  1. There is a drawing that has appeared in a few Ratty books, none of which I have to hand unfortunately. I might possibly have a scan of it somewhere though....
  2. Utsube-Hachiōji Line 内部・八王子線 - Utsube by Stuart, on Flickr
  3. Could be the Forest of Dean Central line from Awre - have a look at the Railway Clearing House Diagram on Wikipedia:- http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bilson,_Cinderford,_Coleford,_Lydbrook_%26_Lydney_RJD_86.jpg And also here:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_of_Dean_Central_Railway
  4. Very much so! The extra wide-angle lens on my phone helps a lot though I think.
  5. I've had a bit more time and modelling mojo recently so the goods lockup and platform has been completed. I repaired my minor painting disaster (note to self - when touching up make sure you use the *same* shade of brown...) and gave the lockup, the loading platform and also the passenger platform a dirty wash. I got up this morning with to take some photos in the daylight but just as I'd got everything out a thunderstorm hit and it all went rather grey so my apologies for the awful photos below! I did mange to find a new angle though, which is only possible with a smartphone:- So the only building left to finish now is the brick factory, which ironically was the first to be built. I have been doing lots of reading and some experimentation to get a decent brick colour. I think I've found a colour that I like and a method that works for me so that is my next task, along with building up a cardboard structure for the main platform.
  6. Talking of which, I happened upon this yesterday:-
  7. Not a problem. If you pm me your email address I can send you a copy (too large to attach to a pm)
  8. Hi Jamie Have you seen the article on the electrification in Tramway & Railway World of June 1908? It has all the usual photos plus a few details of the trains that I haven't seen before, including a roof shot and an interior with the motor hatches lifted. May be useful for your EMU build? I can't post them here unfortunately as I'm not sure of the copyright/usage restrictions of the archive where I found it.
  9. Flinders Street station, Melbourne this afternoon. The St. Kilda and Port Melbourne lines have not run through here since they were converted to light rail in 1987 and tacked onto the tram network instead.
  10. Castlemaine-Maldon branch this afternoon. Needless to say, I didn't notice the coffee cup until I got home!
  11. As ruggedpeak says, the originals have a Creative Commons licence which allows the Flickr user to post a copy of the image there. Even if this wasn't the case, I have just linked to the Flickr files using the share function, so there isn't actually a copy on RMweb. (But if they had been dodgy, I wouldn't have done it anyway) There are hundreds of scenic shots in this collection and I came across many more with railway interest from all over the country. I also posted a few on the Forest of Dean (http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/89344-somewhere-in-the-forest-of-dean/page-4&do=findComment&comment=1834721) and Cornwall Today threads (http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/37636-cornwall-today-daily-duchy-updates/page-108&do=findComment&comment=1835920) but I have been wondering if maybe I should start a new thread somewhere?
  12. I recently came across a stash of UK photos from the Detroit Publishing Co on Flickr. Here are some from Dawlish, thought to be in the 1890s:- From station, Dawlish, England-LCCN2002696649 by Fæ, on Flickr From Royal Hotel, Dawlish, England-LCCN2002696650 by Fæ, on Flickr View from Lea Mount, Dawlish, England-LCCN2002696648 by Fæ, on Flickr Boating beach, Dawlish, England-LCCN2002696651 by Fæ, on Flickr Bathing cove, Dawlish, England-LCCN2002696652 by Fæ, on Flickr View from E. Cliff, Teignmouth, England-LCCN2002708154 by Fæ, on Flickr I recommend clicking through to Flickr and looking at the full size ones - the detail is amazing!
  13. Awesome aren't they? They are from the Library of Congress collection but someone has spent hours putting all the UK ones on Flickr which makes them easy to link to. There are some nice West Country ones too which I'll put in the appropriate threads. Edit: See posts here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/37636-cornwall-today-daily-duchy-updates/page-108&do=findComment&comment=1835920 (Falmouth, St Ives & Saltash) and here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/81949-washout-at-dawlish/page-193&do=findComment&comment=1835922 (Dawlish)
  14. I recently came across a stash of UK photos from the Detroit Publishing Co on Flickr. Here are the S&W ones:- The Severn Bridge, Sharpness, England-LCCN2002708092 by Fæ, on Flickr Viaduct, I., Lydbrook (Lower), England-LCCN2002696995 by Fæ, on Flickr Viaduct, II., Lydbrook (Lower), England-LCCN2002696996 by Fæ, on Flickr

  16. Thanks very much guys, much appreciated, I'm very happy with the green factory myself, but I should point out that all the buildings were very much inspired by Osney (http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/56870-osney-town-ii-and-other-0-gauge-micro-layouts/page-1) which showed me that low-relief buildings can look effective provided they have sufficient depth (if that isn't a oxymoron!) I scratchbuilt a matching precast loading dock from spare plasticard and square section (provided as the 'roof' for the brick factory kit) but then had a minor painting disaster when adding the pipework to the store, so I packed it all away in disgust. One unexpected effect of designing the layout to look inconspicuous is that when it's packed up you tend to forget all about it!
  17. A good picture of the Padarn Railway Hardy tractor here:- http://www.penmorfa.com/Slate/padarn-railway.htm
  18. A couple of shots from my last visit on a trip 'home' in September 2007. After many years of visiting Norchard (and probably Parkend before that when I was too young to remember) I finally got to go on the line up to Parkend. I think that it had not long reopened at this point and Parkend services were a DMU shuttle from the high level platform at Norchard, while steam services to Lydney used the low level platform.
  19. A couple of hours on a wet summer afternoon with a well-designed kit produced this little precast beauty. I've shortened the canopy by about 2ft but otherwise it's as per the Rail Central kit. Just waiting for the paint to dry on the rainwater pipes and separator before I glue them on and then a dirty wash overall. I also need to create a matching precast loading platform. And some overall progress shots. The footbridge got it's dirty wash and is done but that's about it recently.
  20. Not the best photo, but I recently came across this engraving from The Engineer of the NSR loco (BEL2?) at Oakamoor in 1932:- Original article here:- http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/The_Engineer_1932/10/07 page 361. Several other shots at Oakamoor here:- http://www.nsrailway.co.uk/historical%20pictures/oakamoor/gallery.htm So would I correct in thinking that the Midland Loco became BEL1 and the North Staffordshire loco became BEL2 in BR days?
  21. Some pictures in BR livery here:- http://www.nsrailway.co.uk/historical%20pictures/oakamoor/gallery.htm
  22. London Rd was the original Bakerloo depot. Originally there was a ramp between the two sets of sidings that was used to deliver the Gate stock by road, as the line wasn't rail connected until the extension to Queens Park opened. There used to be more sheds and workshops on the rhs as well.
  23. There are some drawings of the viaduct and a cross-section of Alexanderplatz station in The Engineer for 01st April 1887:- http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/The_Engineer_1887/04/01
