  1. Back home now, Lady Bacon said I was to stop dribbling but she knows its a direct result of this afternoon, A superb layout with a very generous layout owner as host. The photographs we see are excellent but "in the flesh" it looks even better. I have to say that the quality of the buildings is something else, couple that to the stock which is superb sitting on track which is excellent and you start to run out of superlatives!! A most enjoyable afternoon and I came away with lots of ideas for the fiddle yard (yes I know, the back of the layout no one wants to see!) Thanks again Gilbert, If I can get just 10% of the flavour of the GN/LNER that you have I'll be a very happy modeller.
  2. Ok I know it's OT but I don't understand why people do this as it's generaly where the person concerned met a most violent end. I'm lucky that I don't own any badly made kits....but that's more to do with what people will buy on Ebay when I cleared out!
  3. I think I know him......or at least I've worked with many of his offspring
  4. Just a thank you for agreeing to attend our show on the 20th Feb in Biggleswade. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/106280-ebmrs-biggleswade-show-20th-february-2016/ Look forward to seeing you there.
  5. I will admit to being a bit thick where electickery is concerned but I don't understand how you connect the + and- to create one bus? or does the digram not show there are 2 seperate wires? Edit - I think I've just worked it out..........sometimes I get there....
  6. I reckon he was wearling those same clothes at mine. . . .He said he was travelling light! Canopy looks good, I'm lucky as mine is much simpler and I picked up D&S valencing some years ago for it.
  7. More likely staring at your Avatar would keep you awake........
  8. Committee meeting* I'm afraid otherwise I would of cadged a lift with a mate who's going. * the sort where weapons are left at the door.....
  9. Mervyn Askew is doing a talk "Wheels around Willington" at Sandy Transport society on the 27th Jan, hopefully he'll cover the railway too, I'll ask him about the aerophoto picture again.
  10. If the owner gets enjoyment from his "creation" and wants others to share in his happiness then where's the problem in that ? I'm quite pleased with what I'm building, but it is a world away from where I started or even not that long ago.
  11. I have a Tortoise which is in an awkward position so used one of the Tortoise remote mounts* to overcome it, for one it's an easy solution for for several probably cheaper to buy the ply, paper and printer ink. I have had to alter it to suit as its operating mechanism is visible with their instructions but much easier for me with just one motor to deal with. *ordered from Digitrains at 11pm on a Sunday and in my hand on following Tuesday, excellent service.
  12. I hit the "Thanks" icon but really meant to say "Thanks, but No Thanks" Mine's just about finished and I certainly don't want to repeat it.
  13. There was a bit of a revolt when they took away the TUC biscuits, they had to put away the comment cards as all they had written on them were "No TUC biscuits = no blood" I reckon the Bourbons will be next.
  14. £40k a year. . . . Blimey all I get is a tea and a biscuit. . Next time I'm taking a bag of crisps too. . . if they'll let me. Without being too nosey I'm guessing you get a blood product rather than a whole unit. I'm O neg so a universal donor, they always want people like me for whole units as in an emergency mine can be given to anyone without type matching.
  15. Oh Dear, my comiserations. As a regular donor there is every chance you have a bit of me in you now. You'll be alright until you feel the urge to install 53 Tortoise motors
  16. Lots of wooden platforms were made from old sleepers, therefore making them 8' deep.

  20. I was thinking back to this. No, but a wide road that leads from and to the A1 He did. When I actually thought about it the scenario where the traffic officer said this was as they were watching drivers exit the A1 at the main roundabout in Sandy and think they were somehow still on a dual carriageway, most caught for overtaking were actually speeding and that was the offence they were prosecuted for, I'd forgotten that it was actually a speed trap. For a 30mph limit we regularly (thats many per hour) get people speeding in excess of 45-50 as they see a wide road and off they go. In another part of Sandy we have a road that serves industrial units that is long and straight (units one side and recreation ground the other) and when the Police set up there they catch so many at 50mph+ it's stupid. In the morning outside our house it is stationary traffice as it queues for the A1, as people encounter the back of the queue there is always a few that think they aren't going fast enough so attempt an overtake only to find there is no way back in and a mass of traffic heading towrds them. They're nearly as funny as the drivers working on laptops in the queue or reading a broadsheet newspaper, the best are the ones doing their make up though and there's just as many men as women
  21. Traffic officer when they were outside my house (30 limit) with a speed trap and stopping people from overtaking. Although a main road, It is a residential area.
  22. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think you are allowed to overtake in a 30 limit as long as the vehicle in front is moving. You just have to wait,
