Hornby do the Q1 in RTR format and I can personally vouch for the looks of the model compared to the prototype. Looks like a fairly comprehensive list to me, the only thing i would add would be a Q1. C1 was stationed on the railway for many years and is a nice distinctive engine

Hi there, your plan most certainly offers a good feeling of Kingscote, but I would remove the Railwayman's cottage from the plan myself - in real life the area is taken up by Gardens, a road and sidings filled with 'to be restored' wagons (cars), whose tracks don't actually appear to be connected to the main railway at all. If you are modelling the railway as preserved then you have a thematic excuse to run pretty much anything you like on it as most Steam Engines of importance have visited the Blubell at one point or another - Flying Scotsman, C1, Deltics, Class 66s, City of Truro as well as their resident fleet of engines, which have all now been produced in RTR format. Both PECO and ROCO do operating tipper wagons straight out of the box which operate very effctively and int he case of the former look wonderful and full of character when weathered 2. I'm willing to be corrcted on this, but I believe that they are electrofrog 3.In this case, it depends on the kit. L&B wagons are extremely easy to get together and get looking good, but some of the coaches are a tad complex. I'd stick to the freight wagons at least initially until some familiarity has been gained hope this helps, and dont forget that Bachmann USA also does Skarloey

In answer to this query, which i think has been lost a tad, CAD designs can be resolved reasonably quickly without having to worry too much about production costs. yes, there is a cost attached to them of course, but it pales in comparison to tooling and production. Once something is being tooled, it needs to be crafted, tested, retested, checked, rechecked, changed, painted for livery samples which themselves need to be checked and corrected. from what I understand from public sources (i.e. no insider knowledge), its no so much the production process for the 'O' models which is slow, but that the process needs to be completed for everything before them in the queue to bring in the revenue to pay for it all. We should all give Dave a bit of leeway here, he's only had chance to deliver a single model with his own name on it so far (commissions don't count in this respect, as the profitability of retailer commissions isn't exactly record breaking, and crowdfunding by its very nature doesn't really bring in a decent profit margin until the second manufacturing run)so the revenue is still in the early stages. But with the 17 coming in the near future, mermaid, shark, etc coming on stream then hopefully this will offer him the chance to move things along

I do find vague amusement in the idea that this is a poor or a disappointing model when public knowledge of its existence is scarcely 48 hours old and nobody has actually seen one in real life. I agree, the model isn't sheer perfection but point me to the OO scale model that hasn't had to be compromised in some way.

If that happens, expect Alonso to stay put for one or two more years. Regrettably, i can't see Kubica returning. I really don't get people who complain about such things. Move next to a church and you will hear bells, move next to a railway and you'll hear trains, move next to a busy road and you'll hear cars. it's not like these things can readily be hidden

I requested access to materials at the NRm and they could not have been more helpful. They naturally watched my every move to ensure that I didn't damage important/ irreplaceable books, but otherwise left me alone. They also have an extensive reference library available covering a large variety of subjects - this doesn't need 'pre-booking' and can just be picked up off the shelf. Anything along the lines of drawings/microfilms/documents will need to be requested. Regrettably when i was there, there was a bit of a kerfuffle with another member of the public who thought he should be allowed to trace a nearly 100 year old drawing and was kicking up a stink when he was told no. Please bear in mind that the NRM is charged with the protection and preservation of these documents and that they are quite rightly the ones that set the rules

Not strictly on national rail, but aren't the first two stops on the Docklands light railway about five meters apart? The trains end one platform, cross a canal and then the next platform starts and its quite possible for people standing on two different train stations to have a conversation without shouting

I'm not usually affected by motivation ups and downs in my railway modelling, as I tend to buy RTR stuff rather than do it myself and I dont have a layout to work on at the moment. However, painting and constructing my Warhammer models do fluctuate quite drastically depending upon my mood. I had a lot of bad news earlier this week (didn't get a job I was going for and it turns out I'm not the father of my girlfriend's kid) and I needed a mellow day like never before. In that one day I did more than I have done in the past year and a half, and up to a damn good standard as well. Motivation is a funny thing, but it was nice to have to do nothing that mattered for a change
