Yes, and if I had done it, or it was a genuine NCE one, it would be better. But this was a cheapo lead off ebay, as I don't have the required crimper, and used the original lead as part of the control bus on my main layout. 😉

But yes you make a valid point that people should be aware of. 👍

Crimping pliers on eBay about £9. P.ugs very cheap.

    Hi Steve,

I wish I'd seen this sooner or exhibitors had been emailed about this as I've just paid a £60 fine for setting up on the Friday.  Will my fine be refunded please?

    Thanks,

    Tom Marshall

I was told by Phil Parker to 'stop banging on about this problem'.

And here we are weeks after the event where the organisers seem to have done nothing about informing exhibitors about the problem and I'm sure many have paid up.

Try these - I use mine on a table top - relatively cheap - can make pretty much any shape - virtually weightless - easily installed / removed, etc etc

Very helpful but what are they and where do you get them please ?

  4. A very few of you will have seen posts regarding this H0 layout in the 'Exhibition' section but little else has appeared here.

Built and owned by our Club Member, Graham Broad, in 2019 it won the Continental Modeller mag Best Layout at the Warley show.

I thought it was about time to post a few pics.

  5. The AS Class 37 was my first ever Factory sound fitted loco.

In the past I have always fitted my own using Legoman chips (34 now) and I've learnt my lesson the hard way. 😭

Back to Legoman as I need a re-blow or two soon to keep up with developments.

  6. Very kind of you to offer Charlie and much appreciated.

Unable to take up the offer though, as I just couldn't stand the set up, it was so bad. It's now with a new loving owner and I made £10.

    Thanks once again Charlie.

  7. I wanted a refund for my 37 because reducing the volume to allow the loco to run was not satisfactory in my eyes.

However, they would not accept that I could have a refund  so it went back to them. Two weeks later and its back and cured. However, the quality of sound is not upto scratch. I'm beginning to think this is a sound file by ESU. Good sound on start up and pulling away. Tickover is barely audible thought. Its going to be sold and will be the first and last AS loco I own.

Surely at the price that these devices are it is much more cost effective to use a motor with a built in switch that changes the frog polarity?

They seem a very expensive solution for something that has already been solved for many years.

On our layout where they are in use, we have hand operated points (fiddleyard entry/exit) and 2 of the frogs are on a diamond.

  9. We had a group of turnouts and a diamond needing 6 frogs controlled. We first fitted solid state juicers but 2 kept blowing.

We've now changed to Gaugemaster solid state and they have proved very reliable on an intensive exhibition layout.

    Would recommend.
