I'm not the worlds biggest Hamilton advocate, but I can't see that he did anything wrong. Vettel was at the very least foolish to do what he did, and could well have thrown his championship lead out of the window for a moment of red mist. However, he's got three penalty points on his licence and served a penalty. Thats the end of it, and rightly so. Hamilton's comments that he got off scot free are a little difficult to understand. Vettel didnt mess up Hamilton's head rest and Hamilton would have won handily without that issue - so the penalty as given would have created enough of a disadvantage for Vettel to overturn his championship lead and ruin his chances of getting a podium. So how has vettel got off scot free exactly?
  3. I'll buy them in N gauge, but I do rather like the idea of an O gauge one as well. The price would be rather high for Dave to make though, and I wouldn't be surprised if Heljan announce a 17 to compliment their recent O gauge range before Dave has the opportunity
  4. Even with the price increase from Heljan my 'Yeo' in SR on pre order has reached £178. And that already seems to be the going rate for the few people that have the first batch left
  5. Well to buck the trend, my Exe arrived today from the Bure Valley and has been running faultlessly through Kato Unitrack (got no layout at the moment) including points for several hours. Couldnt be happier with it
  6. It was prototypical the real ones caught fire and so did Heljan's
  7. Well, in my normal habit of swimming against thetide, I've not only kept my pre-order for the SR liveried 'Exe', but placed two preorders for 'Taw' and 'Yeo' in SR green . Judging by what is on here, I'll need to test the locos carefully though
  8. in my opinion, if 51% of the engine/plane/etc. (how I can measure this has not yet been thrashed out ) is constructed from scratch then it is a new build. It may incorporate elements of original machines but it has been newly constructed. Although, it may also be valid to classify a steam loco as a rebuild if the frames are not newly constructed as these are traditionally the basis for the engine's identity, and in practice whatever parts fitted were bolted on
  9. I've written a few constitutions for a couple of charities and the one thing I can say is that it needs to be both simple and clear. Think everything through very carefully and then get two or three other people to do the same thing. Questions that the constitution would need to answer and leap to mind for me are: - Will there be elected positions within the club? (e.g. chairman, treasurer) - Will there be officers of the club (exhibition manager, fundraising manager, archivist etc.) - What will the duties of all of the above be? How often would they need to be re-elected/appointed? - What will membership of the club entail? (i.e. what do members get?) - Who ultimately has ownership of the layouts? (I understand that often club layouts are owned by the organisation but that any layouts entirely financed privately are the property of their builders) It's best to keep these simple and unambiguous, one or maybe two sentences to avoid anyone in the future creatively interpreting them
  10. Someone has just bought one from me! Graham Farish LMR set for £61.00! Was most disgruntled to have to depart with it for that price. Still good on him he's got a good buy there
  11. I'd buy 'Lyn' (don't forget that there are TWO British variants that can be done, L&B Original and Southern 762) which may make it a tad more viable. I'm also hoping that 'Lew/Lyd' will hit the shelves at some point - I have an ambition to get the whole L&B fleet in SR livery Not sure about the VoR lcoos, I'd have thought a FR Fairlie could well be the next step, but that is my own reckoning and is based on nothing more than what I want.
  12. It'd be more unusual if they ended up somewhere else...

Indeed, but he came a creditable 4th and Ed Jones flew the Union Jack on the podium, so British drivers acquitted themselves very well

For those interested in the Alonso/Indy situation, he was thoroughly competitive and was in the lead group when his Honda engine let go about 22 laps from the end. He received a standing ovation from the entire Indy crowd and I rather suspect that he will be driving for Andretti there next year
  16. In terms of filming, there is rarely anything worth catching from the window of a train in my opinion. Your eyes catch the scenery better than a camera from a moving train, and curves are rarely sharp enough to catch sight of the loco hauling you along. That being said, I still try I never put my head out of any window on the Main Line - very close equipment and clearances combined with higher speeds give you less chance to get out of the way even if you do see something coming. I limit it to preserved railways where the speed seldom exceeds 25mph and gives me plenty of chance to get my head back inside if I see a tunnel or a bridge coming up
  17. The cause of this man's hatred remains illusive to me. This I am very grateful for, as I'm not sure that I would care to understand the mind of someone who thought it was a good thing to kill (among many others) an eight year old girl. It utterly escapes me.
  18. I voted Tory in the West Midlands mayor election yesterday simply because when the panel of candidates met up and did their live TV debate, he and the communist were the only ones who actually answered the questions put to them, rather than giving sound bites. My judgement was that this was as good as it was going to get quality wise and so those were the two candidates that got my first and second vote. I think I may very well be one of the very few people in history to vote both Tory and communist in the same election . As for the wider political view Corbyn is totally unelectable in my humble opinion. He doesn't even lie effectively for PR purposes, so what chance does that give us in the political sphere? Plus I dont really find it comforting that the Shadow Home Secretary can't seem to add up, or indeed, read numbers from a piece of paper...
  19. Would have been worse in Meridan with me - we're voting for a Mayor so youve got to have both a first and second choice...

    PC help please

How long does the computer freeze for after you right click? I had a similar issue and it turned out to be because I was clicking on a large file and the system needed to catch up

In rather sad news, F4 competitor Billy Monger lost both of his legs following his crash at Donington on Sunday. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/129067/monger-loses-lower-legs-after-f4-crash
  22. Why? I really don't get this - the guy in question actually BOUGHT the boards at the price that they were being sold at. they became either his property or the property of the shop he was representing. So why is he not entitled to sell the boards for whatever he wanted to? Furthermore why should he be penalised in the future for daring to contravene a standard that he didn't agree to (charitable donation to organisers for the boards)? From the sounds of it, a lot of customers got nomex boards (obviously they were willing to pay even the triple cost) Mr Griffith managed to sell all of his stock of the boards thus generating the exact amount of financial help for the organisers that he was hoping for. Frankly, once the boards were sold, nobody has a right to comment on what happened to them after that - its none of their business. And calling somebody a shyster because they dared to sell something at a profit is rather beyond the pale in my opinion.

Force India are independent of Mallya. They will survive without him, albeit with a different name. McLaren had another abysmal showing today in the test, 2 laps before the upgraded engine gave out. Sounds like they could use a little L&B 'perchance it is not dead, but sleepeth' spirit
  24. A great little shop - a daytrip to Warhammer World with half an hour in Gee Dees and lunch with my beautiful Nottingham based gf makes for a damn good day. Hope it stays, I don't like change
