  1. I have an old Lenz Compact starter pack, which I had not made much use of. However recently I started a small OO9 layout, with Bachmann locos so used it for that. (My main layout is an N gauge which runs using Lenz LH 100 controllers.) It seemed to work fine, and I reset the numbers on several locos seemingly successfully. Running was fine. Then a few days later I tried running the same locos and received the "OFF" message. When I checked the voltage is was not the 16v or so I had expected but had jumped to 22-24 volts which seemed high. I was not aware I had changed the output voltage and could not find anything in the manual on how I might accidentally have done this. Now again the voltage seems to be down to 16 volts. I guess I have fried the chips, especially irritating as two were sound fitted, but it has happened. More unwanted expense I guess ! Is voltage output an issue with the Compact?. A few postings on the web suggest that it is a known issue. Would my best bet to abandon this and go to a more modern system? The NCE starter pack seems to best bet today, or what else would members suggest.
  2. I have recently transferred my Lenz 23150 USB to serial connector to a Win 10 computer but cannot seem to load the driver. Windows will not find the device, and the win 10 driver entry seems to have disappeared from the Lenz website, following previous RMweb postings. I now want to connect my desktop win 10 computer to my Lenz DCC system and set up JMRI decoder Pro and eventually use JMRI for point control. Previously used an early version of Railroader & Co (Bronze) but have now changed computers and now wish to use JMRI instead and use Decoder pro. Any advice most welcome please.
  3. Well done Carl. Impressive and an inspiration for my own efforts in N gauge. I sympathise with DCC point control, I went for the Lenz units but they are an absolute pain with the Lenz controller. I am looking to use a computer. Also found it hard to see which route set.
