Useful NCE Powercab PCP Panel modification.
dasatcopthorne replied to F-UnitMad's topic in DCC Help & Questions

A very few of you will have seen posts regarding this H0 layout in the 'Exhibition' section but little else has appeared here. Built and owned by our Club Member, Graham Broad, in 2019 it won the Continental Modeller mag Best Layout at the Warley show. I thought it was about time to post a few pics. Dave.

The AS Class 37 was my first ever Factory sound fitted loco. In the past I have always fitted my own using Legoman chips (34 now) and I've learnt my lesson the hard way. 😭 Back to Legoman as I need a re-blow or two soon to keep up with developments. Dave.

Very kind of you to offer Charlie and much appreciated. Unable to take up the offer though, as I just couldn't stand the set up, it was so bad. It's now with a new loving owner and I made £10. Thanks once again Charlie. Dave Smith

Dapol 73 chassis will it fit a Lima body?
dasatcopthorne replied to ptrabant's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
I have literally, just now, tried it. It fits with a tiny bit removed from the Lima body at the very bottom of two front coners. You will need to find if the Dapol cabs fit though as I'm not in a position to try them. The Lima boy sits on the Dapol buffer beams just like the Dapol body. Dave. -
I wanted a refund for my 37 because reducing the volume to allow the loco to run was not satisfactory in my eyes. However, they would not accept that I could have a refund so it went back to them. Two weeks later and its back and cured. However, the quality of sound is not upto scratch. I'm beginning to think this is a sound file by ESU. Good sound on start up and pulling away. Tickover is barely audible thought. Its going to be sold and will be the first and last AS loco I own. Dave.

In my experience most Bachamann locos need the grease clea ed out of the bogies, the fickups adjusted outwards nad then lightly re greased . Always works for me. Dave.

Tarpaulin Material ?
dasatcopthorne replied to jackshobbies's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
I made this using a Youtube vid from somewhere. 3/4 sheets of tissue paper together soaked with watered PVA and whilst still slightly wet, moulded over the end of a wagon. When dry, black thread used to secure ans then weathered. Dave. -
On my own layout, I use Servos for turnouts so a juicer is perfect. Dave.
-
On our layout where they are in use, we have hand operated points (fiddleyard entry/exit) and 2 of the frogs are on a diamond. Dave.
-
We discovered that the problem with fully solid state juicers is the power rating capacity. One loco mostly seems to be fine but beware of locos that draw more current than the juicer components can handle. Dave.

We had a group of turnouts and a diamond needing 6 frogs controlled. We first fitted solid state juicers but 2 kept blowing. We've now changed to Gaugemaster solid state and they have proved very reliable on an intensive exhibition layout. Would recommend. Dave.

I have been back to Anerley this morning as I realised that there was some data missing and that the bridge parapet was unusually low. I'll post the shots shortly. Dave. -

Why not use coloured felt tips? Dave.
