Anything between 4" and 100" of snow forecast for our region over the next week depending on elevation.
Prepare for traffic problems they said. (Interstate 5 was a bumper-to-bumper nightmare in this afternoon's deluge) So looks like we're just gonna have to "Hunker down" for Christmas.

I need help people. I'm new to modelling but i've read lots, been to plenty of shows, and always been good at scenery... but i'm struggling with DCC electrics. I've acquired a 1.3m end to end TDM layout that needed upgrading and i'm extending it to 2.5m length with a new section (shown in the photos). It's 00 gauge Peco code 100 track with electro-frog points. I've acquired a NCE Powercab but will control the points off switches (more fun). I've laid and wired the track to a new DCC bus (thicker cable). Before i connect up the points wiring i want to check the track runs ok so i connected it up to the Powercab. However it's shorting out. Is this because i've not connected up with electro-frog cables (which are hanging loose underneath) or at this stage are they irrelevant? I've checked the layout, vacuumed it thoroughly and cannot see what the issue is. I've used track insulators as Peco advise on all points. I've attached pictures of the layout. The right hand rail (as you look at the photo) is always 'positive', the left always 'negative'. I've also shown a close-up of the Y-point so you can see how i wired the frog wire (this is where Peco advised me to). I'm concerned i may have made a fundamental error somewhere..... If what i've done looks and sounds ok then how do i find the cause of the short? Any help really appreciated.

Is about to sail from Karsto, near Stavanger, bound for Antwerp. There's a 4 to 5 metre high swell waiting outside. Everything is securely lashed down - I hope...

A lovestruck Romeo sings the streets a serenade, Laying everybody low with a love song that he made, Finds a convenient streetlight steps out of the shade. Says something like you and me babe how about it?

Wife is a Blue Badge Holder. At lunchtime we found disabled parking slot occupied by Nissan Navaro (Pick up truck as big as a 9F) but not displaying any blue badge. Probably because driver does not have ability to park such a big thing in a normal space! Such selfish actions make me mad!

Nothing some superglue and signs "you want my parking, how about my disability too" plastered on the front windscreen won't fix. (recommended only for punters you see doing the "run in" routine, because otherwise,I have a rather funny story about 2 rather doddery very senior gentlemen & handicapped spaces- one had a pass, one didn't, guess which car they were in?)

This year my son wanted a big Lego train set. (Last year he had a similar set for Xmas.) So now he will have a ton of track, two loco's and (most importantly) two controllers. Now I can teach him the principles of absolute block working!
