  1. That’s it ….I’m an X …my kids are Z….im guessing any grandkids are to be B ;) My kids sometimes call me boomer just to wind me up. Even they know I’m not that old
  2. Bit of speed tape and the engineers will sign it off .. Guinness world record “ biggest thread creep “
  3. Saw a video with Pete waterman , I think he was right in the concept that kids today want to see todays railways as much as we all did in our day . I imagine in 30 years time all the Gen z who liked trains will be nostalgic for the covid era and building layouts with the units of today utilising their newly found extra disposable income . And so the cycle will continue . As long as their are trains , there will be train fans and by extension modellers
  4. Hi, I have just brought my first Bachmann modern unit as below and I’m rather enamoured with it . I was wondering if anyone knows the colours for the seats and floor as I’d like to paint them . Unit dates from between 1999 and 2005 I believe , Thanks in advance ,
  5. Even with underscale wheels it doesn’t have the same issue as the Hornby one , in so much as it looked like it was on tip toes to me. the gap bogie to body looks much better
  6. A valid point . I remember the day my two crumbled
  7. I don’t think they’ve done anything to update it other than remove the working fan over time

Does the smoke look anything bordering on realistic ? Ones I’ve seen demonstrate smoke isn’t scaleable
  9. As a system it could almost work . Cavalex have orange boxes . Revolution have black boxes I think…. Probably recording your data and transmitting to the wife/ significant other … :)
  10. Sorry , no offence intended , it’s just a convenient shorthand to differentiate with blue box and red box . Can we call you green box ? Even though it isn’t ..;)
  11. They’ve managed to make a robin reliant even less cool, by linking it to trains , That wins my achievement award for today ;)
  12. Well , it’s hardly up there with splitting the atom.. everyone’s entitled to their view , and he was just pointing it out . I’m sure the faith I have in the Emerald Isle team , means it’ll be sorted .
  13. Great work as always ! looks like a massive heap of dung so you've got it spot on !
  14. Really brings out the exceptional depth and detail on those bogies … still dithering about getting one …it’s not core fleet but does look great …
  15. Got a few aerials there ! Guessing it’s DAB enabled ;)
  16. How many people in japan ? And I wonder how many active modellers ?
  17. I’d never get anything done, unless I put a padlock on the goodies !
  18. I’ve been rereading a ton of old Rail mags , apparantly the availability of the 60 was about 85% and the 66 was 95% - you can guess what the EWS yanks preferred
  19. I used to hide copies of railway modeller inside copies of razzle or fiesta …less embarrassing that way round …
  20. Yes, he has weaponised his grid !
  21. I’ve never met an actual rivet counter ( must be a steam thing ), but I do ask the basic shape resembles what the prototype is and not a potato - that’s the basis of a model , something that looks like a full size one , but in miniature
  22. I like Ben Jones , he comes across well. I still think the shape of the Bachmann one is better. It seems to be a bit tall this one , for some reason it reminds me more of this .
  23. *No pussy was damaged in the production of the class 56 *
  24. That’s not quite right , the first one was 2001-2003 A res version. I know this cos I brought one and I was only in that house 2001- sept 2003
