Southern Region Concrete Signal Gantries
dasatcopthorne replied to ikcdab's topic in UK Prototype Questions
I wasn't suggesting printing the handrails. More the length of the horizontal platform so that all occurances would be covered. Now I've read it again, it does rather read incorrectly. Sorry. Dave. -

Counting the positions of the uprights of the safety railings, one of the pics shows 4 spacing and some 3. Printing them with 4 would allow them to be cut down if necessary. Dave -

Guys. Today I have been to Anerley and found the up Starter? still in place. Better still, the Down Starter? is still there and reachable from a position of safety. Here's what I have obtained. Sorry about my drawing skills. It's a long time since I was at school. -

Your drawing is missing the horizontal 'landing' at the top of the ladder. I count only 5 steps between the 'lower landing' and the top horizontal surface. Dave. -
Abingdon and District MRC 50 Years - ABRAIL 24 - 2nd/3rd March
dasatcopthorne replied to Hadders64's topic in Exhibitions
Well! I've been to a good few shows over the years ( I'm 76) all around the country and this has to have had possibly the best ever selection of layouts gathered together in one place. Everyone a top class attraction. They may not have all been to my taste but I can appreciate a good layout whatever it's about Yes, the venue isn't perfect both for exhibitors and customers alike but this was far outweighed by the choice of layouts. The show was heaving most of Saturday and Sunday until about 2pm. I heard that the caterers had difficulty keeping up with demand. I understand that they have booked next year for two days agian and I'm now wondering how they will repeat the quality. Next year, please find more corners for a variety of traders obviously missing from this year. All the best. Dave. -
Ballast and painting track
dasatcopthorne replied to barney121e's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
I think it depends on the finish you require. Find some pictures of the track you want. Newish ballast, then paint track first bearing in mind if you want weathered sleepers or not. Rail is always rusty or gone even darker. Then some slight weathering of your ballast. If you want older dirty ballast and track, then weather down the whole track, ballast and then weather again with more or less the same colour. Dave. -

Mmm. I'll have to try another approach. May go and measure the thickness of that signal near Sydenham. Dave. -

Hi. Just found this thread. I gave up looking for a drawing of one of these about 5 years ago. My interest has been rekindled lately. Has anything come to light yet on these please? Dave. -

I thought it looked a bit narrow and suppliying the drawing was a kinder way of saying so. Best of luck. Dave. -

Darius. The sliding door openings are 5' 10" wide. Here are the measurements I took on the same day. Hope they help. Dave -

Elbow Lane. Having a rest while I build board 4.
dasatcopthorne replied to dasatcopthorne's topic in Layout topics
Someone asked if 2694 was a kit. No. Underneath the painted card 'covering' is an old Triang/Hornby Mk1 chassis and roof fitted with Pespex sides. Similar to the shots below. Dave. -
Darius. Pics moved to Stores Unit thread. Dave.

Some compartments were left in place and each seemed to have differing stores parts in them. I'll get some pics prepared. Dave.
