  1. It's tedious for sure, and uses up valuable modelling time, I for one put myself through the pain of safety loops purely for cosmetic purposes as they can be seen, mine will never be as good as Bachmanns but I'm not ditching all my model Palvans just because there's a new kid on the block. I've made jigs to assist in the various shapes and sizes required but I'd be over the moon if pre bent ones were made available by somebody with the wherewithall to do it, until then I shall continue with my suffering! Mike.
  2. And look how he finished up, stark b*ll*ck naked!! Mike.
  3. What's wrong with that, is it going to get thrown away because of the arrival of the Bachmann version?, if so, throw it my way! Mike.
  4. It doesn't matter if you are crap at building kits, enjoying building kits is the general idea isn't it? Most of can't build a kit to the standard of a RTR model, but, without seeing it I can guarantee the Bachmann underframe will be suspect in a few places. I hope we're not turning into a nation of shake the box modellers. Mike.
  5. If we are outlawing copies then there is going to be an a large cloud of smoke over the UK from burning inglenooks! Mike.
  6. Another nail in the coffin of kit building. Mike.
  7. Depends, do you mean the green one with a shell or the one conveniently laid on his back in the Sistine chapel so you can measure him! Oh, and it's Michelangelo. Mike.
  8. The spurious side panels have been removed, you can tell by the presence of the step underneath the number, and although it's not the best picture I have replaced the missing corner support coach bolt heads with rivet transfers. Mike.
  9. With my vans now on the high seas/even higher sky en route to me, Spanish duties now paid!, I've been doing a bit of research. Based on the 2 provisos that a), I haven't read all the thread, (slapped wrists), and b), I'm no expert on SR brakegear variations, assuming there are supposed to be full brake yokes not just a connecting bar between the brakeshoes, are there no brake yoke safety loops on this mechanism, or are they in the accessory packet? Mike.
  10. There's no cure for stupid. Mike.
  11. Is 1mm or 1.2mm suitable?, might be easier to get hold of. Mike.
  12. I've got a couple of Unicorns grazing in my back yard! Mike.
  13. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126154448688? And the transfers also! Mike.
  14. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/296190459326 The empty boxes get ridiculouser and ridiculouser! Mike.
  15. I junked my up and over door and replaced it with a wooden 2 leaf opener, also means you can get wall shelving right up to the door, which was the main reason I did it, the garage wasn't in use as a railway room regrettably. Mike.
  16. Another vote for Gaugemaster, dozens fitted on Wibdenshaw with no issues with sound fitted locos. The only issues I had with the juicers was when using them with NCE CP6 "light bulb" circuit protectors which "blew" faster than the relay operated on the juicer, further experimentation required on that issue! Mike.
  17. Bear in mind that the metal used in diecasting is a sort of high melting point solder, I would imagine the only way to get a successful bond would be by heating up the model and using high melting point solder, an Sn10 at around 300 degrees might work. Mike.
  18. Of course, being devils advocate, yours and my experience in the construction industry might prove or disprove that theory?!! Mike.
