  1. And yet several ex KX drivers I know described him as reckless, and should have been taken off the job years before. As for fanciful tales, the best has to be City of Truro hitting a 100mph.....
  2. Bedford St Johns is traffic to the Hospital* and one of the Bedford Girls schools, Bedford Midland would be the destination of the rest of the schoolchildren. The last figures I knew of there were 8/9 private schools in Bedford with a 8000 children attending, with the schools discouraging being dropped by car a high % attend by train/bus. *It's cheaper to go from Either Stewartby or Kempston Hardwicke to BSJ rather than pay for the hospital car park.
  3. It's some time since I travelled the line, but as well as passengers heading each way it has a high usage of children going to school in Bedford to the Harper trust schools. I was unable to get a seat on many occasions as the services were well patronised.
  4. I'll pass that comment back. I do know that it was a very busy day for the club not helped by a number of far flung members not able to help (myself included) and with it being a couple of years since the last show, we had to think really carefully about just how much food was purchased in case it should be unsold.
  5. I have. I build on average 4-5 locomotives a year and used Markits wheels and fittings. But after to many orders not being fulfilled properly and having to send product back (at my cost) I gave up. He's a nice enough chap to speak to on the phone, but receiving the wrong goods time and again just isn't good enough. I last ordered from Markits 2-3 years ago and looking at my notes I spent just over £500 in 12 months on 4 orders, not a small sum for any trader. I now use Colin at Alan Gibson and am very happy with the product.
  6. I'm unashamedly bumping this exhibition for those who are looking for a good day out, with some quality modelling.
  7. We used the same barriers but have now decided not to use them anymore. The last load I picked up (on my own) was 1.2T and had to be picked from the stillages and loaded onto an open truck. IIRC The advice now is that only those clubs that use a tail lift can hire them and the last time I was there the average weight of a stillage was .7T. That might not sound much but the car park outside the lock up wasn't flat and a tail lift doesn't sit flat on the ground so it must be fun trying to get a stillage on the lift. I think the storage area has now moved but the weight is still an issue. For our show (this weekend) those exhibiting have been advised that there will not be barriers and I understand it isn't an issue. We need some 20+ Volunteers to run the show and with volunteer numbers tight, the barriers have been dropped.
  8. Are you confusing the sets which were used by GNER on Leeds services? There was a lot of testing and planning required before they could run on the ECML as IIRC the power consumption meant that 2 could not be under power in the same section. (I stand to be corrected)
  9. That is most likely the Glazed awning/roof from Potton & Sandy Stations which was produced as a 3 bay. I have one of the kits tucked away somewhere, but produced my own etches as there were actually 5 bays on the prototype.
  10. The 2 pics I loaded were on eBay, if you click on them to expand them, then click on them again they should open in another tab/window. You can then save them to your PC. If it doesn't work I'll send them.
  11. The roundel is a tail lamp. The livery is Maroon.
  12. You've probably already seen the Cornwall railway Society site but worth a look if not http://www.cornwallrailwaysociety.org.uk/falmouth-branch.html My brother has a Penryn- Falmouth Token (pic on the site) These might not be of much help but you never know. I have a file somewhere on the hard drives with some other pics but b*ggered if I can find them. I'll keep digging, I'll also ask my brother if he has anything.
  13. If you're modelling Penryn, is it before Collegewood viaduct rebuild and the realigning ? Muvva was from Penryn and I still have cousins there. I have some pics but not a lot. The station was a shell of it's former self when I first remember visiting in the mid 60's (aged 4-5 in shorts)
  14. Unfortunately the Stonemason is working weekends and requires a labourer so I've had to give my apologies. A bit miffed about not being able to attend and catch up with everyone but unavoidable. It does mean that there won't be any bad jokes on the door this year 😀

  16. If a grey squirrel is caught in the UK it cannot be released and has to be destroyed.
  17. I had to go back and look again 😄 The track work looks very good quality Jol. Your eyesight must be improving. 👍
  18. I draw the frames and have them etched so can't answer that question.
  19. Call the supplier and speak to them. If you ordered before Xmas what was the delivery timescale?
  20. Weird, I've just got the same choosing Delivery Black, but at lunchtime on the phone it came out at £205 and I had UK as the delivery destination.
  21. Beware, the KR site does not include VAT. A DCC ready in delivery black is £205 paid up front.
  22. B is the better option. I would add some blocks to the corners. Option A allows the ends to ‘twist’ between the side supports.
  23. Thanks to Dave's generous help, I currently have a 4mm GN Baldwin I'm test building on the bench.
  24. One of these will open up a 16mm hole. https://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-d25899k-gb-9-9kg-sds-max-electric-breaker-240v/51963 For a bit of making good after. https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonsense-interior-ready-mixed-filler-white-off-white-1kg/555gt
