  1. from my memory of early teenage spotting days in the early 80's, the doorway in the wall lead to the outside but there was a sizable whitewashed area surrounding it with an outline of brickwork suggesting there was some kind of building attached to the side, it cant have been very deep though as the access footpath was down that side of the shed.... the rear of the shed from memory wasn't far from the boundary fence with the road with strengthening buttresses with no space for a building to the rear
  2. In 1990 I went on a motorbike trip around Europe ,I’m planning on retracing my steps and I need help identifying this location, we travelled down from Lyon so it will have been at the Tournon-sur-Rhòne end of the line, if anyone can remember this loco on a plinth I would be so grateful if they could pin point it.. many thanks Darren
  3. i have been reading a book abouts the 'Peaks' and it mentioned that the nameplates were removed around the 1970's because of a spate of thefts, i presume other classes where included in this spate i.e. the 40's etc, my question is which nameplates were stolen ?, and were any ever recovered or have they surfaced in auction houses over the years etc...i remember walking through a named 40 on Northwich shed and it didnt look any easy job to remove the nameplate but then i was only a kid with a rudimentary tool kit for fixing my Raleigh Bomber at the time...
  4. if you try Facebook theres Middlewich past & present site which sometimes posts copies of a magazine called 'Salt News' i think, the last edition had pictures of the middlewich salt works with pictures of the track layout/sidings etc and pic of a 31 ( i think ) shunting some of the salt wagons. 5. I want to build a wagon in G scale 45mm, i have the full scale plans but i'm wondering is there anyone/ a company who would convert them from the old imperial measurments down to 45mm and then print build plans for me to follow ?., or can anyone provide me with any easy to follow conversion scale, although i'd still want some plans printing. thanks Darren
  6. I'm looking to construct out of plastic or brass the LMS 65 ton bogie trolley , I have the book LMS wagons by R.J.Essery with its basic plan and photos, my question is where would I get a detail build plan up scaled to gauge 1 proportions, I have looked on the HMRS website but find it very difficult to navigate around In case they offered such an option.. Thanks Darren

  8. There's an organisation which was based in the old Northwich Steam Shed, they even had their own coach which was stabled inside the shed, called the ' 8E society ' , they have regular meetings in the town, they may be able to help with any questions or point you in the right direction. Darren
  9. Hi, forgive me if i can't see for looking, i've just paid the balance for my sound version, but i cant see the option to purchase the extra trailing car ( i did select one at pre-ordering), any help pointing me in a probably obvious direction would be welcome, thanks Darren
  10. Ive bought some G scale LGB bolster wagons to which i'm going to fit sprung buffers, screw couplings, repainting, weathering etc, as my locos and track are in the darkest recesses of the loft and without wanting to get covered in cobwebs and dead flies before the weekend i have nothing to measure against, does anyone know what the measurement is from buffer center to track height for gauge 1 please.. thanks Darren
