud paperwork has finally arrived from my bank.
  21. St Peter's didn't do much for me. I found it very large, very dark and a rather inhuman presentation of religion. Also far too ostentatious for my tastes. I like the cathedral in Stockholm which is very plain but has the most wonderful statue of St George
  22. I've heard they're pretty good nowadays. They have improved since being bought by Emirates. I've never tried Ryanair, Heathrow is our local airport so it's mostly BA for us. I do have Germanwings to sarajevo coming up though
  23. BA do some very good flight plus hotel deals via their website so it might be worth you having a look - though you would have to go to Heathrow or Gatwick, and you may or may not think Willy Walsh is a nicer man than Michael O'Leary.
