  1. Well, Radio 3 has been playing some half-decent classical music when I've been tuning in today, although the 1900 mix tape did get a bit avant-garde towards the end.

      Only half decent?

As in the first half was decent - but as for the second half ... ?

I must admit - when it comes to Radio 3, the words "avant garde" fill me with dread.

As I've previously mentioned, I've got no problem with more modern music - as long as it's got a tune.

Unfortunately, for a number of years, some people connected with R3 appear to have had a fixation with "experimental music" - with the experiment seeming to consist of seeing if anyone can detect anything resembling a tune - if they can, the experiment has failed.

Some of them seem to have been intent on inflicting a pan full of "musique concrete" on long suffering listeners.

Not surprisingly, they miss the point. I only like one sort of concrete - the sort that's in an Art Deco building (especially if the building just happens to be Cardiff Central railway station).

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be on offer. What is might possibly be of interest to Gillian McKeith (or, perhaps a proctologist) - it's unlikely to be of much interest to too many people round here.
