  1. Thanks, I've now managed to import the file to the second device & also managed to get the Z21 app running on a windows laptop using Bluestacks albeit a little slow - the commands seem to work instantly but the display is sometimes a little slow to acknowledge. To me, it would have been nice if Roco/Fleischmann had developed the app to run on windows as well as Android & Apple.
  2. Not forgetting ; Fix Or Repair Daily & remaining off topic can anyone complete please (I've forgotton the rest) ; Loud And Noisy Drafty Rattles Oil leaks Viabrates E R
  3. As for #5 - may as well move it a few miles SE - the runway is already there, plenty of room for supporting services & far closer to a railway line, fast road links & a ferry facility.
  4. Indeed, & I have worked for a number of companies in the business of moving food around. They make sure that they get the driver to sign for "infringements" & hate it when the drivers make notes on the sheets such as "route badly planned with regard to resting places. So, when VDSA check up all the records look like they (the employers) are squeaky clean & of course it looks like the drivers are always at fault. One major supermarket I worked for often loaded the 18 tonners with drinks on the front making thre front axel overweight (although the overall weight was OK). Fortunatly, they had an axel weigher but did not really encourage it's use & it was often defective anyway. However, if a truck felt "wrong" (& a decent driver can tell) I would break the seals, have a look & if not happy would insist on it being reloaded).
  5. In theory yes, but how many outgoing containers are actually checked ? Ever wondered how stolen cars are exported ? - they certainly don't have any paperwork.
  6. Indeed, but the haulage business is very good at covering up these activities.
  7. It's not that simple for some drivers. I've worked as an agency HGV driver & seen the pressure some employers put on drivers - some well known names that have a nice public image can be just as bad as the shoestring outfits. These pressures can range from skipping the daily walk round/setting your start time on the tacho when you get into the cab, not when you actually turn up for duty & driving far too fast for prevailing conditions. Not forgetting setting the tacho for break when loading unloading. As for me, no way would I comply with any of that - any faults & I would not take the truck out, hence not being sent to some companies. For me, plenty of agency work about anyway.
  8. Exactly my point - we need less technology & more human input. There are many people like yourself who will happily take a hit" for the occasional time they get it wrong, but the passive type of enforcement so loved by the authorities will not educate the bad/irresponsibe drivers at all.
  9. Of course not, but Traffic Policemen are pretty good at spotting those "worth a pull". There is the added benefit that those stopped may just hallen to lose their wheels if there is no insurance or MOT - something else that "after the event" enforcement will not detect.
  10. Agreed, but evidence from dashcams as an example is still very much an "after the event" action. I'm convinced that pro-active traffic policing is better long term. There is the embarassment of being actually stopped & of course plod can keep you there for a while checking things & adding to the inconveiniance.
  11. & of course windy things sticking up all over the place.
  12. We all seem to agree that driving standards these days are in a decline. It seems to me that the decline in driving standards runs in tandem with the decline in active policing. The sight of "TrafPol" is getting pretty rare thesedays. I'm beginning to miss the sights of a Jam Sandwich - nothing like a few of those around to keep the errant drivers in check. It seems like they are going to trial a new camera system that can detect various offences such as speeding (of course), driving tailgating, not wearing seatbelts, using various "devices" & will be equiped with facial recodnition & will be able to "see" round 360deg. IMHO, these passive type detection systems do absolutely nothing to educate drivers by slapping them with a fine & brownie points days after the even. Nothing like the embarassment of being pulled over for everyone else to see & spoken to serverly by a serious faced man with a notebook, peaked cap & a moustache. Especially if you have passengers in the car. Lets get bback to proper roads policing where the man with the moustache will use descretion where it may very well be more effective. Too many people simply regards speeding type tickets as part of driving thesedays & have no fear of the blue flashing lights in the mirror.
  13. Great location for an airport with all those migratory birds around.
  14. AFAIK the maximum that can be exported to the grid without various permissions is 4kW.
  15. How do you get the collector/bow tos sit right please Paul ?
  16. Not really - many people "watch" eBay items to see what they sell for.
  17. Unfortunatly, yes. Otherwise, they were not a bad car - if you overlooked the orangepeel paintwork & the delayed action free rust.
  18. I doubt it - almost certainly they will be scrap metal dealers that still deal in cash and have wafty paperwork. I've often wondered why these miniature railways use aluminium track - is it kinder on the locomotive wheels compared to steel ? I hope karma gets the scum in the end.
  19. Maybe Hornby could have supplied the decals (can't see that just the decals would add much to the costs) so they could have been fitted by the end user.*** I can certainly see that applying them at the factory would add a cost that many would not be happy with. *** After all, we are used to adding many other detailing parts to the exteriors of models.
  20. I'm aware of the difference between an "emergency/all stop" command & a "power off" command & also how the better decoders such as Lenz, ESU & Zimo deal with loss of DCC signal Nigel. My point was that if a locomotive is running away because it will not respond to the controller at all then large "stay alive" may continue to driver the locomotive.
  21. You could round up all the "sent back as cold" ones that my daughter sends back when frequenting a certain fast food chain.
  22. Stay alives have their uses (I use them on some Trix OHE's that only pick up on two axles) but just think - a locomotive can travel a fair distance in 5-10s so if a disaster is looming hitting the emergency stop button to cut the power will have the same effect as King Herod had on the tide.
  23. Good job it was not a set of KLA5's from the US then.
  24. Regarding protestors - well, I'm proud to be a part of a country that allows people to air their views. However, in the case of major projects like HS2 the time for protests has long gone. People can use their vote if they don't like whatever adminstation is in power. IMHO, when protesters cause major disruption (especially to others going about their lawful business who get inconvienianced by the ER rabble then there are a couple of soloutions ; 1) If they have money &/or assests - relieve them of said money &/or assests or 2) If they are on bebefit - put them on daily signing.
  25. Wise words and words I agree with. I'd take this a step further and try runnimg the layout on analogue, with an analogue loco (not a DCC fitted one running on analogue). Better still, choose one of the problem locomotives & remove the decoder. If there is no problem running on analogue then it could be some weird DCC issue.
