  1. It was even worse if you were sat on the lav. Stuff that jumped out of the pot had to be seen to be believed. https://flic.kr/p/M296SR
  2. Nice buffers. Unlike the Heljan model.
  3. Just business/financial aspect. Nothing on the P.R. front. 😉
  4. When/if? the Hornby 2MT turns up, I'm waiting to see if any of the yoochoob reviewers/influenzas dare to use the collocation "eagerly anticipated"???
  5. Well; "apparently" there are confirmed reports of aliens arriving in Nevada this week so maybe the 2MT will not be far behind them. I'm not sure if "apparently" refers to "confirmed reports" or "real aliens"? Maybe "Comet" models to a 2MT.
  6. Highly knowledgeable reply. You the seller then? 😉
  7. I'm up for it. Only for sentimental value though. My maternal grandfatha worked at Armstrongs and turned the first 16" gun barrel manufactured. Dang! There goes the profit from my trout.
  8. Nah. I'm to old to have birthdays now. (once you've seen on you've seen them all syndrome) Bought from a second hand stall at an exhibition. Then a collector just kept upping an offer to buy them. The collector couldn't quite grasp why a modeller needs more than one item. He tried giving me a "good stiff talking to" when I showed him one of the new purchases floating about in a jar of paint stripper. Lets just say I could have bought another eight trout (if available) with what he was offering me for just one.
  9. Tenner a pop if you know where to look (tis a secret). This one actually cost me a positive fiscal amount. Perfect for something that needed to go under the scalpel. And there's a fella around these parts who recently bought half a dozen from ebay at a very reasonable cost then proceeded to give three of them away to pals. Nowt fishy about that deal.
  10. I don't think the windows are broken. Take a look at this pic of 5579 in the next platform. "Reflections" are almost identical.
  11. 😲 Now that might just make it worth travelling all the way down from the North East.
  12. Northern General had a full fleet of them. Mrs Milburn (bottom left is waiting to jump on one) after finishing her shift at Brough's store behind the routemaster. Here's a restored example in about the same spot. (At about the bottom of station lane. 2099 PCN762 AEC Routemaster Northern General by emdjt42, on Flickr
  13. Following the lockdowns, sometimes I wonder if some venues find a larger model railway exhibition too much hassle? Organising a model railway exhibition I'd imagine is an almost full time job and a thankless task. I know I wouldn't do it for the world. Regarding the funfair and knowing some folk that run them, they seem to be organised on a same place, same time of year basis but (and taking into account things have changed considerably over the last few years) was there not some responsibility on the Scalefour Crewe organisers to endeavour to find out if there is other events that could impact the show. Especially one that appears to be taking place right outside the entrance door of the venue. Looking at the flyer for the funfair it seems the Football club and their agents have had plenty of prior notice and they also should have been making any prospective venue hirers aware. It would seem there has been info available on't interwebby about the fair for sometime. Hey ho. Hopefully, like the rail strike and for those travelling from the North (further north) having to compete for road space on the M6 with two sets of Mancunian football supporters, it will not have too much impact on show attendance. Maybe the Scalefour organisers could go out and leaflet some of Joe Whites clientele with a view to increasing attendance & attracting new members. 😲
  14. May be worth a read: https://www.scalefour.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=8587&start=25#p97880
  15. Reads like an E mail that was first sent to Modelmaster (Transfers) for approval & sign off. P
  16. You'll have seen most of these: He's just posted up a full series of Rosedale. Rosedale - The Depots by Knox Family, on Flickr
  17. Ah hah! That's whose been buying up all those 50p mobby phone vibrators off eBay.
  18. Yep, I realised that, and quite funny too, but I wonder how many others realised the KR Fell is a little unbalanced.
  19. Indeed. But a commercial company makes an announcement of an announcement and then... they make no announcement! (as has already been said). Cant be good for prospective customer confidence. Said company uses "hype" marketing phrases such as, "I'm talking about deal of the century", "something that's going to shake things up!" (Porcy sez, perhaps a working tippler set with operating vibrator?) " There's also, "and here's the thing - it's not just about the deal itself. It's about what it represents". We're taking model railways here, and a relatively new company trying to build up customer goodwill. Not a youtube marketing campaign for waterproof razors that doesn't nick your gooleys or a wonder product that makes you look twenty years younger. Maybe it's a special offer for bulk purchases of 12 mm 3 hole disk wheels that have a pink appearance?
