  7. I have done my Lima ones easy to do plenty of space and if required a more modern motor can be fitted and best of all a fraction of the price of new
  8. First picture looks like you cleared the ghost out of the loco 🤣
  9. Used a lot of them on the odd one I have had to do a reset on program track some are 8to8and the other is 8 try 4 also check not been locked never had many problems but you can get a poor one on any of the chips on the market

  14. I tend too use a 25 watt one but years of using one means I can do most jobs with it but a 15 watt is good for fine work standard solder for electronic use
  15. If you can solder then easy enough to do i always use 8 pin chips so if i want to add lights easy to do .My preference is to solder direct to motor and pick ups but have used a soldering iron since i was 16 now retired some put sockets in but that is there own choice i tend to use a chip that you can add a stay alive cap too but got about 20 odd lima locos all running fine so give it ago nothing to lose and plenty to gain
  16. Done a few Lima locos with the same conversion good results from them and a cheap way to keep your fleet going so if unsure give it a go
  17. I like it suits my ageing brain
  18. If you have a multi meter do a check from the wheels to the socket you should show a short from the wheel set to the socket if not clear that first i had a half ohm reading on one loco and it caused poor running
  19. First one would get my vote but have fun and keep us informed and pick the brains on here of you need any help
  20. I find some of these answers rude those that know electronics will ask for PSU those that do not would ask for a transformer so please think a bit before you reply after all we were all novices once
