  1. Thank you. Followed your instructions and it works! Thank you once again!
  2. I have a Black 5 fitted with the above sound decoder. I have now wired an LED for "Firebox Glow." My understanding is that by pressing F6 (Coal Shovelling) should switch on the LED. However it is not. I am fairly new to all this. I have rung the installer who suggested setting CV's 430,432 and 434 to 1 and 127 t 8 but still no light. On the 8 pin decoder the blue (common) and Green (aux F1) have been used and the LED with resistor has been connected the right way. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?
  3. I am thinking of have "smoke" installed in my Locos although it seems quite a big investment. TRS Trains seem to have a lot of reviews through some model press and blogs. Has anyone any experience of their work?
  4. Thank you for the replies....and it worked. I had tried F28 before but nothing happened. I didn't realise it was an on/off function so maybe that was what I was doing wrong. Thanks again guys. Paul
  5. Hi Ray Thanks for replying. I used F27 which was to decrease the volume. I'm sorry. Although a very experienced exhibition modeller, I'm afraid I'm still in kindergarten regarding DCC. How do I read CV267? Thanks. Paul
  6. Hi. I have a ZIMO (MX658) installed in a LMS Ivatt. This has worked fine but always found it to be too loud. I have tried to decrease it but seem to have now reduced it to something only a dog could hear. I have tried to follow the bland instructions but cannot increase the sound again to an acceptable level. Can anyone help please. I am using a NCE Power cab. Thanks in anticipation.
  7. Thanks for replying. Food for thought and I'll look into your suggestions.
  8. Hi. The lorry I have running around the circuit is too fast. Has anyone got ideas for slowing them down. Could a resister be used?
  9. Thanks guys. I'm in the process of disconnecting each device in turn. The joys of model railways and electrics, eh? And we love it!
  10. Hi Can anybody help please. I have a layout where the stock run on DCC, However, my points ( 9 Tortoise) and signals (4 bouncing) operate through my control panel on 12 v DC. My locos are running perfectly ... and so were my points and signals up to a few days ago! Now the points struggle to activate and the signals not at all. I have checked the output on the controller and this is fine although I have noticed it is getting rather hot. Looking at all the wires and connections on the control panel and under the board I am losing the will to live!! Has anyone experienced this problem and have any suggestions on what to check first as to what is causing the problem. Thanks in anticipation.
  11. The original Hornby speaker and the new speaker are 8ohms
  12. Having spent a lot of money over the years installing "high end" sound to my OO locos , I thought I would try Hornby TTS. This is the first I have installed myself. I fitted it initially to a DCC ready 9F and it worked. However, I then decided to refit it to an "Austerity" which would mean hard wiring. I have followed all the instructions and made sure the right connections were made. The loco runs perfectly but there is no sound other than a very quiet initial "squawk." Thinking I had somehow blown the speak I have bought an upgrade only to find exactly the same problem. It obviously isn't the speaker and thinking it is the chip. Has anyone got any ideas what this may be or anything I can try before writing it off as a bad experience?
  13. Hi everyone. Can anyone identify this plastic card please. I have used sheets of the stuff but, having run out, I cannot find any on the internet. It is 4mm scale and I believed it was Slaters plasticard. A product number would be great and then building can commence again. Thanks in anticipation.
