  1. IIRC It was a sludge carrier at connington tip, identified by Kenneth Leech.
  2. In a word ….No, it’s just not a suitable material. As a decorative board for boxing in around the house it’s fine, but for our needs it has too many pitfalls. 9mm birch ply for the top and 6mm framing is probably the most stable.
  3. I just find the rebuild really interesting and you're doing a top job of it. First came in contact with 26's (and 27's) in the late 70's when I first went to Scotland and up to the far North. Only recently went to John O Groats and popped into Thurso to relive some memories.
  4. That's a local village for local people...😀 Bill is fine and I speak to him regularly, I am slowly converting him to the GN.
  5. I think he might mean 1048 western lady, although this now has a new custodian/owner in the last few days.
  6. They’re the ones allowed to comment, I know of quite a few who have been blocked for asking questions which have been deleted.
  7. Too late 😀 although I'm technically 500 yards over the border. Your Dads book needs a reprint, trying to find one is near impossible (apart from paying £30 for a secondhand one) and I'd rather give my money to the NERA.
  8. Whilst HS2 was a decision made by politicians (not POLITICANS) and is, as such a political decision. Your posts such as these Are nothing to do with HS2 but are quite obviously your personal political opinion of a large percentage of the population. It contributes nothing to the thread apart from the threat of locking.
  9. Is there just the slightest chance that you could quit with the politics, it gets really tiresome wading through post after post of the same cr@p.
  10. A lot of cars have a live terminal separate to the battery terminal so you can attach another feed and keep the car 'live' while you change a battery.
  11. Whenever I read/hear that I always think 'Oh yes, of course you do' as you can't name them as they have to be anonymous, but yet they blabbed to you...🙄
  12. This is a bit off topic for HS2, but my understanding is the problem stems from Virgin creating a timetable that was based on drivers working overtime and rest day working rather than emptying more, then when the Avanti took over the DFT put a block on them recruiting more drivers which their franchise proposal had be based on.
  13. I saw this technique about 25 years ago at an aeromodellers event, the superglue and baking powder make up a fast setting filler paste, I've used it a few times...if I can remember where I've put the baking powder...🤔
  14. That pretty much sums up KR's business model, over promise and under deliver and they'll still sell.
  15. Looks like 'Windstar' or ???(I've forgotten the name) First saw them in the Caribbean possibly 25 years ago.
  16. So "you believe" is that actually based on any factual evidence? The problem with the rest of your post is that it doesn't actually represent the known facts.
  17. I have, it's not pretty and its ineffective at anything it touches.... deposit return scheme anyone?
  18. IIRC he had to do it twice for the camera crew.
  19. I will come to the defence of D9012 having known him since School days (Oh Jeez ,that's 50 years!) as well as being our club Chairman (although I didn't vote for him🤣) and say that he does carry out research for us within club and really appreciates Davids work. Although I will admit that I do ignore his research as it's nothing to do with the GN. His one saving grace is that he doesn't come from Kempston... although Biggleswade isn't much better..and to compound it he's a Wycombe Wanderers fan. Over my shoulder Sherrie is saying petrol, flames, fan, but I've no idea what she's on about..
  20. Passed back over last night at 20.00 heading North, works were ongoing under flood lights, couldn't really tell what they were doing.
  21. Good point. My nearest station is 22 miles away. I made a journey yesterday to Grantham from it (Berwick upon Tweed) but it's still a 35 minute car journey to get to BoT. If I opted for the bus, it's possible, but becomes a 30+ mile and 2 hour journey.
  22. Just passed Plessey on the 06.34 off Berwick upon Tweed. We were crossed over to the the down at Morpeth and then back onto the up just south of the viaduct. The TSR is something like 50 mph. there is quite a large compound with temporary roadway on the down side with some substantial machinery on site. Knowing the hire cost and haulage of this kit I’d guess the repair will equate to well over 50 years of its maintenance budget.
