  1. Hi, Yes it is O gauge, I don't think they do a 31 in any other scale :)
  2. I have recently bought a Heljan Class 31 in Green with SYE. The headcode lights come on at the back of the loco and don't come on in the direction of travel. The red lights come on at the back and work fine. Is there a simple fix for this?
  3. I emailed Dapol to explain to them that the headcode and destination blind transfers were too big for the 121 model. I asked if they would be issuing revised replacements but they replied saying that this unlikely as I was the only person who had contacted them about this isuue. Maybe if other customers contacted them about this they will reconsider?
  4. Does anyone know of any news about these? Whenever I have watched a virtual show video update from Heljan there has been no mention of these at all. It seems like Heljan are just focusing on the diesels in the O gauge market - I guess that is understandable if that is where the market is? Just would really like one of these
  5. Does anyone know what is happening with these? Are they in production or are they on hold?
  6. Hi, I watched the Heljan update video yesterday. It was very informative and helpful. The O gauge Class 2251 'Collett Goods' 0-6-0 was not mentioned - is there any update/news on the progress for this loco? Thanks
  7. Hi, thanks for that but I don't think it is going to be a 1960's version of the class 86. The current models are based on the ones that were modified in the early 1970's
  8. I would love the following: - Peak with split head codes in green with half yellow panel. There are no peaks in the current catalogue so is this model being upgraded? A 'skinhead' version of the Class 31 in green. Class 40 in green with split head codes. Any of the the Classes 81-86 in electric blue with half yellow panel and white cab roof. Thompson coaches in maroon livery. That's my dream anyway
  9. This was the best layout at TINGS, absolutely loved it.

    Dapol class 86

I agree, the right choice of emu is almost impossible and there wouldn't be enough demand in N gauge whatever was picked.(probably not enough demand in OO either) Sorry for my mistake about the Thumper. I used to spot at London Bridge and saw them there along with 2BIL, EPB, CEP, VEP but not the MLV and the BELLE had gone by then but you could model a 1960's layout with all these classes but not 1980's or 90's. 4CIG would be great but I agree there are limitations with the location and time zone for maximum usage of these models.

    Dapol class 86

I would love to model 1960's electrics but there is nothing. Dapol will probably not release an 86 in 60's livery and I was hoping that Farish would release their 85 in N Gauge this year, may be they will next year. One problem causing the low sales is that if you wanted to create a layout with electrics you need more than one class to do so. The Farish 87,90 and 91 are not up to current standards (detail, dcc, lights etc) so all you have is a decent 86. With the liveries available you can only model the late 1970's onwards. There are no overhead wire EMU's for the period 1960-1990's either. The same argument goes for Southern EMU's. In N gauge there is only the CEP and the Arnold Brighton Belle next year. You can't satisfactorily create a Southern Electrics layout with only these 2 models. In OO it is now easier as there are at least 6 types of EMU available EPB,CEP,VEP,Thumper, Brighton Belle and MLV.

    Dapol 'Western'

I got the Western Venturer in blue this weekend and I am very impressed with the detail and smooth running. I have put the new Bachmann 21 pin chip in it and it works fine. It was very easy to remove the body and install the chip as there are just 4 screws and the body isn't too tight and doesn't have any body clips to contend with. The dcc settings 1 and 2 operate the cab lights for each end separately. The only problem I have with it is that it derails very easily if your track work is not perfect and it derails when it goes over the insulating plastic rail joiners. I guess this is to do with the flange depths on the wheels - the other diesels I have are all ok. It took me an hour to fit all of the roof panel handles and I lost one because it flew off somewhere when trying to fit it as they are so small and fiddly! It would have been nice to have had 2 or 3 spare handles included! The other detailing parts were fairly easy to fit as the locating holes were not too tight. The valance unclips very easily as well. It is a beautiful model
  13. Hi, I have attached a video of the class 20 in all over green livery. The video also includes clips showing the previous Farish version of the class 20 alongside the new one. It is completely retooled and a very smooth runner. The most noticeable differences are the roof grill, bogies, working lights and the grills on body sides.

    Dapol Britannia

Hi, you don't need to disassemble and oil the 'inside' for the first 50 hours of running. The instructions ask you to oil the running gear before running in. Both my models run beautifully and I have had no problems with them going over pointwork. I have other Farish engines but these are the best runners.

    Dapol Britannia

Hi, there appears to be some room in the boiler at the front for a speaker but not sure how you would get the wires from the decoder in the tender to the front of the boiler

    Dapol Britannia

My William Shakespeare arrived this morning. There are very clear instructions on where to oil the running gear and how to dismantle the body to oil the motor gears and has good diagrams. There is a bag of parts and though I can work out what most of them are it would have been nice to have a sheet explaining what the parts are and where they go (to be fair I have not yet seen the definitive info sheet from Farish either). It ran very well straight from the box for 2 laps and then stopped. When I looked closely one of the rods had bent and jammed. I managed to straigten the rod carefully (with heart in mouth!) and it now works fine. It is a very smooth runner and is also very good at creep speed. It looks great although the wheels and rods are lighter when compared to the Farish Jubilee, Scot and Black 5. I am pleased with it but I don't think it is any better or worse than the Farish steam loco's and not worth £20-30 more. The bottom line for me though is that it looks like a 'Brit' and has been worth the wait and money spent.
  17. I have checked the Bachmann website and there are no releases listed as arriving in the next 60 days - there are also no release months on any of their OO diesels products page - is there a problem?
