  1. I would like to record my thanks on here to Andy York for letting me include in the show the video of the interview he recorded with me when I exhibited Boston Frodsham at the Festival of British Railway Modelling at Doncaster last February. It may contain too many views of my ugly mug and Hull accent but it was still way better than any video that I could have produced!
  2. Many thanks Steve, glad you liked it.
  3. Hi there. I sent you a PM a few days ago. Just wondered if you'd seen it.

Given that the last time (s)he visited the site was 29.12.2019, I suspect that the answer is 'no'.

But thanks for sharing with us, all the same.

  4. Thanks John. As the signals I built for our previous layout were ER that's probably where I got the idea they were black. The ones I'm currently building for our new layout are a mix of ex Highland Railway and LMS so probably looks like I need to repaint them!
  5. I notice the back blinders on these signals are painted white. I always assumed they were black but some photos of prototype signals I've looked at recently also show white ones. Any idea whether white was always used or could they be either colour.
  6. I'll be there with Boston Frodsham. A couple of photos below to hopefully tempt you even more!
  7. So if manual handling regulations restrict a person to lifting a maximum of 25kg then you'll need five people just to carry the ballast when you're setting up the layout at a show!
  8. If it was loaded with concrete we'd ring the fire brigade to come and flush it out before it went hard!
  9. Cheers Steve. On behalf of Hessle MRG I'd like to offer our sincere thanks to all the exhibitors and traders who turned out to support us. Also to the people who visited the show, in numbers far greater than we had hoped, particularly given the weather conditions early in the day. The day was a great success which everyone appeared to enjoy immensly. Thank you all again.
  10. Cheers Steve. As he says it's tomorrow from 10.00 to 16.00. Don't miss it!
  11. 100% O gauge. 100% modern image. It doesn't get any better than that!
  12. Look forward to meeting you. Please ask as many questions as you like. You may even get the odd sensible answer!
  13. Also please note that as far as I am aware none of the layouts at the show will feature erupting volcanos, landslides or dinosaurs etc!
  14. In preparation for the exhibition we hired one of the large rooms at the town hall last Sunday so we could fully set up all three of the club layouts and give them a good test. To hopefully whet your appetities further here are some photos. Firstly Invermire Cayton Bay Cottingham Note all the layouts are still, works in progress
  15. No worries, just thought you may have saved me a job! Nice to see they will be included with the wagon though.
  16. Ha, beaten me to it! I was just about to show details of the conversion I've done. Having tried fitting the P4 wheelsets initially I was unsure whether they were binding on the backs of the W irons or on the brake gear. So after removing the wheels again I gently prised off the brake gear with a scalpel blade. Although glued in place, with a gentle bit of leverage it was possible to break the bond and remove the brakes without damage. Reinserting the wheels showed they now turned freely so no work was needed on the W irons. I reckoned the tops of the wheel treads were fouling on th
  17. Will the wagons be supplied with the screw couplings ready fitted?
  18. In addition to the three previously mentioned Hessle MRG layouts we are now pleased to confirm the following additional seven visiting ones. Filey, Bridlington Model Railway Society. OO gauge portrayal of the station between Bridlington & Scarborough in the 1950s/60s. Betton Street, Richard Hayden. OO gauge. Based on the loco servicing and Network Rail maintenance depot at Shrewsbury in 2000-2010. Fox Valley Railway, Jason Johnson. N gauge western region terminus station set in 1960s/70s. Hollym Gate, Brian Sunman. OO gauge based on the stati
  19. I notice Kernow's website is now saying delivery expected 3rd quarter of 2019. So looks like Andy Y's initial post saying delivery expected by end of the year was correct, apart from the year that is!
  20. Not a thing. I would have appreciated Kernow keeping those of us who had pre-ordered wagons a bit better informed of progress
  21. At the risk of upsetting the Anti-Puffer brigade on here (!) here's a photo of a model a friend has just completed. It's to be used on our club's O Gauge layout Invermire which is based somewhere in the north of Scotland in the 1970s/80s so hopefully we're not pushing the boat out too far!
  22. Hessle Model Railway Group are pleased to announce details of their forthcoming exhibition. Venue is Hessle Town Hall, South Lane, Hessle, East Yorkshire, HU13 0RR. Sunday 6th October. 10.00 to 16.00. Our club's 3 layouts will be on display, viz; Invermire, O Gauge 1970/80 Scottish diesels. Cayton Bay, OO gauge 1950/60 era (based on Bridlington). Cottingham, N Gauge 1950/60 era. In addition there will be a number of visiting layouts in a range of scales and eras plus trade support. I'll update details of these as and when we get things confirmed.
