About Me
My first trainset arrived at the tender age of 3 - a Hornby Dublo 3 rail set that obviously struck a chord somewhere inside, as here I am 50+ years later still loving the hobby, still learning new things every day and thoroughly enjoying myself in my model railway oriented business DCCconcepts.
I join these forums to share information and most importantly to learn - and always look to give whatever pragmatic help I can. If you want to see me as I am and learn more then then please do visit my website... WWW.DCCconcepts.com. I'll try to get a gallery up on rmweb sometime soon too!
Thanks to the generosity of modelling friends and an approach to the hobby that makes me love being "hands on in most areas", I have gained a good depth of knowledge on many subjects and am always happy to share what I know on and off the forum.
As you can see from this intro, I can rabbit on a bit sometimes but on forum I do my best to give direct and straight answers where I can, with whatever added depth of information I think will help.
If I see something I disagree with I'm likely to say so but I always do it politely. I do occasionally get careless so if you disagree with e say so. I don't mind acknowledging a cock up if I made one :-) :-)
I guess the thing I dislike about forums is the odd stoush that happens with no good reason. I'm old school enough to appreiate courtesy and don't suffer fools gladly but I don't look to or enjoy wasting time on foolish stuff... Every now and again someone tries to read between the lines of my posts but the simple truth is I say what I mean and no more - so.. please don't look for anything between the lines because I always say it up front!
I do often work late trying to help (I'm on the opposite side of the globe) so have no time for hassles or mindless point scoring debates so please... take me as I am, and if you disagree, do it up front and politely, or even better, if there's a bone to pick, take it off list and message me...
Thanks for taking the time to read this - I look forward to saying Hi on forum - or if there is anything I can help with, please feel free to email or message me.
kindest regards
Richard Johnson
