  1. These are not by Scalescenes. Scale Model Scenery according to your link.
  2. Similarly, have just received notice and credit on account from Lloyds debit card for £135 deposit on 2 Kings (subject to any dispute from retailer).
  3. My personal experience of this trader. I ordered and paid for two signs at Warley one year on the Sunday morning. Despite assurances, 5 hours later when I had to leave, they still weren’t ready. I was assured they would be posted on to me. I won’t bore you with the amount of emails I sent and phone calls I tried to make. I believe I did exchange one ordinary letter (ie I got one reply). Eventually, one year later, armed with my receipt, I managed to get a refund at Warley! I wouldn’t use them again.
  4. Similar information direct from Dapol at Warley. Expect completion end January/beginning February. Add 6-8 weeks for delivery.
  5. He also popped up at Warley today, along with a very nice, 3D impression of the King. Looking forward to the real thing arriving. Talking to Dave, it’s all very imminent. Just need a few more people with the vision and the hunger!
  6. Had the pleasure of seeing the painted examples of the 50 on Dapols stand at Warley today. Personally, I am very pleased to have ordered one of these, even if it’s stretching my modelling period to its extreme. It really captures the look for me. And that’s what N is all about for me. It’s about the overall impression, rather than the fine detail. Thank you Dapol.
  7. Perfectly understood Dave. Thanks. Looking forward to reading about the continued progress on the project.
  8. Well done Dave. Got there despite the set backs. Orders placed without problem. Please can you just confirm that all other orders, expressions of interest etc over the past year or so for the King are cancelled and that only orders and deposits paid now through the Mk.3 web site will stand? Thanks, Chris
  9. It reads to me that Dave is referring to a Mk 3 website. I assume this is his label for a significant rebuild of the Mk 2, which wasn’t delivered in a usable format, which was supposed to replace the original that lacked e-commerce capability. I don’t think he’s referring to a third payment method.
  10. That’s good to know as I remember having trouble quite a few years ago, when a previous tenant of the house I was renting had obviously been a bad boy. I always had problems when using the address for credit etc. and it all culminated in a police raid at 2 in the morning! Luckily I had a work ID handy to prove that I wasn’t who they were after. Never did find out what he had (allegedly) done.
  11. New site looks good Dave!
  12. Ultimately I guess, everyone is free to avail themselves of all the details and then choose whether or not they wish to partake in the venture. As a happy owner of a number of Dave’s Mermaids, I have chosen to order a King.
  13. Just a thought, but isn’t it possible that they might be on holiday at this time of year?
  14. A truly inspirational person. My early enthusiasm for the hobby was fired by his books. Thank you.

    Egypt

As far as I can remember and using your photo as a clue, it was Delrin chain (again) running up and over sprockets at the top and counter balanced using small nuts (as in nuts and bolts, not cashew). The top sprockets were turned by a complicated spiders web of shafts and gears that linked down to a motor hidden under the raised temple area on the right. Over complicated and doomed to failure. There was one hand held controller with a three way switch to power either the track coming in from a fiddle stick on left, the lift itself, or the guy pushing the skip. That guy could actually pass through the lift shaft (once the platform with skip had descended) spin around 180 degs and then wait just to the left of the shaft opening to wait for another skip to be brought up in the lift. But he had a long wait! Track plan was very simple, mainly due to the width available in a box file turned onto its side. Single track at ground level on left. Single track on upper level to right. Overlapping in the middle where the lift shaft was. There was a little hatch built into the top edge of the file on the right side, so that skip loads could be exchanged, hidden by the small tin shed. I remember the whole project was a fun way to drive yourself insane! Chris

I had lots of problems with the lift unfortunately. It was made out of old Airfix girder bridge sides and plastic strip off cuts! Precision engineering it was not! Just the act of closing up the box file twisted the structure enough to stop it running. In hindsight, I wish I’d used some brass strip and used a hand turning motion rather than trying to motorise it. Still have plans to try again on a larger scale. The chap with the skip (half a chap as he was cut off mid-thigh) was attached to a Delrin chain mounted on about 20 sprockets. He was a bit more successful. Thanks for posting the pic. Think I’ve lost all mine. Chris
  17. Good evening all. Are there any BT engineering types on here? Or should I say Openreach? Please understand I’m not looking to start an argument here, as I am having far too many of those on the phone at the moment. I’m just trying to gain some understanding of the processes involved. Nothing too technical but just a bit more knowledge would be great. So, house move looming, and having checked the BT website, I contacted their relevant department to inform them of said move and supply the requested 30 days notice, to enable my services to be transferred successfully. All seemed to go well with the conversation and I was fairly confident that the result would be achieved. That was until I received an email a couple of hours later to, just let me know, my request had been dealt with and that all my services would be terminated before the end of the day! Now that’s 30 days before anything needed to be switched off or moved. Obviously, I was on the phone within seconds and after only one hour was finally allowed to talk to the “Duty Manager”, having already received the apologies for the mistakes made by the original agent from the afternoon (wrong dates left on the form). Unfortunately, the 45 minutes “chatting” with the DM was just enough for first, the broadband to die and secondly, the phone line to be disconnected as my “job” was finally “completed”! Now, so far, it’s been 48 hours and we have actually got our phone line back up. But the latest news on the broadband is “sometime next week”. Question please. Why can a job not be deleted after committing? Is there no manual intervention possible to halt a job? Having worked in Air Traffic Management, we always needed the option to manually intervene in circumstances where the automatic systems had a problem processing any data. How can it take 3 hours to order, commit and execute a job to switch off broadband and terminate a line, yet it takes 48 hours and an undetermined time, up to 2 weeks, to switch the two back on? Yours, confused and mystified (amongst other emotions). P.s. Posted via 3G data, hanging out of the bedroom window to get a mobile signal (we live in rural Devon).
  18. Just back from a weekend spent at Pendon on Mick’s weathering courses. Highly recommended. I went as a relative novice with little airbrushing experience. The course has given me a lot of confidence to tackle what I thought was going to be a daunting task. Quite looking forward to getting everything dirty now! If you can book one of these courses, go for it! Even better if you can book the two days together. Gives you a great insight into the different materials and techniques available and how you can combine them all to give, IMHO, pretty good results in a short time. Thanks Mick and the rest of the Pendon team.
  19. 4 ordered tonight. BR black and Olive to follow. If others are like me, they just haven’t got round to ordering yet and need a nudge! Chris
  20. Yes, the tiny screws are present! This one is packed in grey sponge foam. Sorted. Many thanks to all!
  21. Can anyone help me with identifying the make of this brass 7mm Class 24 please? Bought a long time ago off an auction site for a never started 7mm project. Now looking to move it on to a good home but want to describe it accurately. The only markings on the box are as shown in the photo. Can't find any markings on the model itself. Comes with a glazing pack. I believe it was a RTR release rather than a kit. Thanks!
  22. Thanks Dave. Obvious really. Just got mixed up with the crowd funded models. I’ll wait patiently.
  23. Hi Dave, Please excuse me if I've missed something either here or on your website, but is it possible to pre-order the Sharks or to record interest in them or are we just to buy them through stockists when they become available? Thanks, Chris.
