Dear AndyMan7, You answered my question about alternate wiring for the x04 motor.

Could you confirm I have understood.

I can remove the suppressor and any wiring attached to it, and remove the eyelet and screw.

This means all I need is a single wire running from the pickup to the insulated spring brush which becomes the positive side. 

This means when the suppressor was used it was connected off the live wire and current then ran via the suppressor to the screw into the engine block down to the plate to complete the circuit (-).
