I am building a large 0 gauge layout and have found the Lenz DCC system is perfect for operating in this gauge . The recent addition of the wireless hand throttle has been a massive advance to the system

it’s booked via crewe both ways anyway so I’ll get there, just been to Wellington shopping and the station car park is noticeably empty compared to normal so it goes to show how many people use the train into the likes of brumI’ve seen pics of the landslide and it’s pretty much where new Hadley station used to be, the whole area was a derelict wasteland until about 3 years ago, looked like old quarry workings, then surprise surprise it was developed into a housing estate with new roads and paved areas and low and behold a landslide happens!
It beggars belief that the people who come up with these plans for housing estates and the planning authorities that then allow the building to take place still never seem to learn that this sort of thing occurs. Maybe Network Rail should send the bill to the local planning authority for causing the land slip ………

Some nice pictures of the Class 25 and I would agree that the Paul Chetter sound file is the best on the market of all Loco types

They have to plan the paths in advance as well as the test crew, test train operator and driver amongst other things
it could cancelled if there’s an issue or it might just be that the testing thats been planned is complete, sometimes if that happens then it will go out and do another part of the required testing schedule if it’s possible
As it happens tomorrow’s run is cancelled too so I’m now just spare (hoping not to get a call!)
Ha ha you wish !!!!!!

Ref Heljan spares
I have often bought spares from GM without any ongoing issues. However I was surprised to hear the other day that Heljan do not supply GM with any screws or metal parts and this has been the case since GM took over the spares supply. I’ve been trying to source the long screws that secure the body of the 0 gauge locos to the chassis which considering the weight involved are fairly vital components. I’m a big fan of Heljan 0 gauge locomotives but do find the lack of backing from this manufacture somewhat frustrating.

The main issues with Royal Mail is it isn't blanket, problems seem to be very regional depending on depots and local sorting offices.
Round here the RM are fantastic! Can always rely on getting parcels super quick, and have done for years. But I know other areas it's the opposite.
The Royal Mail around our area is getting really bad I've been told by our postie that we are now only getting deliveries every other day because there are no staff to do the deliveries ....

I saw the black version on Tuesday night on a friends layout and was very impressed by the straight out of the box running performance. Generally very pleased with the long awaited model but I have to agree with others comments ‘Bling’ was the first thing that came into my mind. I never saw an ex-works example personally the ones I saw around the Chester area were very uncared for and I’m sure my normal weathering skills will put the model into the right state of appearance.

Possession yesterday, the worksite was actually cancelled so the wagons went back loaded, started in stone
north staffs railway station
My train sat at the junction, the line to Stafford to the left and colwich to the right
Goods shed
Looking south, there are only platforms on the Stafford side now
My train of auto hoppers. Had to fire it up and brake test it etc
Once sorted I dropped down to the crossing which was under local control, 66731 on a train going the other way
Once he was ready to move the crossing was operated manually and the driver given permission to cross it, the crossing attendant is giving a green light to show its safe to proceed, I had similar when I set off too
And into bescot
On to another train, this time going to rugby, rear loco
Lead loco
66732 with a weird addition of black window surrounds, seems to be painted with some sort of mottled paint, at first I thought it was dirt!
Into Rugby
supposedly a scrap train later but it’s a bit up in the air as to whether it’s running, then after that it’s a slate train crewe to bescot so I’m hoping the scrap isn’t running so I don’t have to drive to hams hall for the loco
Hi Jim you mentioned a slate train to Bescot just as a matter of interest where does this train start from ?

And the pics from today
66797 up front
Into Dee marsh and backed in, a long train today, 25 wagons but mostly BRA type so a good 50ft longer than usual as I found out in the headshunt when I had to drive through the bushes at the top end to clear the points behind it!
Picked up the fresh traffic to head south, while I was doing that the internal shunter came along with another rake of wagons, first time I’ve managed to photograph it
It’s called ‘Gavlar’
Shorter train back, just 12 wagons so flew along!
Passenger train passing by
And into hereford
Same tomorrow then a varied week, possession Sunday, scrap train Monday, road learning loco Tuesday, class 69 test/moves on Friday then the toton tripper on Saturday
And as for what I bought……
If only the power’s that be hadn’t sold it what amazing preservation locomotive it would have been 👌

I’ve found that 6ft radius is quite tight for that type of Loco and I personally make 7ft my preferred minimum radius

Altering my new Dapol 121 to how I remember them born out by photos in various DMU albums. The head rests and seat dividers were a light tanned leatherette.
Before;
After:
The painting was done using Tamiya Wooden Deck Tan XF-78.
On the layout body not screwed down and chassis weathering started not finished
No sure why I appear to have double posted some of the photos???????????????????????
It’s to make sure it’s not the real thing

Possession today, northwich to bescot, picked it up in the platform at lostock gralam, 66727 in maritime livery was the loco
Moved to the possession boards
eventually set off, sat outside sandbach for an hour then into crewe for 10 mins
LSL pullman heading off to the shed
into bescot
and over to a couple more 66s that I ended up taking to Leicester
and that’s me done for 5 days, going away, not taking any work gear or uniform with me, having a family break!
Enjoy the time off with the family Jim ……I think you deserve it 🤩

Just to add that I'm not complaining about Jim's pics, or anyone else for that matter. Only wondering why it does it - it's not the end of the world!
I’ve just opened this thread and it took me back to June 14th 🤣 the content is interesting enough to view again so I’m not too bothered , but something in the back of my mind thinks it’s just in case we have missed one of those irritating adverts 🥴🤐

Another excellent Railex and well worth the four year wait. Congratulations and thank you to the Risborough team for making sure the show went ahead in the face of much adversity.
Yes the venue was warm and cosy but as we know, not the fault of the club, so by all accounts going on the Sunday was the right decision. As for the catering, I wasn't troubled as I'd made my own arrangements courtesy of Greggs.
As I've come to expect with Railex, not a duff layout to be seen and all of them saw repeat visits. The excellent trade support meant I got everything on my shopping list.
All in all, five hours well spent and I'm already looking forward to next year.
You can’t beat a ‘Graze at Greggs’ 🤣

Travelled down from Cheshire on Saturday and had a wonderful and enjoyable day. This is only the second time I have attended 'Railex', the first was to see Iain Rice's Cameo competition and I was very glad I did as it enlightened me to the very high quality show that is put on. This show is now down as a 'must do show' every year as in my humble opinion its the 'Best in the Country'
Many thanks to The Princess Risborough team for their efforts

An excellent video Andy you have really works miracles on the station area where there wasn’t really any room for one ….. amazing what can be achieved with a little carefully worked bodgery 🤪
I have to say that what really spoilt the video was and it wasn’t your fault was the advert for dogs with flees that kept encroaching into the viewing scene what a load of !!!!!! This site really is being totally ruined by this invasion of adverts which I know are there to help fund the site but do they have to be so intrusive 😡- 3

Morning Rod well impressed with the progress on the narrow gauge and it’s good that you are taking on a new challenge and enjoying the journey. I have to take my hat off to you as it all looks a bit fiddly something my clumsy fingers wouldn’t cope with. WKT is looks superb as usual excellent .
