  1. Not the best angle because I was in the public car park, but I managed to get these pics. i had no idea that she was on the line - I was visiting footplate models and heard a steam whistle as I was going into the mainline station. So a fortunate meeting really

    EBay madness

On the flip side, (from the seller point of view) I’ve just been accused of ‘scalping’ by a supposed model rail enthusiast becuase I’m daring to sell more than one of the same thing that I bought with my own money. Disgraceful behaviour, I am appropriately chastened. the fact that all of my items start at 99p and have no reserve appears to have escaped this person’s shimmering intellect.

    EBay madness

Just so that I can make sure I got it right, this is the fact that it’s supposed to be an LMS plaque from 1865 right? :)
  4. I’m making full use of my 70% off this weekend to slim down on a few impulse purchases. I’ve been quite busy with eBay these first few months of the year, but I think it will quieten down after this lot - I’ve got nothing else to sell :)
  5. Well, out of one NEC show we now have two NEC shows, a new Warley exhibition and a second statfold model rail event. safe to say that I wasn’t expecting that
  6. Hi there folks - clue is in the title - does anyone have one going at a reasonable price? model identity or body condition not an issue. I actually only need the chassis, so if anyone has one with a knackered body then I’ll happily take that too. Thanks in advance c
  7. Nuln oil is good, but Seraphim sepia or agrax Earthshade are probably best for what you want it for. They will tone down the strength of the light while adding a slight yellow/brown tinge. Lots of light layers will work best - don’t try and do it in one or two thick layers
  8. I have found that a wash of a few layers of translucent paint (I use Games Workshop shade paints) does help to dim down LEDs, but that it is very easy to overdo it and make it almost invisible to see that there is a light at all. For my part as I have the preserved number 93, I have assumed/imagined/interpreted that modern regulations require the fitting of high intensity lights, which have in this case been cleverly disguised as GWR oil lamps :)
  9. B9CF95EE-969E-4AF4-B070-DCEE1B4DEBED2024-01-19_19-52-48_000.mp4 It went well, there is a limited functionality (for instance, the internal lights don’t work) but that’s not a dealbreaker for me. Basically, I have sound, motion and directional lighting. There is a vague chance that there might be a bit more for the 69, but it would depend upon the specific functions of the model and how it was all wired.
  10. It’s a neat idea and I’d be interested in them, but currently the only way to get them is to shell out £350 or so for a diesel that I don’t want :) so that stymies things a bit :)
  11. My ‘Bluebell’ has now been added, so they seem to be speeding through them
  12. @Accurascale Fran - a little bit confused. I have an existing account with accurascale - do I need to do anything to tie my pre-order in to my account? Do I just wait for Hattons to contact me? Or should I place a new preorder on your website?
  13. The Andrew Barclay is moving to Accurascale - Hattons should send over the data to them, but if you haven’t heard about your pre order in 2 weeks, chase up with them
  14. The P class is moving to Accurascale - Hattons should send over the data to them, but if you haven’t heard about your pre order in 2 weeks, chase up with them
  15. So, with my paranoia about the parcel getting filched and my natural inability to resist anything but temptation, I happily present to you the contents of mystery box number 2, which I returned home to in my lunch break :) : -L&MR ‘Lion’ in 1980s guise -BR Dynamometer car in 1949 livery -‘Rapido’ livery Iron Mink (am I the only person with two of these now?) -Six wheeled SR Brake van -Yellow Toad Van -2x 8 plank wagons - one grey, one brown -APT-E book, calendar, beer mats, pin badge and pens as before another fine haul where the monetary value vastly outstrips the £250 cost, and even the £400 guaranteed value. Am once again very happy @RapidoCorbs - one point - I’m assuming that the dynamometer car would have been one of the overhauled ones and isn’t subject to the lighting circuit recall?
  16. Apprently my second £250 box is waiting for me in my bin at home. And nobody is answering the phone at my house. So to anyone out there who knows my address, there’s a chance to grab a big freebie before I get there lol 😂
  17. It’s the full half hour. Aaaaand I maaay have just ordered another one too :) I like the Rapido liveried mink vans, what can I say? :)
  18. Can I buy another one to check? 😂
  19. From my understanding, the £250 box comes with a guarantee of £400 value and the Rapido liveried iron mink. Besides that, I think the contents are unknown for each box
  20. Well, it arrived - and I am rather happy with the contents - GER Liveried W&U tramway train pack - Ltd edition ‘iron mink’ wagon - ‘Toad’ brake van - ‘loriot’ flat wagon - 2x SR Eight plank wagons (different numbers - LMS diagram 1666 wagon Also got beer mats, pens and a pinbadge, an APT-E book and a 2024 calendar. @RapidoCorbs - am I allowed to buy another one? :)
  21. Just had a notification from the Royal Mail that my mystery box has been delivered. Mus have been dispatched immediately after I ordered it - I shall have a good rummage tonight
  22. Quick question @RapidoCorbs - any idea when we might be seeing these? I’ll admit that my curiosity is getting the better of me 😂
