  1. Oh dear. I was hoping not to have to buy anymore 47s, but that RDS version is a ripper.
  2. But unfortunately that is not what is happening on here. We have a bunch of internet keyboard warriors trying to big note themselves, intent on making sweeping generalisations that ultimately do not to stand up under scrutiny. A tragic waste of bandwith.
  3. Gare du Nord - November 1988 As per the double up above - next something from the US
  4. Finger Lakes Railway ( a pair of GE B23-7s) crossing Cayuga Lake, New York state on 8 October 2017 (definitely best viewed full screen) Next a train alongside a river (but not a canal)
  5. Broad gauge V/Line loco N473 and another unidentified member of the class are in control of the Adelaide bound 'Overland' overnight passenger service from Melbourne at 0700hrs on 10 April 1993 - the rolling stock is a mix of sleeping and sit up cars. The train has just descended Warlah bank (the track can faintly be seen curving away to the right in the background) and is approaching the sleepy hamlet of Callington. Today 'The Overland' is a pale shadow of its former self, now day train rarely loading to more than 5 or 6 carriages, and operating only twice weekly; its future constantly under threat. Next - keep the sleeping car trains coming
  6. ALCo powered Montreal Locomotive Works built M636s still at work in the US. Former Cartier Mining unit now with Western New York & Pennsylvania at Driftwood, PA on 10 October 2017 Ex Canadian Pacific 4743 now with Delaware Lackawanna at Scranton, PA on 22 October 2017
  7. Going nowhere is Steamtown Scranton's 'stuffed and mounted' 4-8-8-4 'Big Boy' sitting outside the railway museum on the morning of the 22 October 2017. Still impressive despite it's poor external condition, the presence of asbestos means that no work can be undertaken on it (even painting) until decontaminated.
  8. Heading east along I84 to Boston for my flight home after three weeks in the US I made a brief detour into Port Jervis, NY to see if there were any Metro North services stabled there - drew a blank, but was unexpectedly rewarded with ex-Erie E8 #833 stored there on 24 October 2017. Has not been operational for 2-3 years and the prospects of it being reactivated are slim. Last shot of the trip and haven't had the camera out since.
  9. Cab detail of ex Canadian National 4-6-4T at Steamtown, Scranton, PA on 23 October 2017
  10. A Steamtown excursion heading from Scranton to Delaware Water Gap on 15 October 2017, behind preserved F3 #663 and RS3 #1554, seen at Gouldsboro, PA. Ex Central of New Jersey #1554 also sees regular shortline freight work with the Delaware Lackawanna out of Scranton.
  11. Hopefully the source I used for this caption was correct.....Two 3-car Class 503 ‘Wirral & Mersey’ electric multiple units have just arrived at Rock Ferry with a service from Liverpool Central in November 1983 The 650V DC third rail units were built in two batches in 1938 and in 1956 built by Metro Cammell and Birmingham RC&W. Driving Motor Brake Second M28378M was from the 1956 batch. 1957 beckons
  12. In October 1988, Western Railway metre gauge YP 4-6-2 no.2196 makes a smokey departure from Udaipur City with a westbound passenger train. YP2196 was 34 years old at the time of this photograph, being one of a batch of 150 constructed by German manufacturer Krauss Maffei in 1954. .......and on to 1955
  13. Excellent - some rare stuff there.
  14. The driver of 26039 has just received the token for the next section as he draws into Achnasheen with the 1055hrs Kyle of Lochalsh to Inverness service. 26024 and its train, the 1032hrs Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh,on which we were travelling, waits to proceed. Next - something with at least two more Sulzer powered units in it.
  15. When it's 'the same whiners and whingers complaining from behind their computer screens saying the same thing time and time again, just because they have nothing better to do, then how about we all agree it adds absolutely nothing to the discussion
  16. Unfortunately I think it's going to be a long wait.........ex-Canadian National 4-6-4T no.47 at Steamtown, Scranton on 23 October 2017 Next would be a station awaiting/ or undergoing restoration.
  17. As mentioned above https://www.flickr.com/photos/david_christie/23898334388/in/dateposted/
  18. Seems pretty black and white to me........Portland PA 19 October 2017
  19. I've been doing a bit of travelling lately...........they don't come much redder than this Vermont Railway 432 heads 263 Rutland to Bellows Falls freight through Smithville VT, on 3 October 2017. SD70M-2 432 was delivered in 2006 to Florida East Coast, then moved on to First Union Rail Leasing before finding its new home on the VTR
  20. 'London' could mean a whole lot of different things I would have thought within the boundaries of Greater London would be OK, but I'll play it safe and keep it closer to the centre. I do have some pics taken at East London in South Africa, but unfortunately not on the hard drive. Class 45 'Peak' 45121 waits to depart St Pancras with a Midland line express in April 1983, while a Class 317 'BedPan' EMU lurks in the background. On 6 March 2013, car 5534 leads a six car C69 set into Farringdon while working a westbound Hammersmith & City Line service.
  21. East Kent Railway - August 2015 East Camberwell (Melbourne) - November 2015
  22. Not sure of the exact routing, but yes it was during the Project Rio period.
  23. A pretty grim scene at Hellifield back in August 1983. What looks like a Morecambe to Leeds DMU pauses for non existent bsuienss while a Class 40 bustles away in the background. You can just make out the initials MR in the ironwork. The station has been spruced up considerably with a now operating Buffet - however the sidings being shunted are these days seriously overgrown. Midland Mainline IC125 power car 43086 at the rear of a recently arrived St Pancras to Manchester Piccadilly service - July 2004
