  1. Without taking this thread down the same road I'd like to make a comment about the 2 people who posted, as already posters are presuming them to be villains without seeing the thread. The comments they made were not derogatory but noted that they are not really kits but poor etches, and that timescales for ordering were too long. These were reasoned comments and a trader should be able to take note of this as customer feedback. They were then subjected to some very nasty and personal comments which have no place on any forum. Then based upon 2 people posting negative comments a part owner of the range then said they would take the whole range down (which is a very strange business decision). I thought that the behaviour of some of those posting was tantamount to bullying and was unacceptable, and quite frankly the thread belonged in the ether never to be seen again. There are only a couple of items in the range that interest me but I would think twice about purchasing them. I did note that although Retro-man posted a pic of his etches which met with positive comments, I also noted that at £70+ he has started another thread asking for instructions. Bearing in mind that you can purchase a kit such as a J6 from London Rd models for just over £100 with full and comprehensive instructions they are to my mind a little overpriced (and yes I do know what the costs of etching are) so the comments that sparked the vitriol that led to the threads deletion were not unwarranted.
  2. And within a short time this thread is heading the same way as the other one. I did see and read the other thread and was rather disgusted. I am also not surprised it was deleted/hidden considering the content.
  3. I'm working on it ......be careful about holding your breath though..
  4. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/122538-why-were-the-metro-vik-class-28s-concentrated-upon-barrow/ Posts 12 & 19 for a start.
  5. I'm not quite sure what all the fuss is about, the website is still live http://www.falconbrassworks.com And it has the same contact details as Dart Castings.
  6. Leave it with me and I'll try and scan them this week. I'll PM when they're done. Coming from Sandy, Shannon (Jane) has an appeal to me as well so I'm interested to revisit the articles.
  7. Does it count that our 3 chickens are wandering around the garden ? Edit to add that a few weeks a go we found them hiding, it seems a Sparrowhawk had landed in their run with a pigeon and proceeded to strip it, they probably thought they were next.
  8. This has come up a few times John, you have to be careful if it's an open frame motor as the sparks from the brushes could make the spray 'flash over'. Might help if you're going for the 'burnt smoke box' look.
  9. Do you think if I send my stuff over they'd line it for me ? And believe it or not, I have photographic evidence of JCL buying a pint. . .
  10. I should have looked at RMweb before speaking to him just now. I bet he'll be after a copy if he's not already got it.
  11. Either my home station of Sandy in the 60's/70's. Or Kings Cross with 8 Deltics on the stops.......ticking over...then full throttle.
  12. Not quite, you ought to be with an American buying Cuban cigars on a trip to the Dominian Republic, I've never seen anyone so terrified of being caught buying something. A couple of days later he told me he couldn't be seen with them so threw them in the bin, not just one bin but several located about the ship so he could avoid being traced ! He said if it got back to where he lived that he'd given the Cubans US dollars his neighbours wouldn't speak to him and his company would likely take his pension away. I've no idea whether they would or not, but it says something that a citizen of the supposed "biggest free country in the world" would feel and act this way. As for Ikea stuff, having put a lot together for people......it's crap.
  13. In the 70's the stabling was opposite on the other side of the main line, there was a small shed and a couple of sidings, the area was where the sidings & buffers for the 12 cars are now. Goldington's ok, but would you want her living in Queens Park. . . .
  14. It is a wonder that the site hasn't been cleared and used for housing, but then again it's not in one of the nicer areas of Bedford (not that there are many to choose from)
  15. Just about. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.1336555,-0.4792268,427a,35y,203.69h/data=!3m1!1e3

  17. You would ideally need to brace it at 300mmm intervals to stop sag. As a rough constructional board it is ideal but for our purposes there are too many negatives. I work with the material most days and I'm a fan of it, but as a baseboard it really isn't suitable.
  18. The foam board is not a material I've not used or seen here, but in answer to your question is OSB better than ply. . . . .No...... Definitely not. We use it for structural bracing and shuttering, it has too much movement and no strength.
  19. I'm still here......and not going away....
  20. I might have these but it'll take time to find them. I do wish she was called by her 'proper' name though. She's 'Shannon' from the Sandy & Potton Tramway (1850)
  21. I don't know about other locations but IIRC at Sandy on the GN 1911 plan, there are 7 Double slips as well as 2 (?) single slips, they are not confined to the yards either. It was an unusually busy location on the GN main line.
