  1. The best noise a banjo makes, is when you hear it bouncing off an accordion after being thrown in a skip 😀
  2. How do you know if there's a drummer at the door ? ...The knocking gets faster.. What do you call a drummer that's left his girlfriend ?....Homeless.
  3. you’re never too old to learn. 🙂 I haven’t used it before but know someone who has and has been pleased with it, it was though screwed down to a substantial framework so if I did try it I’d certainly want to see it first in case it us too lightweight 👍
  4. Off topic but my father spoke to Doenitz when he inspected the MM PoW camp, Dad could speak some German and had ben asked by the hut Captain to ask a question. Dads verdict was "funny little fellow"
  5. At least you know the opening bars to it..
  6. As Mike has said “There ain’t no going back for that timber” Any timber you use outside should ideally be suited for the environment (treated) but stock such as fencing rails is made up from the poorest available material and will go the same way. I’ve thought about doing something fun outside and would look at a composite decking board or a timber decking board covered in ‘torch on’ felt on a metal sub structure such as dexion.
  7. Evening Alan. I've got one of these kits in the stash. The measurement across the footplate is 28.3mm. Let me know if you need a copy of the instructions. Dave
  8. Having lived in Sandy for 50+ years until 18 months ago, the problem with Black cat is that so many just don't understand the much bigger picture surrounding the A1. For all the talk about a better A1/A428 junction and how the Government wouldn't spend money, the point is missed that the A1 at this point is a dual carriageway along the route of the Great North Road rather than a motorway standard multi lane road. The approach from the South includes 2 ninety degree bends across the Ouse where there have been many more accidents than on the roundabout itself. (most are cars and lorries not making the second bend even though it is a 50mph limit) https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.179445,-0.3011399,1344m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu Black cat is just one of 5 roundabouts (Buckden, Black Cat, Sandy, Biggleswade North & South) Between Berwick upon Tweed and Stirling Corner and the Sandy and Biggleswade roundabouts suffer from much worse traffic congestion than Black cat. The A1 in Bedfordshire requires moving a substantial distance to overcome the many obstacles that limit its development, but the cost some 25-30 years ago was costed at 2+ Billion and faced a lot of opposition.
  9. Padstein is the name my (Cornish) cousins now call it. I last went in the early 90's, doubt I'll revisit.
  10. Good for wood drill bits but You must never use the drill Chuck with old style hammer drill bits, the Chuck us held tightly in the SDS Chuck with none of the ‘play’ required to hammer into the wall. the drill Chuck fitted and the drill on SDS is guaranteed to kill the SDS head.
  11. Why not ask Arthur K, his contact details are on the latest list (from last year) C. A. Kimber 23, Ulverston Crescent Lytham St. Annes, Lancashire FY8 3RZ Telephone 01253 725143 Email CharlesArthurK@aol.com NORTHEASTERN%20KITS%20PRICE%20LIST.pdf
  12. I should have put 'Warning tape' such as this https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Necessities_Index/Electric_Cable_Below_Tape/index.html You can get much shorter lengths or put it in a metal pipe to protect it from spades etc
  13. View Advert Bachmann 105 DMU, Green with half yellow ends I'm selling this on behalf of a friend in Canada as the post would be prohibitive from home. 16. If you hide cable it needs to be at least 450mm underground with a tell tale strip 100mm above it. I would never advise placing it in the joints between slabs, I'd be surprised if the armoured cable would actually bend that sharply between joints. I'd also be wary of tagging it onto the kitchen supply, this is usually (but not always depending on the age of installation) a separate circuit as it has the highest load in the house. The electricians that work for me always make any exterior supply a standalone circuit. Out of interest are the electricians NiC EiC or another accreditation body?
  17. That happened back in the early 60's when the A1 (Great North Road) was dualled. Any further development in Tempsford Church end is hampered by the proximity of the river Ouse. Station road though is open farmland to the North and was identified by Central Bedfordshire council as a site for major development some years ago. The cynic in me wonders if the mayor of Bedford pushing for the the Northern route (which wasn't the preferred route by a wide margin) was also backed by CBC although somewhat unpublicised.
  18. Have Rails not given an approximate delivery date? Admittedly any date isn’t guaranteed but should be able to give you an idea of timescale.
  19. I think the phrase is 'That ship has sailed' If you've put money down and it is past your delivery date I'd seek a refund from either KR or your card provider.
  20. It’s not your problem, you have to list with a price you’re happy to accept or start at 99p and take a chance. Bidder B now knows he’s got to pay in excess of £44 to secure, but Bidder A may change his bid by either raising or lowering his final amount. You’ll only know what you’re getting 1 second after the auction finishes. Bidder A would have known he was outbid as you receive an email, they would also known about the bid retraction. You can block-bidder B but he might actually push the price up without actually successfully purchasing as other bidders step in.

  22. Where we used to live there were quite a few large sheds (amazon etc) and to disguise them in the landscape they were painted in shades of blue that was darker towards the base, and lighter (near white) nearer the top. It was quite effective, although quite a few thought that the dark blue should be at the top until you actually study the sky, and see just how light in colour it is.
  23. I reckon within a few weeks the outside will have the shape of a J6...😀 Looking forward to seeing it progress Manna.
