  1. It really isn't as simple as that, they are purchasing product in China with a long lead time between R&D and production then transit to the UK, it is in US dollars so there is currency fluctuation. then the Chinese increase their labout rates by 20% which is more than anyone would reasonably expect. I have trouble pricing jobs in this country without those problems, so certainly can understand where some of this has come from.
  2. Is there any mention of a price for this product?
  3. eeeerrr if the price Hornby has been charging is not enough to keep the company afloat then we've actually been paying less.
  4. I remember John Peel standing in for a daytime DJ on radio one and having to do the album chart rundown, He got to Clapton and read out "Number 13 Eric Clapton - Unplugged...........if only" I share the sentiment.
  5. That is quite possibly true, but the cynic in me thinks that should Sterling recover to some extent then I doubt we'll see a price reduction.
  6. It's a pity we don't still have the "Disagree" button....
  7. Had a few days in Swanage recently, for one day we went to Arne (RSPB) while there we saw an Osprey as well as various water birds. Didn't get very good pics of the Osprey but right at the end of the day we had a barn Owl pass right in front of the hide As she flew by the camera shutters sounded like automatic gunfire ! After Swanage we had 7 days in Menorca, we went to their Nature reserve/park which was a pleasant day out and watched Ospreys there too, We saw one catching fish but it was on the other side of the lake. Honest Guv...if you look you can just see a fish dangling from its talons, through the bino's we watched as a Heron hassled the Osprey which dropped the fish.
  8. Not around here, nature is very good at balancing things without the intervention of man. When there is a large population of something the Sparrowhawk will pick them off. They do like to pluck them in my garden though!
  9. Buy your shares when a company hits a low but with a fair idea that it won't be allowed to fail at that point by its investors/funders(banks), when the price recovers sell some of them to recoup the original investment, what you're left with is in effect "free" shares.
  10. Well I've got some shares in it, How about you?
  11. So we've now moved on from Bros to Buddy Holly.......what next...
  12. I think they categorically stated that they "owe you nothing....nothing at all" so may not be forthcoming with funds.....
  13. Only if the third one is a fledgling. If there is enough food they'll tolerate each other, if there isn't then it's gloves off.
  14. Thats probably covering the J94. I don't see the issue that some seem to have. I build and sell houses, if someone buys off plan they get it for a lesser predetermined price if not they pay the market rate. That's all crowdfunding is. in this case £30 up front, for me more like £50,000 up front.
  15. I think you're fibbing.....that makes you younger than me.... I thought the only one here younger than me was Andy Y...but he looks older...
  16. We had 2 pairs in the garden this year, we're sure one pair bred twice going on the number of fledgeling Robins hassling us on the veg plot.
  17. The best way to feed Robins is an open table or a mesh stand on the ground as they are floor feeders. Following you into the shed isn't so bad, it's when they take the armchair and remote that you're done for.
  18. Some of us were born after the age of steam and grew up in the diesel era, does that mean that anyone modelling the period after the late 60's isn't a modeller because they have no idea what a reversing lever is?
  19. 25 x 10 !...........Blimey Tony that's rather large for a single builder. Sandy is 27'x10 and is taking a lot of (enjoyable) time, although I will admit I chose a rather bonkers prototype for a single handed build. I don't know your choice of location but interested to see it develop.
  20. So if I understand this correctly. Another car was trying an aggresive overtaking manouvre which you didn't like, so you take your attention from the road and him and reach down into the passenger footwell (which I am unable to do easily from the driving seat) and pick up a hammer (weapon) and then proceed to threaten his passenger with it when he was beside you.. For some strange reason you seem to have it in your head that this behaviour on the road is acceptable and that somehow you weren't in the wrong. I would love to see you in a court of law defending your position as although the other driver was stupid in his driving behaviour you were using the threat of violence against a person to achieve what? a road position. Although the other driver sounds like a tw@t you are actually far worse and should certainly not be on the road except as a passenger in a prison van.
  21. The bricklayer says his wife is much the same. He does say that if it wasn't for Emmerdale Farm then she wouldn't get any fresh air....
  22. You are correct, but Why label those who charge more than you wish to pay as "Greedy" Profit is not a dirty word, you must learn to love it.
  23. So I'm guessing that if you were to sell something of your own on Ebay (Other sites are available) and someone wanted to pay the market price you'd refuse as it didn't cost that when it was first purchased, if you don't then you will be as greedy as any other. Whatever a product costs when it was first produced is immaterial, if it isn't popular then the price will stay low, if on the other hand the amount available is less than the demand the price will rise and squeeze out those unwilling to pay more. It has nothing to do with greed and is all about supply and demand. It's been that way since the dawn of time and is unlikely to change.
  24. I asked at the Kitmaster collectors stand at Warley in Nove/Dec and they had made up ones for £25 and unmade for £40.
  25. I could get a motor and gearbox to fit and made a chassis but the problem comes when you try and mount the cylinders and rods as there's no room for the front bogie to swing.
