Street Running in the USA or Canada
bingley hall replied to trisonic's topic in USA & Canadian Railroads
Here's a handful taken last year in Utica, NY, of the NYS&W operation there that switches local industries and makes its way along Schuyler St for a short part of its journey. The weather was a bit iffy and I was planning to have a lie in when I got a text message form the engineer telling me he was just signing on for the job. These pics are on the return run back to Utica and include GP40 3030 shunting the FX Matt Brewery, makers of Utica Club & Saranac Ale.- 850 replies

To keep things moving along, here are a few shots taken at the Stockwell Garage open day, back on 21 June 2014. Under the magnificent arched concrete roof at Stockwell garage in South London preserved Leyland double-decker RTL139 is taking a spell from giving short trips as part of the open day. A bit like the old days - a nice line up of Routemasters - RM1063, RM349, RML898. RTL139 heading down Lansdowne Way past the garage (out of sight to the right) while working a free tourist sightseeing circuit for punters. -

34070 'Manston' really looks the part as it pulls into Harmans Cross station with the 1400hrs Swanage to Norden service - 19 August 2015. More flowers.... -
On 12 September 1978 on the former Deli Railway in North Sumatra, 75-year old 0-4-4T no.27 was photographed at Tanjungbalai. Built by Hohenzollern in 1903, it is in steam having just brought in a freight off the 4km branch from the port area at Teluk Nibung.

I see a little silhouetto of a man...........QJ6850, with QJ7105 hidden by steam behind it, waits to depart Lindong, Inner Mogolia, with an eastbound freight to Chabuga - 21 February 2005.

Former Manchester - Sheffield line 1500v DC electric loco 26020 preserved at the National Railway Museum in York - December 1988.

For 20 years the Victorian C class were synonymous with freight operations on the Melbourne to Adelaide interstate corridor. Made redundant in 1997 they were placed in storage for several years before being picked up by a private operator, and most of the class of 10 were refurbished and upgraded. While there have been occasional appearances on their old stomping ground, most noticeably of un-refurbished C501, these appearances were sporadic and usually limited to single units. So n one of the most amazing motive power comebacks, after a twenty year absence from the corridor in any significant numbers four were lashed up last week to haul a train carrying feed grain from Tailem Bend in South Australia to drought affected areas of New South Wales - 30 October 2018.

Was out and about in Sydney over the last few days and travelled a little around the suburbs on Sydney Trains......... A trip on the Sydney Trains backwater which is the Clyde to Carlingford line sees an ageing S-set waiting to depart Clyde for Carlingford. The line is likely to be converted at some stage in the future to light rail and the last of the S-sets are in the process of replacement. Four-car S122 comes of the single line at Rosehill with a Carlingford working\ Two S-sets approach Clyde with a Leppington to Sydney working The classic V-sets still provide a number of longer distance interurban, or intercity, services such as V40 on a Sydney to Katoomba service passing Clyde A Sydney bound A-set passes Concord West

The few pictures I've seen suggest the weather was a bit disappointing yesterday. I was lucky to be able to attend the event three years ago on 11 October 2015, when the sun did attempt to make an appearance and some nice shots were to be had. -
Copped D401 at Lostock Hall in April 1968 along with about half a dozen kettles in steam.

RevolutioN Announces Crowdfunded N Gauge Class 128
bingley hall replied to MGR Hooper!'s topic in Revolution Trains
I saw them in all three liveries, although never photographed one in green. It's going to be hard not to buy more than one of these. M55990 in blue seen at Manchester Victoria on 8 September 1972 W55991 in Royal Mail red sitting at the buffer stops in Paddington on 13 March 1989. -
I don't suppose there's any likelihood of the BG in blue at some stage in the future?

In another place it was mentioned they are up to orders placed in January 2017. Mine were February and Septmber 2017 so hopefully will hear something in the next few weeks. As a general response - if people want all their emails replied in a timely manner, timely despatch of the product, and the company filing their returns on time (see other thread) then expect to pay double for future products. -
50 Years since the end of BR Steam!
bingley hall replied to Trev52A's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
I only found out the other day that the original was written by Canadian folk singer Bonnie Dobson and then later modified by Tim Rose. My favourite version is with Rod Stewart on vocals off the Jeff Beck 'Truth' album. I did see Tim Rose perform it live in 1975 at, most appropriately, the Camden Roundhouse. BTW Hattons have put a page up on the 50th anniversary - they should have consulted with a few of the posters on this thread as they have totally stuffed up the events for 4 August.
