  1. Or paid staff are trying to protect themselves and push volunteers out to justify their own existence. Just a different point of view
  2. I have at least 30 or so negatives of Wincanton and its buildings so can post more if interested and when the chance arises will see what I have in terms of plans. I'm sure there is something, just have to find it.
  3. This week I feel totally and finally vindicated that I was gaslighted and probably discriminated against by my last manager (the HRD) they said my role was redundant, yet an exact same role is currently being advertised. They got me to sign a settlement agreement and even though it says it closes off discrimination claims case law now says that is not possible. I can't be bothered with the hassle, just knowing I was right is victory enough. For some it might have been a set back, but ironically it has made me feel better. Odd how things go. If you are being made to feel like its all your fault, doubting yourself, being micromanaged there can be a world beyond.
  4. All the buildings on the Dorset Central were built to a standard design with only minimal differences. In the case of Wincanton. For overall dimensions they fit with that at Sturminster Newton . However as this Rimmer shot shows did not have a rear door. I don't think I have done Wincanton main building, but have done the box and Up waiting shelter I I have got quite a few negatives of Wincanton as I've always thought it a good location
  5. There are a number of reasons for it the bookings being open for events through the year and the announcement of the timetable which is trains only starting from Kidderminster a maximum of 1 steam and 1 or 2 diesel. So a bit more complicated. Volunteers are not able to comment due to the Social Media Policy and have to be careful of what they write.
  6. The paid staff were accounting for about 30% of all turnover. There are lots of rumours floating around of which none have been confirmed. What is certain is that 2023 will be a tough year.
  7. It does , but as the valves were still not set (the SVR offered to do it) the furthest back you could get was 55%! - On ovoids it was using a ton per trip
  8. The first Gala visitor has been announced for Spring Gala. 4079 'Pendennis Castle' will make its first heritage railway appearance at the April event celebrating GWR and formation of the grouping 100 years ago.
  9. You just have to love a pig. Like a comfy pair of old slippers, rough around the edges but does the job wonderfully
  10. Thanks for all your hard work @AY Mod it looks like you have got things resolved. You really do have incredible patience. Its nice to be just back to the normal premium settings.
  11. As they got on the S&D you can also include an S11 (1940s) 4F, 2P, underbuilt West Country. Whilst on the Corkscrew and Salisbury and Dorset you can add K10, L11 and 700
  12. Yes it was and was based out of Bedford shed for that time
  13. Brrr , well instead of a nice warm house the boiler was condemned and the new one will not be fitted till next Thursday. Its enough to try and stay warm!
  14. No progress this week due to failure of the central heating last Tuesday and it is just too cold to do anything apart from things that will bring warmth Ironing, cooking, running around with the hoover. Hopefully we will have it working again tomorrow and be back to it.
  15. No its affecting Pcs too with an ad banner over an amount of the bottom and pop ups
  16. 50% of all turnover currently goes on paid staff.
  17. Hopefully the ad you have just put up @AY Modwill help you to get issues like these fixed quicker and with less loss of hair.
  18. We feel your pain. However this thread is great as it meant I found out quickly there was an issue and its known about and being worked on. What a couple of days you have had.
  19. Always a 50 50 chance , after all that's why they made so many a 50/50 chance of them working. :)
  20. Being busy with work this week has meant not much progress. However today saw a bit of progress. The best way to cure the gap at the cab end by the spashers was to fill in the hole and then redress to fit. Taking the tender top which has been replaced, two pieces were cut and soldered with low melt solder. Although the first one melted before going on and had to be redone. This can now be filled and dressed. I was not happy in reusing the white metal splashers so two new ones have been cut from brass and will be soldered on all being well at some point tomorrow. Attention has turned as well to making the chassis look a little less like two slabs of brass. There was enough to be able to cut using a piercing saw. Then built myself new ashpans from brass and soldered on along with the fitting to hold the injectors. Finally brake hangers have also been added. Next will be frame extensions out of brass to be added to the underside of the body before the boiler goes on. The springs were quickly cobbled together using brass and brass offcuts. Hopefully more next week.
  21. Hello Arthur, I hope you have made a good recovery, have you been able to make any progress on the Q7? With best wishes Duncan
  22. The coal which is very dusty does not help, also its possible the bar was in to try to get through clinker which has been more of a feature again more recently on the current coal. (the amount we see varies by batch, depending on the proportions of the chemical make up which every fireman was taught in an easy way to remember NO CASH)
