  1. Per Yeadon 469 was vacuum fitted July 1929 while allocated to Hawes. It was transferred to Richmond Dec. 1929. It returned to Hawes Dec. 1933 and moved to Tyne Dock in May 1935. Withdrawn Feb. 1937. Photo. probably taken between Dec. 29 and Dec. 33.
  2. To me, the cab lookouts look fine on all the earlier photos, it's only on the latest there appears to be a problem. As the same cab front has been used then I feel it's a combination of camera angle/perspective distortion and an illusion caused by a strip of solder(?) on the cab front/sides joint.
  3. The vacuum brake was fitted in May 1929 so this reduces the timescale a little.
  4. Bowes Bridge allocation at 1/1/1923 (first day of LNER) was U/N10 1138 & 1683 plus B/N8 349. Class L/J73 no 548 was there in 1895.
