  1. I can't say there was much that interested me in the latest announcements apart from the 144 in WY Metro livery however due to the ever worsening cost of living crisis, I can't say I can afford one. Sadly with rising costs, manufacturers have put their prices up so that they can keep making a profit and keep making models but it is driving those of us who can't afford new models out of the hobby. All being well, one day I will return to buying new but for now it has lead me to learn to paint models myself for cheapness. I know it's the same old ground but maybe one day the manufacturers will find a solution to bring the cost down to allow the common man to enjoy the hobby once more. Bachmann are a super manufacturer with high standards but I am also a tad scared I'd break their models these days. Either way, theirs my two pence with my freedom of speech power 😁 God bless
  2. Yep, all checked and correct. I'm still baffled.
  3. I'm utterly baffled. DHCP is enabled, port is set to 21105, and the address in the app is set the same as the PC which connects fine.
  4. Thanks for the advice WIMorrison. I shall plug the DR5000 into the PC over the next few days and see what I can do. And thanks for checking your app Melmerby hopefully I can rectify it when I plug the laptop in.
  5. So a quick update: If I disconnect my phone from the DR5000 WiFi network then the app works fine (albeit it doesn't move any trains) but when I reconnect it to the WiFi then it stops working properly. As for exporting the layout, I'm not sure how to do this. I know I can export the loco's details individually but can I do them en mass?
  6. Android. I'm tempted to uninstall and reinstall but I assume I'd lose all my data in doing so.
  7. Hey guys, I'm having some issues with the Z21 app. Usually when you increase the throttle, the coloured bar goes up in line with power. Same with when you press a function, it doesn't light up. I can also only run trains in one direction as the change direction button doesn't work. I'm running Z21 version 1.3.8 with a Digikeijs DR5000. Luke
  8. Absolutely brilliant. As I say, it all looks like superb craftsmanship so far
  9. That's a brilliant storage rack you have made. Is there any chance you can share the plans? I'd be interested in making something similar. I may also steal your idea for the back scene. I never thought about a back scene when I put my boards and it would be a tad difficult to put it in now as an after thought. It's looking great :D
  10. Do we have a date yet for the official closing? I'm thinking of making a trip next week.
  11. Morning all, I'm looking at modelling HST Barrier 6339 however I can only find the one photo on Departmentals.com https://www.departmentals.com/departmental/6339 I'd like to know if anyone has any more detailed photos of this showing where numbers are positioned and also what the text on the side says. Cheers Luke
  12. Some absolutely superb modelling here and I'll be following this thread so I can hopefully use some of your ideas on my own layout
  13. Fantastic information to read as I'm currently doing research for my own layout. This is another request for brand guidelines for any part of Northern Spirit/TPE or their successor Arriva Trains Northern. If no one has any brand guidelines, would anyone happen to know what fonts were used by these TOCs? I seem to have found that ATN used Arial Bold on the side of their loco hauled stock, was this consistent across all their stock?
  14. Cracking setup you have here. I was wondering if you would be willing to share the dimensions you've used for your JXA wagon? It seems like an interesting project. Luke
  15. Sorry to drag up an old thread but these are very impressive. Keep up the good work as it has given me plenty of ideas
  16. Having ummed and arred for a long time, I've sent off for the initial Komatsu excavator. Let's see how long it takes to come. Last time I used Atlas was for the initial Eddie Stonart fridge lorry. They sent me that along with a curtainsider and tried charging me £9.99 for both. I paid £2.99 as that was what they info said so I was quite happy at two lorries for £2.99. I'm not paying for their mistakes
  17. That looks like a good idea. Board up the shed door and dig a secret tunnel from the cupboard under the stairs into the middle of the shed
  18. When I worked with Network Rail at the S&T we were always told don't mix different types of insulation on wire including rubber due to the corrosion that may happen. Looking great so far Jim
  19. Evening All I thought it about time I started a blog showing what I get up to. It isn't very often I post on here however when I do, I usually find the information very useful. I will try and put up bits and pieces of my layouts and of my detailing and repaints when I remember but for now I will start with my new layout that is currently in the initial planning stages. --- I thought as I was planning on building a new (small) 4'x2'3" layout I would post all my goings on in the forum to get people's ideas etc etc. I do have another layout (Crossforth for those of you who don't know) which I don't very often speak of but as this is new I thought now was a good time to start and I am also helping build a P4 layout at my local model club. The size of the baseboard is coming from the P4 layout that I am helping building at the local model club and as a few boards are being constructed there, I thought I'd add one onto the order. The layout will be OO scale but will be set up ready to be possibly converted to P4 at a later date... We'll see. The layout will be based on a small, now, end of the line terminus with two platforms. At some point it will have been a through station but has since been converted to end of the line with trams continuing the route. The curved platform will be for trains entering from the left with the entrance concealed by a road over bridge (the red block). The straight platform will be for trams entering from the right. I'm not sure yet how to conceal the portal. Even though there is a connection between the mainline and tram line, I doubt it will often be used, just like the connections on the Metrolink at Victoria and Bury. Below is a copy of the plan for the layout. The blue through the middle is a small shallow stream to act as a focal point with the brown being bridges over the top. The yellow block in the sidings will be a small fuelling point for the locos and units that visit the station. The green bit is a footbridge leading from the platforms to the station car park (which is the black bit). The black bit, on the left hand side of the road bridge, is a car park for the fuel sidings. The station platforms (the grey bit) are only long enough to hold 142s, 144s and 153s. I will more than likely start off by running Northern stock with the possibility of also running EMT stock to compliment. The tram line will more than likely run Metrolink stock as that uses trams that have doors at standard platform height. I will have to brush up on my kit building skills to construct a few T68 trams to run. Before I decided to add a portal on the right hand side and run trams, the connection was going to be used and I'd planned on using mechanical signalling however now I'm not sure whether to use mechanical or colour light signals. One thought is to use colour lights on the Metrolink platform and use mechanical on the mainline. I think that covered everything.... I think. This is all currently all subject to change of course. I will keep you posted as this project develops. Luke
  20. Looks brilliant Jim. I'll certainly be pinching ideas for my own new layout (when I get round to dismantling the current one).
  21. I'm still at the very beginning stages of reprinting and detailing models (the crying when things go wrong stage) but this thread and your work has been a true inspiration as to how I can improve my own models and the little details that I need to look out for. Keep up the great work as it really is amazing. Luke
  22. That 375 looks great. May I ask what colour yellow you used for the doors? Luke
  23. This looks like it will be fantastic. I am watching with baited breath to see each stage progress.
