  1. The LNER dyno car is on my hit list this year, not going to pass on that one again!! John
  2. Bachman, one "n". I don't think they're related, at least I hope not....
  3. Also applies to J S Bach, as noted by Douglas Adams in Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency...
  4. Could you measure the wheelbase please (mm)? It would be nice to put that behind an LNER pacific to augment the adhesion. John
  5. Having missed the previous runs, I'm not making that mistake again! Just ordered two identical plain green locos. A bit unfortunate there weren't some number variations available, but renumbering will be easy on an unweathered loco. Will be converted to P4 with Kadee couplers. Thanks Rails!!
  6. Knight of Thistle always irked me. and Pullman car Loraine instead of Lorraine...
  7. Yes, but the roof details identify the First class car as a 1928 All-steel K car, whilst the third class is a standard K car with underframe trussing and wooden body. John
  8. Thank you for the replies, I think I'm going for 3'8". Has anyone counted the number of spokes yet? John
  9. I just received my E2001 from Rails, what a nice engine! So here's the question. What was the original wheel diameter? The model material states 4' 1/2”, whereas other sources state 3'8". As I'm going to convert it to P4 I'd like to know what it should be. Thanks! John
  10. I model in P4 18.83 mm gauge and some older makes of plastic-based track would become under-gauge, especially on curves. I cut the outer sides of some of the chairs, allowing the rail to move outwards very slightly, and then I was able, just, to insert a track gauge. The application of a soldering iron for a few seconds allowed the gauge to set to the correct value, and a few drops of superglue secured everything, Definitely works for me. John
  11. The past tense of dive is dived, not dove....
  12. I think that distinction would actually go to Bud Light. (or Michelob, etc...)
  13. I have an 8-car rake of OO scale Standard K and All Steel K-Pullmans, with three different roof colours. The Standard Ks have the most realistic grey, although too shiny, so my intention is to (have my son) airbrush all eight with the closest grey, and then uniformly weather them with soot etc representative of the late 1950s. We have an extensive selection of Tamiya paints - is there a recommendation for base "clean" colour, and weathering treatment please? Thanks! John
