  1. Interestingly ebay sent an email today on the subject of tax There’s no new ‘side hustle tax’! We want to give you peace of mind that there’s no new ‘side hustle tax’ or a change to existing tax rules for selling online. In general, if you’re selling unwanted personal possessions, such as used clothes, an old mobile phone or unwanted furniture, it’s very unlikely you’ll have to pay income tax. Selling personal items is not taxed if they’re sold for less than £6,000 and you’re not selling as part of a business. So, you still won’t pay tax unless: • You are ‘trading’ or buying and selling multiple items to try and make a profit or run a business. • You sell an asset for more than £6,000 (the level where the capital gains tax may apply). Check out these examples: Grace, Manchester Grace sells old clothes to make space in her wardrobe. Even if she sells a lot of her old or unwanted clothes, she isn’t trading and sells for less than she paid for them, so there is no tax. Annual eBay income: £420 Annual eBay profit: £0 Taxes owed: £0 Ben, London Ben sells his collection of trading cards for a profit. Even though he receives £18,000 and makes a profit of £2,900, he has a capital gains tax-free allowance, so there is no tax. Annual eBay income: £18,000 Annual eBay profit: £2,900 Taxes owed: £0 Claire, Bristol Claire sold her old furniture when she moved house. Some of the furniture was valuable, but always less than £6,000 per item, so there is no tax. Annual eBay income: £4,000 Annual eBay profit: £0 Taxes owed: £0
  2. Appologies on picking up on an old thread, I'm now working on a Gibson version. Does the GA lay out what each of the frame stretchers looked like? From photos at odd angles I can see bits but would like to make my model a little better Thanks in advance
  3. For such a small station in a very rural area it is a mystery. Were it a busier location you might speculate as to if it were somehow to have wagons on part of the loop and be able to run round them. However the why is a mystery. Do the Officers minutes give any clues?
  4. Ah well, thanks for taking the time to reply. The hunt for a drawing or decent photos of the frame stretchers and valve gear goes on.
  5. I am always amazed by your building and how quickly you motor through them. Do you still have the instructions for this. I am trying to improve a 4mm Alan Gibson one and it looks like the frame spacers are prototypical and I was hoping the insturctions might show the layout?
  6. Definatley Saxby - If its allowed can I recommend (if you do Facebook) and have railway images which are a mystery the Railway Identification Group . We started it to help identify our own negatives and it has grown to cover all eras from Victorian to the present day and all around the world. The just over 3000 members have such amazing knowledge and we get recommended in other groups as the people who can generally help.
  7. Evening all, I have a pair of LSWR B4s ,but I'm not sure what motor / gearbox combination is recommended now that Mashima's are no longer avaiable. Can anyone recommend any please? Thanks in advance
  8. Thanks , yes, lesson learned and it has been added. In fairness if the thing does not sell this time I might take the motor out myself and sell it on.
  9. Not sure if its maddness, but tthat moment when you have listed a kit with potescap and someone who breaks locos up and sells the motor, wheels and engine separtley sends an offer which is so low as to be not even worth what they would list the motor for,
  10. Thanks, I now understand where some of the other parts go through that as well. Do you know what wheel size they are the kit does not say are they 14mm Maunsells?
  11. It's had quite a few bosses in recent years including a former SVR General Manager - saying more would be an ecumenical matter
  12. Thanks, yes thats the one. That would be so helpful. Probably for anyone who has built a D&S kit before it all makes sense, but this is the first one I have ever seen.
  13. After months of searching I found and bought a D&S 32' luggage van, as one of the more unusual vehicles that came through West Moors in one of the push pull sets in the 50s. The instructions are not great, no exploded diagram of the chassis or where things go. The first part of folding up the basic frame and adding the buffer beams was fine. However it then talks about "b(14), (15) end tabs and fit spring suspension units to slots in the solebars, mount on the inside and tabs from the outside face" Does anyone have any idea what that means or a photo of what the underside of one of these kits looks like please that may help to unpick what and where these parts go. Thanks in advance
  14. Sorry Mike I've posted in the wrong place. I will make a separate thread
  15. Sorry for jumping on an old thread. I have managed to get one of these kits, but am stuck. It talks about fitting the springing units 14 and 15, but I have no idea as the instructions do not help as to where they go. Does anyone have a photo of the underside of one of these that might help please?
  16. Thanks I have, I'm Head of HR and some agencies are rubbish but am registered with lots. I had an interview 2 weeks ago and the General Manager turned round and said I had not talked enough about administration. Shows what he thinks. There are just not that many jobs, you apply for lower roles and you are over qualified, higher ones and you have not got the experience as you've not had the job title, you can't go to the public sector becuase they only want people from that sector. It feels like really they think I'm too old. Peeved does not cover it. In the meantime I'm just trying to do everything i can to make the redundancies as fair and human as possible and do things like helping people with cvs and keeping my eyes open for jobs that might suit them. If they weren't decent, nice people it would be easier. To see good people who work for me saying 'am I affected' and I can't answer because we dont yet know is really hard. But as they say I have to keep going, do my best for everyone and keep my fingers crossed for a breakthrough in a market which is vile. Sorry for the ramble.
  17. How is everyone doing. My mojo has started to take a bit of a hit with my anxiety going up. My company is not in a good way and I am once again leading redundancies which includes sadly senior people as well. At the same time I keep looking for and applying for jobs. However most of the time it would be quicker to throw the email in the bin for the level of response. My mother in law said I needed to pull my finger out which is great if I were not applying for jobs. I will be honest that I'm scared of the company going under, having no job and not being able to get another. Ironiclly I've managed to do a bit of modelling, but most of my time seems to be staring into space and just wasting time.
  18. Looking amazing glad that the sun roof is open. First thing you do in the day is get it open and them always being closed on models always confused me.
